@@Rachelvalee I went to PCC for one semester from September 2001 until December. I grew up in an extremely conservative and modest backgrounds. My family owned and ran a strict Christian School.
I got so many demerits while attending there within a matter of 4 months that I almost had too many to continue going to college there.
I am not rebellious and I'm extremely modest myself, and I would get demerits for my skirt "hugging" my backside too much or my shirts would "cup" up under my chest too much.
I tried my absolute best to wear appropriate clothing, even had my parents send me new clothes because I was never able to find clothing that fit the requirements in Pensacola, which was extremely difficult anyway to do because we weren't allowed off campus very much.
I'm glad I went, if even for a short time because the experience I had with other girls my age and the relationships that I bonded over meant so much to me.
But I wasn't able to continue going and I reached that decision with peace, and so did my family.

Now, opposite of when I was there from F90-S92, the rules are greatly relaxed. But back then, the school was definitely NOT preparing students to go out into the real world. It's like they assumed that everyone who graduated from there would work at Christian schools or be housewives. I know people who graduated from there who had a really hard time once they graduated and had to find jobs working with people who didn't know how sheltered they had been. I was used to being an adult before I went there, maybe that was my problem. I had a year of public college where I took 20 hours, a full time job, and was used to being responsible for myself. So when I went to PCC the rules were trifling to say the least. Like women being forced to wear hose anytime not in the dorm or in a pe class or at the beach (which we could only go to in groups of 5 with either a prayer leader or assistant prayer leader in the group). That was a HUGE waste of money for female students.

I’m glad you found at least some redeeming value in PCC. I attended 3 semesters in 1988-89 (yeah, the dark pre-internet age😅). During those 3rd semesters & ever since I’ve described it as a hybrid of military boot camp & Jonestown without the cool aid! I’m sure the admin went crazy when mobile internet arrived since they couldn’t control everything students saw. FYI-about 25% of my freshman class didn’t return for the 2nd semester. Another 25% didn’t return for sophomore year. You could always tell the attrition rate by how quickly the balcony emptied. The admin takes for pride in the expulsion & drop rate vs the graduation rate. Pitiful😡

A parents perspective: my daughter got her nursing degree at PCC. She is debt free because of the low cost, she got a great job because of the schools excellent reputation, she was safe there because of their rules( tho I agree with the imbalance applied to men versus women when it comes to punishment for rule breaking!!)and the whole system is set up to help a student succeed. When rules got tough for her I reminded her it’s only 4 years and you can last to be out of debt and there are many times in life you’ll have to work in environment s you don’t like so by staying your building character. She saw the value in not having a 100 thousand dollar bill attached to her for years and I appreciate her willingness to see the sacrifices we all made as a family to get her the best education for the least amount of money anywhere.

I will say, though, having been a student there for the last five years, I’ve learned that just because it’s not announced that the college punished someone for inappropriate posts, doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. I hadn’t heard about that specific instance, but many times I find out later that there’s always another side to a story (not just in regards to PCC) and I realize it was handled without everyone knowing. ;) (also, idk who threatened you with demerits for your shoes, but I’m 90% sure that wouldn’t have held up in Student Life. Sadly, the leadership of Pensacola Christian College (PCC) and their Campus Church (on the property of PCC) have a snobby, intolerant, unforgiving, hateful spirit toward anyone who dares to question their doctrine or policies. I live in Pensacola. I attended Campus Church for a few months in 2021, but learned quickly that their senior pastor Jeff Redlin is not a nice man. I kindly told Pastor Redlin that my former wife sadly divorced me 15 years earlier in 2006, and that after all these years of loneliness, I hoped to find a woman at Campus Church to remarry. He immediately condemned me, scolding me for daring to even consider remarriage. He told me in front of his own wife that if I did find a woman, he refused to perform the wedding. I felt so despised and unwanted as a new church member. In truth, I never asked him to perform any wedding. The guy freaked out about the issue!
The sad truth is that PCC are out of touch with reality, and they don't know how to treat people (and sadly don't want to learn). People don't care what you KNOW, until they know that you CARE. There is no permissive will of God at PCC, you must live a perfect life or else you will be on the outside looking in at Campus Church. PCC are a bunch of academic types who woefully lack God's compassion for people. I came to Campus Church as a 54 year old divorced man with a broken life and a hurting soul. Jeff Redlin mistreated me in his self-righteous pride. The way that you treat people matters! I was very nice to everyone at Campus Church and PCC. At PCC you will need to walk a fine line if you attend their school, dotting your i's and crossing your t's, or else they will quickly reject and ostracize you. Pastor Jeff Redlin made me feel dejected as a human being.
After I left Campus Church in frustration, I was sad and lonely over the next several months, missing the friends I had made at PCC's church. So in June and July of 2022, I wrote three separate letters, pleading respectfully for forgiveness from pastor Jeff Redlin, assistant pastor Timothy Zacharias, Campus Church and PCC for offending them in 2021. I humbly offered to do whatever they require to make peace with them. They waited six weeks to finally respond! That is how horrible they abuse people!
And when Pastor Redlin did finally reply on August 2nd, 2022 to my June 17th, 2022 letter, he hypocritically said that I was forgiven, but since I had made "consequential" remarks against them on social media, they would NOT allow me to attend Campus Church anymore. I was heart broken. That is not God's love! That is not Bible Christianity. That is hatred, a religious cult, an institution that only cares about making more money, and doesn't care or have any compassion for hurting people. Mr. Redlin gets paid a very lucrative 6-digit salary! Religious crime pays well. Once you offend the gods at PCC, it's over, you're out! There are no second chances, no love, no understanding, no reconciliation, just the exit door!
At PCC they offer a superficial type of forgiveness on paper (to protect their public image), which doesn't include actually forgiving a person enough to allow them to attend church services (which is everyone's right as a child of God). Even though I promised to remove all my criticisms from social media, with the understanding that they would let me come back to Campus Church, they still refused. It is shameful how Jeff Redlin and Timothy Zacharias hold grudges, discard hurting people and play God with people's lives. Pensacola Christian College is a religious cult!
Campus Church finished the fiscal year 2020 with $1,200,000 left in the bank (their yearly income was $3,500,000). Yet, when I attended Campus Church they required church members to pay $10 to attend a meeting on how to more effectively share the Gospel. That is pathetic! With all that cheddar in the bank, they still want people to pay $10 to learn how to share the Gospel more effectively. That speaks volumes about PCC's horribly wrong attitude toward Bible truth, getting lost sinners saved and the love of money. I could go on about some of the problems with Campus Church and PCC, the worst being that they are arrogant and refuse to hear any constructive criticisms. They will chop your head off like a turkey on Thanksgiving Day if you dare to question the gods who run PCC. They have a false humility.
I say this all kindly with Christ's unconditional love. I have been praying for the PCC camp, that they will see the errors of their horrible selfish ways, and welcome me back to attend their church (as I am still humbly begging them). I don't agree with some things doctrinally at PCC, but I miss my friends. Sadly, the Christian army is the only army in the world that kills its wounded. All I want is to attend Campus Church, but Jeff Redlin and PCC leadership still refuse. I don't recommend PCC for young people. The only reason I want to go back to Campus Church is because I still have some friends there, whom I miss and love. Leadership is hateful at PCC, who selectively only care about people with money.
Dear prospective student, please search Google for the umpteen PCC students who have been mistreated, expelled, banned from graduating and treated like garbage by PCC leadership, before you end up a victim too. Look before you leap! If you want a GREAT Bible college, check out Commonwealth Baptist College in Lexington, KY (they are a citywide soulwinning church and Bible college, but PCC is not. Also, PCC denies that the King James Bible is inspired, but Commonwealth Baptist College teaches that the King James Bible is inspired). PCC can only train you to be a religious academic, but you won't grow into the soulwinning, people-loving, real human being that God desires for you to be. If you want to become a religious robot that hates, rejects and refuses to give a second chance to those who offend you, as they are doing to me right now, then PCC is your vice.
I speak from the heart. People just want to be loved. I have four adult children of my own. Do you really want to attend a religious college with those kind of people running things? Do you want them influencing you spiritually? Do you really want to become like them? My name is David J. Stewart. I graduated from Hyles-Anderson College (1985-1993) with a degree in Pastoral Theology. I have no regrets and love my home college and Pastor Jack Hyles (1926-2001). But I wouldn't recommend HAC today, because they have horribly changed for the worse since 2008, now denying the inspiration of the King James Bible. The infamous atheist Voltaire said:
“The Bible is not the inspired, inerrant and 100% historically true words of God. ...If we would destroy the Christian religion, we must first of all destroy man’s belief in the Bible.” -Voltaire (French philosopher, 1694-1778)
It is vitally important that you only attend a Bible college that actually believes we have an inspired Holy Bible today. God only authored One Book, not hundreds!
Dr. Hyles loved his enemies and gave people second chances, and third, and fourth, et cetera. Jesus called Judas (who betrayed Him), "Friend." Either you love everyone or else you love no one. You won't learn that at PCC, you will learn to hate those who offend you, and to reject them. Something is very wrong with the leadership at Campus Church and PCC.
Hey, ask them about me at Campus Church and PCC. They hate my guts (although they won't admit it), but I love them with God's love. They're mad at me because I dared to criticize their pastor on social media (because PCC sinfully bids Godspeed to the Bob Jones University cult who preach Lordship Salvation). I'm only human. It doesn't matter that I am trying to make peace with PCC, or that I have apologized to all of them repeatedly at PCC, or that I promised them to do what I can to make things right with PCC, they still REFUSE to welcome me back.
I will make peace with them anytime they choose. Please don't let them get away with their hatred, by rewarding them for ostracizing hurting people like me, forbidding me from attending Campus Church. They are behaving like a cult, not God's children. Something is WRONG with these people at PCC! There is no love in that place. I certainly don't blame anyone for leaving PCC. I too made friends there, and I had a few good times, but you are constantly overshadowed by an abusive group of intolerant leaders who have zero compassion once you offend them. They will turn on you in a heartbeat. God forbid you should ever criticize PCC leaders on social media, which was my downfall. They will not forgive you, even though they will say they do. They have banned me from attending Campus Church. That is NOT God's forgiveness. Thank you for reading. = -)

Their assistant pastor kicked me out of his church when he was the head pastor at a church in Connecticut. Why? Well, in large part because I got into a discussion with the deacon about Calvinism and I didn't agree totally with their views. Keep in mind that I am not a Calvinist, and have never been a Calvinist; and John Calvin was known to have been a pretty nasty character; but the lesson from that for we Protestants should be not to allow doctrine to override a sense of Grace for your fellow Christians. There is such a thing as right doctrine, but none of us can know it 100%. If we could, we could also save ourselves (but we can't). 'Anyway, this man, who is now assistant pastor at Pensacola Christian College, and his then deacon, were so focused on hating Calvinists (though they themselves subscribed to one of his doctrines: 'Once saved, always saved') and anyone who read anything other than the original King James, that they allowed under their 'watch', two really bad scandals to happen (in which I was not involved; thank God!). That was the situation when Tim Zacharias left this church to become assistant pastor to Jeff Redlin. But before he left, he kicked me out. No problem. I moved to another town in Connecticut and found another church home, too. Anyway, I know what you mean! Let's pray for Pastors Redlin and Zacharias. Imho, Independent Baptists, and Baptists in general, have the closest to what is right doctrinal views, but only God Himself (and His Son, of course) can be 100% on doctrine; and it's a trap to allow yourself to become rude and cruel and blind to wrongdoing over it. Let us all instead be more thankful for being (ahem) 'redeemed sinners' (through Christ, of course), and pray for each other to that effect. Amen.

I graduated from PCC in 2019. There are definitely some things I agree with you about. 1: I loved prayer group, but my last semester there I worked at 5:30am as a cook in varsity for the breakfast shift on Tuesday and Thursday, so on Monday night I had to stay up until 11 and get up at 4:30-5. I wish I could have had an exception for that (of course I guess I couldn’t as an APL 😂) 2: I was affected by the attendance policy as well. I didn’t miss enough to completely fail the class but by the time the grade was deducted it was a D+ and I needed a C- to pass. So I had to retake it. 😔 What drew me to the school, though, was this: I went and visited as a high school senior during one of their college days events and I still to this day remember sitting in chapel and Dr. Shoemaker saying, “We are praying for all of you who are making the decision on where to go to college. We pray the Lord brings you here, but we know not everyone goes here. If He doesn’t lead you here, we still pray that God leads you where He wants you to go.” That really touched me because I could tell Dr. Shoemaker really cared for the students there and I felt appreciated. I loved my 4 years there. I know it’s not for everyone. But it’s a great school for those who can handle it!

However, what you said is true, it's a place where you make some of the best memories you have. I think what makes the difference is whether someone is going because of money, beliefs, ease, location, rather than someone who realizes or believes that God has called them there for a purpose. I attended a Fundamental Baptist church in the early 90s when I was stationed at an Air Force Base in Louisiana. I was invited there by a very devout Christian. The people were pretty friendly overall, but some a little odd and socially awkward. I was raised Southern Baptist, green, and thought a Baptist was a Baptist. I was a little befuddled with all the women wearing dresses or skirts, the strange Stepford wife behavior with some of them, and nothing but King James Bible’s.
Anyway, many kids from the church went to PCC. I had no idea they were this strict.
Bottom line, a lot of the people in the IFB movement are great, but it’s very cultish in a lot of ways. Any church that imposes rules and legalism and a rigid is a red flag. We’re called to live in his love, grace, and forgiveness!

Christian colleges and universities have rules in place to protect the students both spiritually and physically. Some rules, naturally, are in place to protect the institution. Before attending any college or university it is imperative to read every word of their student handbook. Most schools require each student to sign a statement that he or she has read the handbook and agrees to abide by the institution's policies. Remember that rules can be a positive character builder, if we are willing to live within their bounds. God has allowed many different Christian college and university choices to exist because He knows we are different in our needs and desires. Spend time in prayer, seek the counsel of your parents, pastor, wise spiritual leaders in your congregation and most trusted friends when seeking out a place to receive academic and spiritual training by which to live out your adult life, as you serve our Lord Jesus Christ.

I have heard that about the late night requirement, it is not good when some students have to get up early. It’s not good for people to not get enough sleep and promotes getting sick.
And the double standard of men is not right. They are to be leaders, not get a pass.
The fact that they focused on the sweatpants at ALL when you had been hurt was absolutely ridiculous.
I knew of a student whose brother was going overseas as a missionary and they didn’t want to let him leave for two days over the weekend to say goodbye. Crazy stuff like that, change it.
It is not living by grace and promotes the law and phariseeical behavior.
I know there may be many positives but an excess of control is just wrong, a girl should be able to ask for someone to accompany her in the dark and to think everyone has evil motives just because they are a man (or woman) is messed up.

We were required to live on campus and we had rules such as; only girls on the 2nd floor, must attend all classes (attendance not optional), must attend cluster meetings, cannot eat with parents (not even at the fast food place across the dorms, parents may only visit you in the lobby), cannot go back to dorms during the school day, must attend residence hall meetings, cannot call significant other, cannot have computer, cannot have cell phones, cannot have your car (must leave car at home), breakfast is optional but free.

I was just curious and started watching your clip. That prayer group thing? Bob Jones back in the 70s! You HAD to stay up for prayer group and you HAD to get up at 7, even if you didn't have class. I needed more than 8 hours sleep. It was a real problem, and I ended up with a medical problem and a term off. And pants? It was no pants except for gym back then. Dating Parlour. Yep. Yep. Yep. I stayed a few years. Great academics. Some great profs. BUT, nope. Didn't stay to graduate. Demerits? How about White Glove twice a year, too... FIVE people to a room. (Two and a half closets. Only 2 desks. A 3 bunk and a 2 bunk.) Finally got A/C just before I left. I think BJU has gone liberal, LOL; but it sounds as if PCC is like the OLD BJU. BTW, that monthly thing? If you were not in the hospital, you had to be in class.I actually passed out in a lecture hall. I had to pick myself up and get myself to "Barge." That meant lying on the skinny exam table at Barge Hospital from 8-dinner time. Oh, there was an epidemic once. They turned the entire Georgia Creel dorm into an infirmary. The sick people had to move in and the well people were temporarily displaced. And you couldn't live off post, except with parents or an adult sibling. Also, couldn't be a student, if you were married, until you were 21. How about them apples! My kids just laughed when they got the PCC application and that booklet about work on campus. I think they realized it was ridiculous and stopped using it! I love A Beka though! Best home school program ever! Thanks for sharing!

Attended from 2012-2016. Stopped singing the doxology 3 weeks into school because it was way to cultish. For the first time in 8 years, I allowed the words to leave my lips. Also. To those of you saying you can choose to go there and the rules are outlined and yada yada ... with so many rules and so many people allowed to police them, it’s IMPOSSIBLE to execute with ABSOLUTE fairness. I had been accused of doing something when in actuality, the individual had the wrong black girl. She even called me a liar. Meanwhile, her ignorance was the true and only problem in the scenario. Also, while it may be a choice, PCC is literally dirt cheap for an excellent education, so for some people, the price tag of other schools makes it near impossible to go with any other school but PCC. I highly associate with your priorities point. Also, sexism is literally everywhere. Definitely getting better, but not fast enough, considering I graduated 4 years ago.

I totally agree with the prayer group time. I wanted to be in bed by 9 pm, especially if I had a 730 class. I loved PG, I just hated the time. Also when I graduate, I totally hugged all my guy friends. And def hugged them before Christmas vacation. Never had an issue, but as she said, it's who you're around. Some of them are def power-driven, while others were pretty chill. Not gonna lie, that attendance policy saved me because I am generally am a lazy person and like my sleep. But also agree because I had terrible migraines, but I knew that it would be gone within an hour, so it didn't make sense to go to the Graf clinic just for a one-hour migraine. The little rules, thank Jesus, were given to me by my senior roommate and when I became senior roommate, I made sure to help my freshies so they didn't fall into the silly rule loopholes. I wish some of my intense rule-keeping RAs would have popped in though with my one roommate though. At one point we found rotting ramen in her bed. It was vile.

I understand where you're coming from and I feel the same way. Just get rid of the ridiculous rules and attitudes and PCC would be the best college to go to. I got along well with all but 2 of my roommates over 9 semesters and got along with my classmates and workmates at the distribution center and DC Annex and liked most of my teachers. But church attendance should not be required and men should be able to have longer hair and grow their beards anytime and women should be allowed to wear pants. And hold people in authority accountable for their words and actions. Then PCC would be a far better college. And allow human beings to touch other human beings. There's nothing wrong with a hug. And women's issues should be considered instead of ignored. I personally didn't like coming back from chapel to see that someone searched my belongings while I was out of my room. Very unChrist like.

There is no perfect college, church family is individual. We are all affected by fall- all sinned there is no good people, not even one Paul writes to Romans. Having said that means there are things P c c can
    Change but
Is it Beneficial? Im sad to hear that you left college before graduation, like demas you left the good path for the world.
. I hear the rules were too much for you. I went to a similar college abroad, and the four years in my Christian collage where the things i am most grateful for today 30 years down the
Line, remember discipline doesn’t feel good at the moment but its for a our good. If you dont like discipline in life, you are headed the wrong road. I took my daughter to Pcc because i wanted her to learn life is about Christ not us. Listening to you i definitely feel you represent many young people who have been lied to and believed these lies. The lie being - do what you like and what’s comfortable, ma’am you’re a beautiful intelligent girl, i wish i could see you when you’re my age 54 and see what you became snd how your own kids turn out being a free style girl ,no supervision no rules no inconvenience no breaks lifestyle. Water and fire are powerful elements they teach us about need for limits and control and with these they are useful . Im young old now i still need discipline, we all need checks otherwise our fleshly desires will drive us away from the one - the overseer of our souls . Your story has made me very sad, i hope you get back on tract having tasted the water of life, im afraid you’re walking away from whats good.

Hey, Rachel! I understand about the pros and cons of PCC. I attended almost three years. No college/university is perfect, however, secular schools/online schooling is not the worse thing. If you would like me to help you find a better choice of a school, affordable, and everything, message me. :) UoP College Grad '16 - Human Services: Management.

You’re allowed to wear knee length shorts everyday except for Sunday. But it has to be after a certain time on weekdays. I think the time is 4pm? I can’t specifically remember. And all day on Saturday is ok to wear shorts. But you aren’t allowed to wear them to classes or church. :/

Bruh that’s school sounds so boring and sad really, you can’t hug , kiss, and date. That’s what college is supposed to be about finding yourself and even love and all that jazz. This make it feel like your in high school or even middle school for goodness sake you can’t barley nothing without a chaperone and y’all are adults. I wouldn’t find this type of school fun to go to in my opinion they doing to much. I heard about Christians high school having these type of rules but I couldn’t imagine it’s that deep in a university. It’s a no for me 🙅🏽‍♀️
