This fox pup is a furfarm rescue I've been bottle feeding the last couple weeks. He was finally old enough to be introducing to Finnegan Fox this morning.

This is the first time I've ever seen a fox pup. I like how they look extremely ambiguous, like that could be anything from a dog to a cat to a raccoon. If you showed the pup to me without context I would never guess fox.
I thought it was a baby cat at first until I saw its face
I was just thinking that if one of these waddled up to me in my yard, I'd immediately think it was a lost puppy and pick it up so I could bring it back to wherever it escaped from.
And then I'd get mauled by momma fox for touching her baby

Finn starts off like 'you want this fish?' and just gets more and more insistent until he's like 'HERE IS FISH. TAKE FISH.' lol
Maybe because baby knows that it's a dolphin, not a fish :D

What makes this more adorable is that foxes are incredibly family oriented and mate for life. That baby will never know life without mom and dad for it's entire formative years.

Cats naturally run away from babies, not because they're afraid of it but because they're afraid of its mom. Cat mothers can be terrifying if they see someone they don't trust around their kittens. The cats probably thought it's close enough to a cat so they were careful

I noticed the cats seemed calm around it, sniffing it even, but when the fox kit turned around, they ran, like at first they see the back of the fox and think that's a lost kitten, and then see the face and think "Oh gosh...dog!" since the baby fox doesn't have a muzzle like an adult one yet. I know cats are wary around infants but it looks like that to me and I find that amusing.
I like how calm he is. His instinct kicked in and now he's being responsible.
Has he gone out and found himself a job, though? I bet he's just watching daytime TV and grabbing a beer every hour.

This baby fox is further proof that foxes are cat/dog hybrids. This little guy has the fuzzy yet pointy tail of a kitten but the face of a puppy! So, SO adorable and sweet! What a darling little angel baby. And Finnegan is a wonderful foster dad! “I have brought you a delicious dolphin, young one. Wait - maybe I should hang onto this….just until you’re a little older….”
The cats’ reactions are absolutely priceless! Their natural curiosity is piqued and it quickly gets amped up to eleven trying to figure out this latest addition to the family. Love it!

May be a simple instinct that tells the cats that it is a bad idea to be close to puppies and cubs belonging to other species due to their potentially protective and very dangerous mother.

Wild fox dads also bring their cubs toys and things to play with! I had a litter of cubs in my garden this spring and my trail camera often caught the dad bringing in dog toys, clothes and random things he'd found for the cubs to play with. He was especially fond of stealing things from my neighbour's clothes line!

I know! I would love to move more north just because of the scenery and wilderness, but man I couldn't deal with the winters. I absolutely hate driving in snow/ice, shoveling it, scraping it off my car, it sucks.
