A ques where Newton's third law fails- 2 conductors places perpendicular at a seperation x the horizontal wire is infinite but the vertical wire is finite of length l. both have same current say i.for the horizontal wire it is in left where as in vertical wire it is in vertically upward direction.then the magnetic force between them is .?? I done this by integration .and I got my answer in terms of natural log ie u.i²/2pi lnx+l/l but this is the force on vertical due to horizontal and comes in left dirn .according to Newton's 3rd law the horizontal wire should also experience same but in opp direction. ie towards east dirn but acording to formula F=i(l×B) force should be perpendicular to l which implies that the horizontal wire has magnetic force in downward dirn perpendicular to it but not in East dirn .sir plezz tell why Newton's law is violating here or I'm going with wrong solution.Abhinav jha
Here's the answer, I believe I am totally right. As the top wire is finite, it isn't down to the level of the infinite wire. So we simply cannot take the direction of magnetic field due to finite wire as shown in the video, so the torque explanation on infinite wire isn't totally correct. The approach to this system isn't right. On a more general note, the finite length wire will also experience a torque as we know that the magnetic field due to a wire depends on distance. So the lower part of finite wire experiences more force than the top part of it. So it'll generate torque rather than translational force

hello sir .i am an iit jee aspirant.while i was solving a particular question on magnetism i came across a weird result. The question showed 2 current carriying wires placed perpendiculat to each other.(the latitudnal wire was infinite while the longitudanal one was a finite wire). force was successfully calculated on the longitudinal wire by integration. However i observed that the net forces on the latitudinal wire due to the longitudinal wire generated a torque and no net force. this somehow seemed to violate Newton's third law. sir i will be highly obliged to you if you help many out there as this is a doubt from lakshya jee batch from Physics Wallah. it will help many people.

Sir i have this question in my mind. Every single concept we have in physics are not absolutely correct to build these concept we have taken a lot of approximation and assumptions. So is there any chance in future if we anyhow acquire absolute concept will it be same or we are gonna se a large change and mistake in our current theories. I just wonder 🤔. As we move towards higher studies we realise that everything we have learnt in school is just a mere simplification of a larger and more general concept/theory. Even though there are assumptions in a theory, but those assumptions have some strong logical resoning behind them. A lot theories have short commings, they can't explain every single phenomenon that we observe. The development of atomic model is a very basic example of that. As time passes by we enhance our understanding and modify the theories to get better experimental agreement. We do have mistakes in our theories, that's how we learn and develop a better theory.

A ques where Newton's third law fails- 2 conductors places perpendicular at a seperation x the horizontal wire is infinite but the vertical wire is finite of length l. both have same current say i.for the horizontal wire it is in left where as in vertical wire it is in vertically upward direction.then the magnetic force between them is .?? I done this by integration .and I got my answer in terms of natural log ie u.i²/2pi lnx+l/l but this is the force on vertical due to horizontal and comes in left dirn .according to Newton's 3rd law the horizontal wire should also experience same but in opp direction. ie towards east dirn but acording to formula F=i(l×B) force should be perpendicular to l which implies that the horizontal wire has magnetic force in downward dirn perpendicular to it but not in East dirn .sir plezz tell why Newton's law is violating here or I'm going with wrong solution.Abhinav jha

Here's the answer, I believe I am totally right.
As the top wire is finite, it isn't down to the level of the infinite wire. So we simply cannot take the direction of magnetic field due to finite wire as shown in the video, so the torque explanation on infinite wire isn't totally correct. The approach to this system isn't right.
On a more general note, the finite length wire will also experience a torque as we know that the magnetic field due to a wire depends on distance. So the lower part of finite wire experiences more force than the top part of it. So it'll generate torque rather than translational force

hello sir .i am an iit jee aspirant.while i was solving a particular question on magnetism i came across a weird result.
The question showed 2 current carriying wires placed perpendiculat to each other.(the latitudnal wire was infinite while the longitudanal one was a finite wire).
force was successfully calculated on the longitudinal wire by integration. However i observed that the net forces on the latitudinal wire due to the longitudinal wire generated a torque and no net force. this somehow seemed to violate Newton's third law.

So is there any chance in future if we anyhow acquire absolute concept will it be same or we are gonna se a large change and mistake in our current theories.

As we move towards higher studies we realise that everything we have learnt in school is just a mere simplification of a larger and more general concept/theory. Even though there are assumptions in a theory, but those assumptions have some strong logical resoning behind them. A lot theories have short commings, they can't explain every single phenomenon that we observe. The development of atomic model is a very basic example of that. As time passes by we enhance our understanding and modify the theories to get better experimental agreement. We do have mistakes in our theories, that's how we learn and develop a better theory.

I was reading the Farday's Law of electromagnetic induction. And I came across through a phrase "emf is produced". And I find this phrase almost everywhere.
If emf is work done by a driving force, how can it be produced?
How can work be produced?
They could also say that current is induced on changing flux, but why everyone emphasizes so much on the phrase " emf is produced"?
I am desperately wanting exact and precise definition of emf.
