    Your Lucky when you went to Kalalau Lookout at that late time, the trade winds gather up the clouds and pushes it towards Mt Waialeale where Kalalau lookout is just off its side.. usually its all fogged in and wet.. but you do get lucky now and again which you did.. I usually go in the mornings just when the clouds are pushing up the mountains and covering Mt Waialeale and slowly to the lookout point.

      @@BevandRyan Just visiting, my Dad side of the family was from there.. so he took me quite a few times when i was young and i been going back abt every years for the past 6 years, I learned to look at Mt Waialeale before you go up there which would be a great indicator whether or not Kalalau lookout will be rainy of fogged in, Waimea canyon usually is always go to go at anytime but when you go to Kalalau lookout its a crapshoot when you go later in the day. I have been up there around noon and it was 0 feet visability so i learning my lesson and leave Kapaa or Lihue around 9am.. thats almost guaranteed to be clear but the shadows in the morning dont do justice well for taking pics. if you are lucky as you both were, there was no shadows and the complete beauty of the canyons down to the water was visible.
      Hope you both will go back there, Kauai is my favorate Island cause its not overly built and the laws in Kauai will not let any new building be over i think 3 or 4 floors so as they say, it will keep the beauty of the land visible to everyone to enjoy but you do see high hotels there unlike Honolulu which to me is like Los Angeles in the Tropics.

      @@BevandRyan Next time try the hole in the wall places where the locals go.. if you like Saimen noodles there is a great place in Lihue, if you want to try good Hawaiian food there is a place in Kapaa etc and there is alot of great places for Bento or Box lunches too, i wish they has more of this in the mainlands but o well.
      Cheers

    One thing abt Kauai is there are Feral Chickens Everywhere... and I mean Everywhere, at the beach, at the market, at your hotel at the farmers market even at the airport and all the way up to Waimea canyon and they are a pain waking you up in the morning with all those Feral Chickens crowing at the same time and not to mention CATS !!!! lots of Cats too.. espically in Kapaa

    Glad you were there in April! I arrived April 21 for 2-1/2 months and as the days went on it got busier and busier. Take your last video and multiply by maybe 50% and that is how packed it was. Needed reservations and patience for everything! The rain did reduce in mid May which was nice but it truly was bedlam. I admire the full time residents for dealing with it. And I was told it was to get worse JULY, AUG and SEPT. Still a lack of workers so many things closed just for that reason. And the food markets were ravaged! BUT …. On the other hand, it is Paradise and gas is $1 cheaper! Enjoyed the video …. Wanted to be sure I didn’t miss anything! Next time take the Princeville Sunset Golf Cart Tour!! Amazing views and very unique.

      I left there 8 years ago. So much has changed since then. I read somewhere that some places charge you $20 to park for the day. I think it was the Kalalau lookout. You have to have a reservation to get to KeKe beach (Kalalau trailhead) I understand why for the people that live there but it sure was nice to go anytime we wanted. I was there for 1 1/2 years and camped in Kalalau valley for 32 days. It was magical!! I’m sure the other main islands are beautiful but everywhere you look on kauai is a beautiful view! Has the most beaches as well due to being the oldest of main islands. 41 beaches, I believe. Other fun facts: wettest spot on earth is on kauai, 464 inches a year and for being such a small island, it doesn’t affect the whole island, which I found amazing! 2nd largest sea cave and the mini Grand Canyon (Waimea) to name a few.

    Heading to Kauai in about 9 days!!! The fam and i plan on hiking down to the Wailua falls. In the video you say not to take the path shown, but that there is a longer path to take.... Can you tell me where that is so we don't fall to our deaths ;)?

    • @BevandRyan
      @BevandRyan  2 года назад +1

      For Wailua Falls we didn't hike down at all, we just stayed at the lookout at the top which is right of the road. We read that the hike down to the bottom of the falls isn't very long, but is steep and can be muddy, so we didn't go down because we were with our parents.
