I have read somewhere that Dylan was a big fan of the transendentalist poets like Whitman. If you have read Song of Myself, which is a literary masterpiece, and if you read it several times and study it, Whitman will pop out at you when listening to A Hard Rain's A Gonna Fall or Mr. Tambourine Man. I hope the film gives both Woody Guthrie and Walt Whitman their due.
