Philipp Schuster - I did! They take months to go online! Please if you want to help complain to the play store.. I would adore for them to go online sooner!
Interesting that songs like this from Gordon Sumner are making a comeback. There is a whole array of music that many may not know. This song was always a favourite for me.
+Peter Hollens this was such an amazing cover! Although I haven't heard the original, I'm not sure I want to anymore; you are too good Peter!!!! Thanks for making my headache feel a lot better :D
Peter PLEASE do a hunchback of notre dame medley. You doing Out There and Hellfire would be amazing, or Evynne doing God Help the Outcasts.... PLEASE it would be amazing
I wish I could tell you all the ways this song has touched my heart. It literally brought tears to my eyes while I listened to it. Fields of Gold has always been a favorite of mine with a lot of emotional significance, this version not only evokes those same emotions but I think I actually enjoy it more than the original. Thank you all so much for creating something so beautiful and sharing it with the world.
Okay, so this is a weird short story, but I was in band as soon as I was allowed to be, and stayed in band all the way through to graduation my senior year. I've played in Carnegie Hall in New York, and competed in Bands Of America competitions through the late 90's all over the US. During football season, my high school band would put on halftime shows, and Fridays immediately following school during the season, we would dress out into our rehearsal dress and our band belts for a quick run through of the show on the practice field, and at about 5/5:30 pm, the band would retire to the auditorium where our band director would play Sting's "Fields of Gold" with the lights dimmed and the band relaxing and meditating on the show. Every. Single. Friday. For four years, every football season and on into the end of marching season, we would listen to this song to prepare ourselves for the task at hand. It became part of the very fiber of our being. This song has such a significant nostalgic meaning to me, and to hear such a masterful revision of it fills me with warmth. It just brings me back to the feeling of pride from all the hard work we put into our shows, and all the sweat and determination to perform to our best. Fields of Gold is something like an auditory coat of arms to me and my band. It's such a special thing. Lion Pride.
LOVE this. I was a high school band director for 17 years in Texas, and now I'm programming this arrangement for a marching band I'm working with. Super cool to stumble across your comment sharing your experience with how this song is woven into the fabric of your being. Calling it an auditory coat of arms really resonated with me and I felt your words through the screen as I listened to the song playing in the background . I'm so glad to know that your high school band memories still ring true in your heart to this day.
Peter and Lindsey, I am a big fan of yours ! This is a great song, which brings me good memories ! Thanks a lot. PETER ! Congratulations for your son ! What a such blessing !
Each of us has met or will meet person with who one would like to spend an eternity among the fields of gold. Some people have this luck to feel requited love, but there are also people who are ignored or rejected and still loving. I believe, such songs can appease dreadful and sometimes deadly pain... Give strength to change...
Okay, the beauty of this song and everything about it aside. I love the way that Peter looks at his son. It is truly the purest thing ever. There is nothing better than the love between parent and child.
I cried my eyes out when I heard this. A song of pure beauty, heart and soul. The three of you came together in a way that would make one think the earth has been blessed with a visit from angels.
Just a disclaimer; English isn't my first language. When I was younger, I heard that they sang about the "fields of garlic". Had to say. Anygays, this is my fave version of the song I love it!!
What a beautiful version of that song. I have ALWAYS been fond of that song and it has a special place in my heart. Congrats on your new addition to your family!
Excellent work, Peter, you have come along way from when you started On The Rocks, Glad to see that all is well in your family too, hope you spoil the new mother on her first Mother's day.
I was wondering what I could say that hasn't already been said, then it struck me... 80 or so years ago it was the big band era, the world wars with their musical heroes (Vera Lynne etc) and along came The Beetles, Elvis, Johnny Cash, and others. The softer sounds of Gentleman Jim Reeves, Roy Orbison, Dean Martin, and so many others. Can't have a hall of fame without Michael Jackson, ACDC, and The Rolling Stones. And here we are in 2014, blessed to be a part of the amazing talents of Peter and Evynne Hollens (thank you for not selling out to big music), Lindsey Stirling, who has made the violin and dance mainstream, and to the many artists who perform with you. Proud to know you guys? HELL YEAH!
My grandmother on my Mom's side died back in 1997 of cancer. She wanted this song played at her final resting place. Somewhere up in heaven she is smiling.
Congrats on the baby! Love your music, I have an 11month old son myself and when he gets fussy if I put on your channel he calms down and sits there listening intently. He really loves Sally Gardens and I'm sure he'll enjoy this as well. Take lots of pictures, you'll look back in a month and wont be able to believe he was ever that "tiny".
This is the first record of this song I've heard. Got pretty interested in the song after my cousins sang it during our aunt's wake. Very sentimental one, watching it over and over and over again. Thanks for recording it.....more than a song to me.
Always a great song. And like I've said before I believe that Peter is an angel send down from Heaven. But Lindsey was born an angel and caries Heaven every-where that she goes.
Peter Hollens, your music is amazing and you have a great gift with your voice. I have tremendous respect for you. I think it is doubly awesome how you treat with great respect the artists you collaborate with. Keep up the great work and congratulations to you and your wife on the birth of your son.
This video was awesome, three out of my four favorite youtube artist's. If you guys did a collaboration with the piano guys I would deem it the most epic song ever. Any one else agree?
beachlakenate Dude, I like there stuff, but I would totally go for these three artists over them almost any day. Unless I'm burnt out with their music.
The looks on your faces as you preform, it is clear you all enjoyed yourselves as you made this video. It's so good to see the joy that I experience when i preform is shared by others as well. Inspiring, can't wait to see more.
I'm just allowing RUclips to show me any Peter Hollens videos instead of choosing the ones I want and I'm finding all of these older ones. I'm loving it. I never heard this song before and it's now in my rotation.
Wonderful! I have always loved this song. I absolutely enjoyed it when Celtic Woman did their cover, and now you add your version to the mix. Thank you and wonderful job.
One of my most favorite songs by Sting ever. It takes mastiff sized balls to take a Sting song and do it justice. While I think Sting's version had more a wistful quality for me, this version was beautifully done. Excellent job.
Why did i felt like they were singing it in front of a medieval castle ? Lindsey would play her instrument to make the wheat turn into gold and bring happiness to the people. This sounded like a good deed to my ears, a real will to bring happiness, wow.
Loved it! You and your wife have got to be my favorite RUclips vocalists!!!!!! Congrats again! Children are truly the greatest blessing!!!!! I have two girlies, and we were finally blessed with a son just over a year ago!!! Keep up your incredible work!!!!!
What a stunning & beautiful interpretation. The visual was perfect for it. Bravo! Peter, if I may, I wish you wouldn't use the artificial low basses like you do, I would personally prefer a more natural sound. I understand you're probably more comfortable in the upper range, but the basses in your videos are just too heavy and compressed to sound real to me.
A few months ago I happened on one of Lindsey's pieces and pursued to find more, in the process finding both Tyler and Peter. It is always an enjoyable experience to listen to such fine talent as these wonderful musicians portray. Peter, I wish to thank you all for the work you do to bring these songs to your audience. Your all are truly talented and amazing In your presentations. I can only hope that you enjoy doing this as much as your audience enjoys the fruits of your labor.
***** I think Lindsey has their contact information as she did a collab with them a while back, if you want to do it. Go for it! :D And congrats on baby Ashton! :)
the original version was played at my great grandfathers funeral. I love this cover because it really has all of the emotion that I felt when I first herd it on that day.
Peter, I always get chills whenever I hear your voice. And that's a very good thing. This... is just BEAUTIFUL! Kudos to Tyler and Lindsey too! Absolutely... spellbinding!
Patricia Freitas Patricia, if you check out ***** RUclips channel, I think you would love most, if not all of the songs there! His wife is also very talented!
I'm crying this is so beautiful. Peter, Lindsey, and Tyler Thank you so much. I would like to ask you all to come together again and do "When You Belive." This song means a lot to me, and I think that you all could kill it.
It had to be this song, didn't it. I adore all three people, but this song has been played at far too many loved ones funerals for me to listen to it anymore. I'm sure it's beautiful, and thank you for covering such an amazing songs. Sending love.
Collaborations between RUclipsrs are always amazing. Looking forward to the next one. :) My Dream Collaboration: A symphony consisting of Lindsey Stirling, Peter Hollens, Tyler Ward, ThePianoGuys, and Pentatonix.

Please do more stuff with Lindsey. You two are amazing together. Also I'd love to hear more original pieces, Peter. You and Lindsey both inspire me so much.
Peter has an amazing voice for sure, but the way he layers on the backing harmonies has almost become his signature for his videos. Taking nothing away from Tyler, Peter's work here is incredible. Lindsey is impeccable as usual!
You are all amazing my daughter who is 13 and has been playing violin for going on 4 years you inspired her and whenever she hears one of your songs she runs to her room to learn it thank you

And yes, that whole piece was amazing,
But oh Wow, Lindsey is so beautiful!

Peter: Amazing
Tyler: Amazing
LIndsey: Amazing
All together?
Let me have a heart attack and die!!
Light Yagami could probably help you out with that! XD
Even after years this is still one of my favorite songs you have ever done. It's just a feel good, beautiful song. 4 years and this is still the first song I go to when I feel down. Thank you for sharing this with the world Peter and thank you to Lindsey and Tyler for helping make this song so beautiful.
Best three Cover artists = BEST COVER! :D :D
I was sceptical about this since "fields of gold" has a huge significant to my life, this song was played at my nans funeral and also at my friends funeral. But I'm glad to say this video was truely breathtaking, still brings tears to my eyes.
you should do a Capella of counting stars or demons!
