Phil heath...phffff, Arnold had no legs....you know what else he didn't have? A GUT.
ali aman phil i
ali aman For sure he did
The super heroes do not have legs and he has a big Torso that's why Arnold won :)
Jon, you sir, are a scholar and a gentleman!
Very true, and very good answer
Arnold 1974 is a Masterpiece
Embodiment of a Greek God. Isn't it humbling how fleeting it all is.....even for Arnold?
Wyrd Walker great point.
Wyrd Walker can you imagine him being 2 meters tall with this physique? :D
Goran Pavlović 6-6”?
@@goranpavlovic9051 More like 1.86 metres ( just under 6 feet 1.5 inches)
1974 Arnold was the single greatest physique ever achieved in humankind.
I would far rather have a physique like Arnold's than Phil Heath's any day! Symmetry and aesthetics vs freakish pregnant belly.
Phil Heath's comment about Arnold's legs was disrespectful. Without Arnold Phil wouldn't have a job. Great video Nick.
oldskool67 This nails at the points I was gonna mention. Hell, I was even born in '67!
Me too!!!
oldskool67 they question legs but relative to what? Mutant thighs which look vastly disproportionate? Arnold's legs were some of the best ever especially later in his career. But no, today they want disproportionate torso like legs that destroy the body symmetry as well as push further for features like polombosis, and unnatural looking muscle definements as well as destroying the back Arc by creating some sort of Mutant half cobra back instead of the body being developed in perfect proportion as arnold had done from top to bottom creating that beautiful symmetry and proportion progression.
Everyone knows who Arnold Schwarzenegger is. Who the hell is Phil heath? Phil got butthurt because he knew Arnold was right when he criticized todays pregnant bodybuilders. He's got real thin skin and to criticize Arnold. Anyone would take Arnies physique over that pregnant heath. He will never amount to what Arnold has accomplished. No respect, he's a bitch.
oldskool67 but what you got to understand is this..... black guys cannot stand for white guys to be better than them.... and I'm here to tell you as a 55 year old man they are racist I can assure you.
In 1974 Frank Zane remarked that Arnold's physique made the crowd gasp in awe. Arnold just made everyone look second rate as his massive physique just surpassed anything ever seen before. And still classic without a bubble belly. The BEST EVER!!!!
Arnold's legs were perfect. No overblown mass that makes it hard to walk properly.
jharris947 Exactly. He was huge but could still run a mile without setting the skin on the inside of the quads on fire and passing out from tren
right.
Absolutely correct.
I agree, he looks like he could be Olympic swimmer or suchlike, but in bodybuilding terms his hamstrings are lacking compared to modern day, or even compared to Platz
passing out from tren...hahaha Or drowning in that tren sweat!
Arnold looks like a Greek god while nowadays bodybuilders look like toads
arnold doesnt stand a chance vs todays bodybuilders be real, they are much cooler and bigger
Pregnant toads at that lol
S. S. A. And uglier.
Proportions of a midget
@@Dressing007 Dumb shit arnold told, he could be bigger but he didn't need that for winning
YOU YOUNGER GUYS HAVE TO UNDERSTAND in 1974 very few people even lifted.a physique like ARNOLD had was insane.it inspired many people to start.
Even today such a physique is insane
Raymond Ervin you were there!?
Charlie G $400000 first place
he looks better than most guys today the total package... maybe not individual pieces ...but that physique is almost perfect ... just enough size and just the right amount of condition the perfect proportions ... not just nostalgia or fanboying he's the best we will ever see i feel like
Chris Bellville let us not forget the prize money in the 70,s for the Mr. Olympia was on $1000.00 and that's it!
Arnold was a absolute monster in 1970s .I don't understand why people always suspect on his size and make him small. He is a huge guy.
I think 1974 is probably his best shape ever. 1975 was more iconic because of Pumping Iron, but no other year did Arnold bring that level of size, aesthetics, and conditioning to the Olympia. Amazing physique and THIS is what today's bodybuilders should be striving for.
The oak...
Hard wood for sure but in a side by side......Arnold was definitely hickory. ;-)))))
Greatest physique to ever grace a bodybuilding stage, in my opinion. The perfect blend of aesthetics and mass.
Jimmy Caruso was in the weighing room. He told me personally that Arnold weight 247. Arnold was 247 at the Olympia in 1974. And, he was 227 in 1975 and 217 in 1980 as per Jimmy's knowledge and expertise since he was at the weigh in's at all those competitions. He also said that Arnold was way off his form in 1980 but was the best overall that day. There's no better authority than Jimmy Caruso on the subject, so...
Arnold at his all-time best in 1974 stands as being the best physique brought to a competition EVER!!!!
'74 was definitely his biggest. I don't even think it can be disputed.
@Mario Cantani Arnold came in 75 lighter not because of overtraining, but because he was just done filming a movie!
@Mario Cantani he came in at around 230 to 235 in 1975 because he had to slim down to 210 for the movie Stay Hungry. He had to get himself bigger in a short period of time and did quite well.
OMAD Revolution ik, but now a days people are too big
@Mario Cantani While I agree that Arnold over-trained throughout his career that wasn't why he was underweight in 1975. I was 20 years old in 1975 and closely followed the sport as it was happening in real time back then and here's the facts..... Arnold made the movie "Stay Hungry" and the director told Arnold to lose 30 lbs. of muscle before filming started so he wouldn't overpower his diminutive costar Sally Fields. Arnold had actually retired from competition at that point but after he finished "Stay Hungry", producers Gaines and Butler (Pumping Iron book authors) came to him and talked him into coming out of retirement to compete in 1975 to make the movie Pumping Iron. In just over a hundred days Arnold brought his body-weight up from 210 to 228 lb.s for the contest which left him 12 lbs. less than he was at the 1974 Olympia. If Arnold had another month or two he would have easily gained his weight back and at least equaled his 1974 physique.
@Mario Cantani he had to lose weight he went from 2:45 in the 1974 Mr Olympia and he did a movie I believe stay hungry and they wanted him to be no more than 210 lb and then in 75 they wanted to pump and iron so he had to do one more Olympia and he was only 232 pounds
3:28 That's my all-time favorite pose of Arnold. Stunning.
finally arnold gets some respect for his physic and how good he actually was
He still had the most striated chest of all time. My hero.
This was 45 years ago man , what a legend
Herculian yet aesthetic.I don't believe any physique can go a step beyond that and still look human and so balanced.
Those 70's bodybuilders had it right -- small waists, broad shoulders, and beautiful sweeping lines. They were big and muscular, but they also retained a certain grace and athleticism to their physiques. Bodybuilding was truly an art form back then. Arnold was clearly the greatest, but I find all those dudes from that era to be inspirational.
Arnold was and always will have the best looking physique in any mr Olympia
I believe I believe is Arnold is in the Guinness book of records for the world's greatest physique
They should definitely made more pictures of Arnold in 74
Nick, I'm so glad you talked about his legs in '74 Olympia. I noticed that he was more balanced and massive in 74. He's proportions in '75 wasn't off for that era either. It's sad that people attribute him to having chicken legs. What people don't know is that Arnold retired after the '74 Olympia; then lost 30 pound for a movie role, because he was told that he was too big. He was persuade to compete in '75 because of the Pumping Iron documentary and he had only three months to get ready for that show. What a legend...
Arnold is a legend
Man, he really did make Lou look small. You said it as I was thinking it as well. That is definitely proof and amazing. His biggest year without a doubt. Great video.
I remember Arnold for his upper body and arms, but damn those long legs looked pretty massive and very proportional in these 1974 pictures.
Arnold Schwarzenegger retired to early.. fcker would have at least 15 mr. Olympia..
Could’ve won from 1970 all the way to Lee Haney before he would be too old
@strangeuniverse1 his 81 win was predetermined. The sport was rigged and he didn't comply with it any more
@strangeuniverse1 lmao money from where? Bodybuilding is pretty niche especially back then.
@@sigurdh.s8320 no, look at 1980 Arnold Olimpia. Not good at all.
He had damn bigger plans brother, he knew what he was doing..
About time, the 1974 Olympia got attention. This is where Pumping Iron should have been made. People look at Pumping Iron in 1975 and say, Arnold was not big enough, did not have enough legs etc. THIS is where its at. Arnold was perfect in 1974. He hit his peak with the right combination of lean muscle mass, striations, proportions, symmetry and dryness. If Arnold had trained his usual 8 month cycle in 1975 instead of only 3 months, he could have even been better.
KLRGT500KR The pumping Iron book covered the 1974 Olympia. it would have been awesome if they made the movie at the same time. Arnold in 75 was coming up from being 210 for a movie and was not as full as 74. He had to be convinced to do another Olympia for the movie.
@@chefmastershake 1974 he was 245 and he had to drop weight for the movie stay hungry I believe 1975 he was 232 lb but still look great 74 they should get pumping iron
Who said he had no legs? Arnold is 6"2 tall he has long legs , Phil heath is only 5"9 tall of course the shorter your legs are the bigger they are going to look, not to mention all the excessive roids and quimicals bodybuilders use this days. Arnold's physique was unique back then and there's no dout if Arnold was around in his prime like in his 20s on this days he would be the king, 74 that's over 50 years ago look at those pictures how many guys roam the earth this days with a physique like his, cooooooooom oooooon Phil respect "The Man"
That most muscular arnold did at the end of the video was nuts..
At 3:27
Agree, and his legs look great.
Ι think his most muscular is far more impressive than the side chest
Best body ever, Perfection
he can repel bullets while in this form
Arnold legs were ripped. They have great muscle separation. Remember too that he is taller than many body builders.
I can't believe how small he made Lou look! I thought 75 was Arnold's best look but I stand corrected lol.
Yes! Waited for this video! Nick you are legend!
Nick make a video on if Mike Tyson could have been a bodybuilder. His best shape was when he fought Holyfield in the rematch in 97
The best shape of Arnold ever..
Eric Stratman 74 is perfection
1974 was Arnold's "Swan Song'. He retired from BB in 1974. It was George Butler and Charles Gaines that convinced him to compete in 1975. They told him, emphatically, Pumping Iron won't work without him. So, he decided to compete one more year.
So, one reason why Arnold was so powerful in 1974, he was training like it was his FINAL competition ever.
The king of kings!
I dont know what it is about your voice, so relaxing to listen to haha ;p great content bro really!
I appreciate it bro!
Rasmus Frederiksen yes, no overused and cringey catchphraseeeze baby please ;-)
Shawana Washington - whenever I hear the word quallude, I have scarface flashbacks lmao
If Arnold didn't have to lose the weight after the 1974 Olympia I would say that in 1975 he would have been even bigger. In 1975 he was 232/233 while in 1974 he was around 245. I thinks his legs were the body part that suffered the most from the weight loss.
Arnold was tempted away from bodybuilding competition, I don’t think he even reached his best potential.
Damn, he was almost as in shape as I am now. Good on him.
Arnold was an artist, he was sculptin himself into something to look at
this is why Arnold Schwarzenegger is the king. Nick your da fucking man. your videos are the best in bodybuilding showing the history of the sport and forgotten names that should be remembered. 👊🏿
Agree. Arnold was the icon of that era period.
Awesome video Nick! Some pics in there I hadn't seen before... Specially at 2:44 when we was not posing... Man he was enormous! True legend. Greetings from Argentina Nick
he probably did weigh 250. that's pure muscle. not ballooned up synthol
Really enjoying the series man, keep up the awesome work!!!
Great video. Most people think of Pumping Iron and the movies (terminator) when they think of Arnold's physique. But he was much more massive and impressive in the years that you mention. Thanks for the constant education Nick. Keep up the good work.
Best of best...this is why his name is Arnold ..he inspired thousands of men into bodybuilding sport..Thank you ...God bless
Watching Nick for my daily dose of bodybuilding history. Thankyou for the uploads. I am glad that I found your channel a few weeks ago!
You're welcome bro. Thanks for subscribing!
After the 74 Olympia, Arnold was forced to lose a lot of weight and size due to the movie director/producers of the movie Stay Hungry that Arnold starred in. They wanted him t slim down for the role. Then he found himself having to regain size again for the 1975 Olympia. I heard him talk about this in an interview once. Had it not been for making that movie he may have come in just as massive in the 75 Olympia.
I'm loving your Arnold videos Nick
SMALL Legs.. pleeease. Arnold's legs were in the sense of the word beautiful, a chiseled work of art. It's been never said size was the framework for Arnold - it has always been about his physique, an almost perfect symmetry. Anatomy at its best in the entertainment arena. Thank you Arny for the memories you will leave us with!
the likes of your channel and vitruvianphysique channel are gold really enjoyable and informative and your channel is one of my favorite
good job all the best
Arnold looked like renaissance sculpture compared to todays bodybuilders who look like stuffed up playdoughs
His conditioning was also excellent here even though he was bigger. And his quads looked fabulous, he always had the calves. Probably his best physique ever. I agree.
I still imagine where Arnold could have taken his physique if he hadn't entered Hollywood and lost all that muscle. If 1974 was his biggest, imagine 1975 if he hadn't lost all that weight. His back and chest would have been crazy.
That too when he came back from retirement to film Pumping Iron.
Arnold was probably pumping way more drugs into his system since he knew he’d have to compete with Ferrigno. He probably didn’t want to maintain that muscle or steroid usage for too long after her won.
Arnold wouldn't have continued... He was getting tired of bodybuilding competition and started to loose the hunger for it.
Phil health said he had chicken legs. I prefer the golden ages personally they look better to me
tyler gnosis Phil gives no respect to any legend of the sport.
Thank you, Nick, for letting us admire these Great Physiques of Old School Bodybuilding! They All were GREAT!
I love the fact that your video's consist of just a couple of photo's, really simple.. and you still manage to make some really good quality video's Nick! I take my digital hat off to you good sir!
his calf development was much improved here compared to some earlier years, like 71. He talks about getting to train with Reg Park who was doing calf raises with a 1000 pounds.
Arnold WAS A BEAST!!!
Cool video with some rare photos! Amazing! Thank you.
Great video about the king Nick. You are doing a superior job of cataloging our sports history. I thank you and wish everyone gain's!
Arnold paved the way for all these cats to get PAYED TODAY
Back in the day when bodybuilders weren’t Pregnant
It's funny, I don't even like bodybuilding anymore and I still love your channel! Keep up the good work dude!
Nick, your doing a great job, very seldom do I watch a person's page. Very well thought out and put together. It's important the younger generation get educated with the past. Gyms were awesome prior to the 2000's. Arnold looked fantastic in 74. Interesting the different packages he put out. Many friends who trained at Golds told me that Arnold was so genetically gifted he didn't need to train as hard as the others, often goofing around with girls.
Loved this. Arnold is a legend.
Absolutely spot on Nick! Great video keep them coming!
Now THAT is a look that is pleasing. He looked complete. This is my favorite BB channel, keep this going. Bravo Zulu.
I agree! Great video Nick.
You're easily one of my favorite fitness video producers.
I've always maintained that Arnold had great legs, especially for a tall guy.
Great work Nick. Thanks so much. Bless.
More Arnold! He is a legend
Back when bodybuilding was great. Today most bodybuilders look the same, just a glob of muscles. No aesthetics
My favorite video you have made
Great video ;0)
Arnold certainly bought an awesome package of size, definition and symmetry that year :0) Inspiring stuff
another quality video by my boy NICK
Pumpin' out video's like IRON, keep up the good stuff bro.
Gold channel right here
Thanks brother
arnold at his best .... legendary body still to admire to this day!
Ahhh consistent uploads, love it
Keep up the good work Nick.
Will do bro
Nick, you are wiser beyond your years. Very good video.
Nick bro love your passion for bodybuilding; keep it up!
Every angle Arnold looks good. Some say his legs were weak, but I disagree. Much rather have arnolds legs than tom platz's.
I still really like his 75 showing his shape, symmetry, conditioning, size and color and posing routine was second to none.It may not have been his biggest but he was awesome, and some of the best calves of all time😊💪💪
another badass video bro!!! I watch em when I can you never slow down lol
You have amazing knowledge about bodybuilding. I know that you do a lot of research before putting up a video but still you know your shit. I'm loving all the videos you've been putting up recently as I get to know a lot through them and they're fun. Keep digging and carry on your work.
P.S- You're better than luimarco :).
It’s a huge credit to his physique and what he brought to bodybuilding that we are still talking about him 43 years after he retired for the first time. I still consider him to have the best side chest of all time.
Amazing video keep up the good work
Keep up the good work nick
Excellent Nick...bravo!
Great content, this one is gonna go viral
I just discovered this channel and I really like it.
Another amazing video bro
This is why I think Haney at his best couldn't beat Arnold art his best.
I agree! Arnold is simply unbeatable!
sergio > arnold > haney
The 1974 physique of Arnold!! perfect imo!! This is the physique that I'd love to obtain!! Of course I'm shorter in height but still would love to have that physique or similar!! Definitely goals right here!! Thank you for this amazing video!! I love old school bodybuilders and bodybuilding!! I'm not into today's bodybuilders!! Don't want a physique like the guys of today!! Again great video!!
Arnold has amazing muscles
Incredible, just amazing.
