      oldskool67 they question legs but relative to what? Mutant thighs which look vastly disproportionate? Arnold's legs were some of the best ever especially later in his career. But no, today they want disproportionate torso like legs that destroy the body symmetry as well as push further for features like polombosis, and unnatural looking muscle definements as well as destroying the back Arc by creating some sort of Mutant half cobra back instead of the body being developed in perfect proportion as arnold had done from top to bottom creating that beautiful symmetry and proportion progression.

And, he was 227 in 1975 and 217 in 1980 as per Jimmy's knowledge and expertise since he was at the weigh in's at all those competitions. He also said that Arnold was way off his form in 1980 but was the best overall that day. There's no better authority than Jimmy Caruso on the subject, so...

    • @CaneFu
      @CaneFu 5 лет назад +8

      @Mario Cantani While I agree that Arnold over-trained throughout his career that wasn't why he was underweight in 1975. I was 20 years old in 1975 and closely followed the sport as it was happening in real time back then and here's the facts..... Arnold made the movie "Stay Hungry" and the director told Arnold to lose 30 lbs. of muscle before filming started so he wouldn't overpower his diminutive costar Sally Fields. Arnold had actually retired from competition at that point but after he finished "Stay Hungry", producers Gaines and Butler (Pumping Iron book authors) came to him and talked him into coming out of retirement to compete in 1975 to make the movie Pumping Iron. In just over a hundred days Arnold brought his body-weight up from 210 to 228 lb.s for the contest which left him 12 lbs. less than he was at the 1974 Olympia. If Arnold had another month or two he would have easily gained his weight back and at least equaled his 1974 physique.

    • @miker5233
      @miker5233 4 года назад

      @Mario Cantani he had to lose weight he went from 2:45 in the 1974 Mr Olympia and he did a movie I believe stay hungry and they wanted him to be no more than 210 lb and then in 75 they wanted to pump and iron so he had to do one more Olympia and he was only 232 pounds

    Those 70's bodybuilders had it right -- small waists, broad shoulders, and beautiful sweeping lines. It's sad that people attribute him to having chicken legs. What people don't know is that Arnold retired after the '74 Olympia; then lost 30 pound for a movie role, because he was told that he was too big. He was persuade to compete in '75 because of the Pumping Iron documentary and he had only three months to get ready for that show. What a legend...

    About time, the 1974 Olympia got attention. This is where Pumping Iron should have been made. People look at Pumping Iron in 1975 and say, Arnold was not big enough, did not have enough legs etc. THIS is where its at. Arnold was perfect in 1974. He hit his peak with the right combination of lean muscle mass, striations, proportions, symmetry and dryness. If Arnold had trained his usual 8 month cycle in 1975 instead of only 3 months, he could have even been better.

    So, one reason why Arnold was so powerful in 1974, he was training like it was his FINAL competition ever.

    After the 74 Olympia, Arnold was forced to lose a lot of weight and size due to the movie director/producers of the movie Stay Hungry that Arnold starred in. They wanted him t slim down for the role. Then he found himself having to regain size again for the 1975 Olympia. I heard him talk about this in an interview once. Had it not been for making that movie he may have come in just as massive in the 75 Olympia.

    his calf development was much improved here compared to some earlier years, like 71. He talks about getting to train with Reg Park who was doing calf raises with a 1000 pounds.

    Nick, your doing a great job, very seldom do I watch a person's page. Very well thought out and put together. It's important the younger generation get educated with the past. Gyms were awesome prior to the 2000's. Arnold looked fantastic in 74. Interesting the different packages he put out. Many friends who trained at Golds told me that Arnold was so genetically gifted he didn't need to train as hard as the others, often goofing around with girls.

    It’s a huge credit to his physique and what he brought to bodybuilding that we are still talking about him 43 years after he retired for the first time. I still consider him to have the best side chest of all time.
