Yeah
Good to see father teaching his son, brings back memories of my dad passing along life skills .
He is such a great guy nice to see the father son time. You have a great old man Jr and a great teacher absorb all the info he is giving you daily knowledge is king.
brings back memories of riding with my dad when I was a kid, watching him steer with an elbow while shifting a gearbox with each hand. spent my whole youth learning to shift like him, and it paid off when i got to drive a 74 Jimmy for a while.
Your dad will teach you a lot hes old school .Enjoyed your interview and i watch Highway thru Hell all of the time its a great show good luck on your videos and keep practicing with the truck
Good job with the clutch James, listen to your Dad, he is giving you all the right advice.
Fantastic to see the new generation with such a want to perfect the art of opperating a truck. Ir's time we see you with that great big smile on your face
I have so much respect for your Dad and for what he has done for the industry. I'm sure glad that he kept all those old Holmes Wrecker bodies. Reminds me of what we used to do with all those Holmes 750's back in the day. You could buy a new one mounted for about $25,00 and there are still quite a few of them still in service, many with add on wheel lifts. They would winch anything with those outside drive winches, provided you could hold the wrecker down. It was a rare company that had the Holmes850 because the thing cost nearly twice as much. Now with the new heavy hydraulics and the rotators jobs are twice as easy but the cost of equipment and insurance has risen so much that you can't afford to have a bunch of new equipment just sitting around while your making payments on it.
Wow I remember seeing you as kid on your Dad's show. Amazing to see you all grown up!!!!
When I was taught how to back up, I was told to always use your mirrors. Never use a rear window as your first look, only use looking out the rear window if your not moving. Your mirrors are your friends, learn to trust them and give them a lot of attention. Great job!
Great job with the video James Jr. You’re a very calm and inquisitive young man and you’re learning from the best, lots of knowledge. Looks like you’re having fun and that’s important too. Looking forward to more of your videos.
thank you! and i look forward to making more videos!
This is the kind of teacher you can really learn a lot from. You’re not scared to ask questions or make mistakes because he might rip you for it, but he’s not going to outright drag you through the mud. He wants to teach and has patience. This is the person i would want teaching me all about tow trucking if i ever decide to pursue that interest of mine.
I still remember James Jr falling asleep in the cab of that tater on a few late calls in the early seasons of that show...and here he is, learning to drive....
wow....love these types of vlog entries, keep them coming....leave nothing out eh....we would rather see this type of stuff than the made for tv garbage that those execs put out....we would watch this kind of stuff for hours, and hours eh..!!
so good too see you taking after your old man....
God Bless you and your family...
Much Love...
Peace & Grace
My favorite was when Jr. went with his dad and recovered that truck that was jackknifed around a tree. Aggressive also showed up with their truck to life it out.
The 5x4's that I have driven I rarely used low in the aux. Usually just shift it like a 5x3.
Nice to see father training son, worked for a service company and we had a 78 Auto Car with big cam 3 400 Cummins with a 5+4 ,back box on air 750 Holmes tow anything miss them days
Thanks for sharing these videos, James Sr is a awesome person and definitely a great teacher, James Jr you are learning from the best!!
haha learning from a hall of famer!

Great video, I think a walk around the yard with Jamie describing the sitting equipment and the stories behind them would be highly enjoyable
Wow That young man sure has grown up. What a nice guy.
I think your dad is awesome! So glad to see you taking an interest. Keep up the good work!! Make your dad proud
Nice to see your son taking such a interested in towing he would definitely be a good operator👍
Really enjoyed watching this vlog and thinking of my father as he taught me similar skills! Happy Father's day Jamie!
I would like to see you vlog. You have great potential for content outside of the tv show. Even if it's only once or twice a week on a schedule. Keep it simple 15-20 min videos. Make sure when you are doing a video you get a walk around of the truck or equipment. Thank you for the content.
James, we all got to watch you drive your first 5-4 transmission! Congratulations, and may you have a successful career in whatever you do. It is great your dad gets into tearing his own stuff apart - its the best way as you really get to know your equipment vs relying on someone else to do it. Good luck getting someone to help you when it breaks in the field. Best to know yourself.
I always wanted to drive a truck when I was young, and here 50 years later and I still haven't done it. Still hoping tho...
I wish that I had someone like Jamie to teach me the ropes
Please keep the videos coming. Love the glimpse inside your world.
That’s great teaching junior. Great videos I enjoy watching them.
this is jrs channel aka me james , thanks for watching the videos!
Looking good Jamie. I remember the early days when you hauled for me. I worked with SD#34 Abbotsford School District. Also you hauled for me while I worked with the Teamsters Transportation Museum. Stay safe. The old school guy.
It is so lovely to see you taking such good interest in your dad’s trucks!! Don’t forget, hard work is what will make you succeed, and I wish you much good luck in life young man!!
Its always cool to see the guy behind the channel...good job in the truck. Your dad is spot on...fixing up the old or taking good parts from others and making 1 good one is loads cheaper..and you learn a bunch too...as you will when you get into rebuilding that trans.
Great job and keep on doing what you are doing.
thanks!
I love how you understand the business part of things!! In my day (I think I'm as old as your dad) I grew up on a poor man's acreage (farm) and if we couldn't make it or rebuild it, it wasn't needed. Our hay baler was made out of 3 different balers
thanks and that a cool story!
Thanks guys for all the updates I really enjoy all the stories and project updates
The 5 & 4 and not shifting with the clutch brings back fond memories I put over 250,000 miles on a 1978 long nose LTN 9000 Ford with a sixty foot Stinger crane all local miles here in West Virginia
This is great man. Good friends talkin' bout stuff. Good guys! Rare these days. This is what makes good people. Thanks Jamie. Kal🇨🇦🎼
Well James JR. !!! You are coming up in the world of towing !! Great for you !!! Thanks for the Q & A with Jamie !! Keep the videos coming & Always ""KEEP IT SAFE ""!!!
thanks for watching have a wonderful day!
Jamie this is a great video! I have a 77 359 with a 350 Cummins but it needs work and I am always looking for any helpful advice. These old trucks are classics! Great job on teaching your son!👍🚛🦝
Lucky kid. That's how professional drivers are made. I'm from Golden and really appreciate the work and dedication you all do and the videos you share.
James you have a handle on grasping things very quickly. And your dad Jamie is a very smart man that knows his way around wreakers! It seems to me you have a great relationship and can learn lots of life lessons from your dad!🙏❤️😎🇺🇸💯
nice to see one of your boys take what your teaching and want to learn
James Jr. you have a great father and teacher best of luck your friend from TX
It will take most more patients to learn how to work the air wipers then a 5 & 4 browny box
Learned to drive one of those when I was 12 or 13. Kind of miss those work horses. Nice to see you keep it going.
Great video. Good job your dad will teach you a lot . I hope Collin does come back
Nice seeing Jamie jr behind the wheel love watching you guys working together.
It will be nice to see your progress. You have a good teacher, so listen with care and ask questions. Enjoy your videos.
i will and thanks!
Great conversation! I really enjoy the show and watch a bit every night. Thanks, SueP
Good to see old iron out and being used... keep it going....
Just amazing to watch you learning from the master. I am looking forward to many more videos. Very informative and watching your dad chat about the history of all the trucks, engines, winches etc is just brilliant. Wow you gotta be my age to even know what a 5/4 transmission is. I wish you continued success with the channel.
Thank you so much!
I remember Brandon learning on the Ford 440
Yup me to!
A lucky young man! He’s got a fantastic dad!
19:50 good to see James Jr still asking questions and learning the business
I learned to drive a 74 Hays Clipper winch truck and a 78KW with a 20 T picker both with 350 Cummins and 5n4 setups. It’s a lost art!
I love it James, Teaching the next Gen, is Great ,grand pa always said if you can Drive it You should be able to fix it ,if not stay out of it.
Take it all in Jr. your Dad can teach u alot. Remember u has a small kid always ready to go on a job. Keep up the great work and good luck.
Here in the states we call shifting with no clutch. Float shifting. Master it young JR
Good job guy! Jaime, I think we are seeing the man who you will hand the reigns over to!
I’m 83, and I started my trucking career in a Autocar with twin sticks. I never really got the flow of shifting, and always hated it. I hauled well pipe with a 35’ Kentucky step deck. Making your son learn on a relict in my generation is cruel and unusual punishment, lol. Good luck!
That is a good video Jamie, teaching your son.
Thanks for the updates. Really enjoyed the video. Best of luck with the driving. Jamie gave me a tour of the yard a couple of years ago. Would love to visit again from 🇬🇧.
I'm glad you enjoyed the video and tour that you went on, thx for watching!
Hard to believe you are already driving!! I have watched you grow up on Highway thru Hell!!
If I was able, I'd love to do longhaul with one of the old trucks
The start up of that truck was awesome!!!! 👍👍👍
Great video he has grown to be a handsome young man and seems to be very interested so great to see you both interacting about those trucks. What lucky boy to learn about the 5and4 speed. Great seeing everyone
Jamie, this reminds me of driving a "B " model MACK cement truck . it was 18 speeds split @ 9 . I hauled 9 yards of concrete in a 10 wheeler ! Highly illegal, we had to keep the top chute up all the way or the concrete would spill out the back. I think the owner had some connections with the law . So that's 18,000 lbs of concrete plus the weight of the truck on 3 axles .
I would love the opportunity to drive a dual trans truck. You are one lucky young man. Great video. 👍
What a precious blessing this young man has to have a father to guide him I think the kid knows gets it and appreciates it. He will grow up to be a hell of a man just like his dad just like his dad.
Nothing like an old Pete with Cummings. Big like. 😊
Great video keep doing them safe travels
Good to Learn!
Love the cab light randomly coming on and off, made me laugh
Haha almost left that out but I like to keep my videos genuine!
Gives the truck character
Great video love watching you guys on the Shell highway through hell I’ve been watching for years I’m a big fan I look forward to seeing more videos in their future. In the season #1 I remember when Jenny was running the western star rotator that was my favorite track of the whole season my second favorite was Adam’s truck. That’s cool you learn how to drive a 5 and 4 transmission. I’ve been driving trucks many years but I’ve never had opportunity to learn how to drive transmission with a five speed in a four speed in it.
I have a 1966 D500 Dodge with a Holmes 500 on it was bought new as a wrecker only has 50,000 miles stored inside most of life seat is good and original. It only towes older stuff and never anything bigger than another 500 size
I drove a 5-4 and when you need to creep with heavy weight and hills it will get the job done.
Hey james try to use the mirrors, because big rig you don't have back window
and keep practice you be good at it
Thanks for the tips!
Good job gearjammer!
Really enjoy your videos Jamie. You should show your hole fleet of truck you have beautiful old Iron
Great video
Brilliant Jamie great video young fella doing well 🏴
Thank you and thanks for watching! And leaving positive comments!
Looks like fun teaching your son. Maybe James Jr. could get a haircut and share some with dad. Great job James Jr.
That rotator was like the flagship for so long. I remember seeing it any number of times during my travels
If I remember correctly they still show that rotator in the opening scene, loved that truck too
Good video Jr.
Awesome video!
Thanks!
great job driving the twin stick ! ,,,,,,,,,,,, ain`t nothin like the sound of a Hummin Cummins
Thanks
looks like u could be a good tow truck operator one day
James Jr. If you learn and master driving/ shifting that good old Pete. You can drive anything. Learn everything youngen. Learn how too work on the trucks. Then when you can drive great and work on the truck. You will be proffesional driver. Learn all you can youngster. Your off to a great start.
I like need more please! Thanks
Fixing things is coming back, is back
Awesome video thanks

Good Job Jr. you might get put in the Rotator one of these days. This video is also an update for Coastline's HR 50 it is almost done all that is left is the transmission and it is ready to go back to work.
Yessir but more like a few years down the line im not old enough to even get a class one yet
@@JamesDavisJunior keep working on it.
Dumnezeu sa te binecuvinteze 😀👍
Great Video.
Thanks!
We LOVE the WESTREN STAR 75 TON 750,000 DOLLARS ROTATOR !!!!!!!!!
Collin in one of my favorite drivers!
If you can rebuild something it's so much more satisfying
It pays to know how to do mechanics. James is a towing historian.
Nice video James. I’m in the process of learning how to drive stick
me too i cant wait to master it!
We all know you teaching him he will be a great heavy tow truck operator..
