The opening song drives me completely crazy ! This album is a total masterpiece, Rotting Christ has such a unique sound in the whole black metal sphere, even if I love many other bands.
This is the album that made me a fan of this band. It's just superb, in every single way. Every track is awesome. This is perfection from beginning to end.
I've said it before and I'm sure I'll say it again.. There's something to be said about an album that doesn't have a mediocre track tethered to it. I know my music, the tracking is structured perfectly - right down to the pacing - nothing out of place. Villagers of Ioannina City - Age of Aquarius is the only other "perfect" album I've heard as of late. I know music is supposed to be subjective but no.. I don't care if you dislike this genre, fact being personal preference speaks very little to the quality of the composition.

The demon is the state in between the mortal and the divine.Κατά τον δαίμων εαυτό means according to the inner demon self.It cannot be translated in english because the same people that came up and used the word demon later on in their history due to changing religious belief associated that word with something very bad and negative.In common english should be translated into something like follow your gut,your instinct.Hail to the land of the hyperborians from Hellas!

I was ignoring this band for a really long time, because of there name ( I don't consider myself christian, but I dislike the name). And also Black Metal seemed monotone, and stupid to me, before I really got to know it. Well I'm still not into real cvlt of early BM, but meanwhile I like it much more, than Death Metal for example. And especially Rotting Christ is one of my favorites, because of it's mystical and mythical vibe and atmosphere, and through interviews I gained a lot of respect for this band and this genre. Doesn't seem stupid to me anymore.
Well, I’m very impressed with their greatest hits “their greatest spells”, and to be truthful, I didn’t think I’d buy another one of their albums thinking I have it all the good stuff but listening to this, I don’t, this is great, I’ll be getting this. I’m not much of a black metal fan but Rotting Christ are different, they’re melodic BM and their greatest spells is some of the best I heard and just keeps getting better, and as for this, I’m sold, checking eBay now! I just listened to a bit of dark thrown and naah, it’s just not Rotting Christ, RC has got to be the greatest BM band of all time. Can’t wait to get this and I’ll likely get even more to support the band but only if I like it.
Their Greatest Spells was the best "best of" album ive ever heard. The only other bm band that comes real close to me is Agalloch. Theyre very different from RC but amazing.
Turns out this is one of their weaker albums, but I did end up buying it for like $13 on eBay along with another two albums that where great! RC are a great band, I just got Spotify free for 3 months, you can listen to their entire discography and pretty much every other artist I searched for. I’ll be staying onboard. I’ll see if that bands on Spotify, cheers
