  • Here is the conversion from Crosskart to buggy mode officially making this a "Variable Frame Kart." It is crazy fun in both modes. Check out the build group on Facebook to check out everyone's builds and tune in to the channel for all of the test runs and fabrication craziness! Thank you.

    Just checked out your Facebook group. Wow! Didn’t realize how many enthusiasts and building your kart. Congratulations on the success of your creation.You should be very proud of your accomplishment. Videos are super comprehensive, easy to understand, plans are on point. Thanks for your huge contribution to crosskarting in the US and to an affordable to build kart based on affordable high quality quad parts.

      Dave S thank you so much! I really tried to make this approachable for builders like myself. I would have loved to have discovered something like this 10 years ago. So I’m trying to put myself in fellow fabricators shoes to try and find ways to build, chat and show off their work. It is working way better than I hoped and it does make me proud to get builders in their garages to make something fun and affordable to customize and enjoy for years. This comment means so much and motivates me to work even harder for you guys. Thank you again.

    Happy you are including your family in this. It was started to help you deal with family loss, glad to see you using it to get closer to those here.
    I saw your daughter sit down and her legs dropped below the cage and my first thought was “Put a floor pan in it, please “.
    Love the videos and definitely more for off-road buggy. Keep up the great work and thanks for the knowledge and entertainment.

      My little Deun Buggy (Deunan), loves this stuff. She has her own kart and some of her own ruts in the yard.
      Floor pan gets ss riveted in after paint.
      Thank you for the compliments and interest in this. It means a lot.

      She will definitely drive it after I make sure it is completely safe and every bolt is lock tighted. She likes the first one even though buggy driving isn’t really her thing.

    Hi Kyle spent the last 4 nights watching your videos....very entertaining and you've done an amazing job. I'm thinking of building a buggy too but just can't make up my mind about which engine to go for. What do you recommend ? A big single trench digger like your KTM or a 4 cylinder Hirashima screamer ? Cheers John

    • @KJRaycing
      @KJRaycing  3 года назад +1

      Thank you so much! I am 100% for the KTM. It matches sooo well with this buggy and I’m pretty sure it is the fastest one (below 90mph). It pulls hard and came out to be 80 lbs lighter than the other two, doesn’t sound like much but is over 10% less and you can feel the difference. If I could find someone with deep pockets I would sell the 4 cylinder 600cc just to have a second 525 and some funds towards a two seater. But that is just my style and my opinion. I think burnouts, big drifts and raw acceleration is what makes these fun, other people want to go as fast as they possibly can; which I respect but is just not my flavor. Your choices of components is going to be based on your driving style, where you plan to ride and overall what you are going to do with it. Some of the builders are finishing up and I can’t wait to see all of the different setups and how they drive.

    LOOKS GREAT, when you are speed shifting it sounds like the clutch is slipping. Does is feel like it is slipping or just slow to engage??

    • @KJRaycing
      @KJRaycing  3 года назад

      Thank you! It just engages a little slowly or I may be feathering it a bit. Not taking it to redline makes it sound that way too. And I may need to adjust the hydraulic clutch a little more. All final assembly stuff.

    • @KJRaycing
      @KJRaycing  3 года назад

      It is a Trailtech vapor. I have used these for well over a decade. They are super easy to work with and have different sensors and setups and can work with pretty much anything! Thank you for the compliment and your interest in this!

    Just wondering when you keep having to lift and slow down due to the constraints of the size of the yard, do these lyrics ever pop in your head:
    'Oh Give me land, lots of land.
    under starry skies above, don't fence me in.
    Let me ride through the wide open country...'

    • @KJRaycing
      @KJRaycing  3 года назад

      It’s probably good my yard isn’t bigger... this thing scoots! I haven’t done the wheel bearings and tie rod ends yet so I really shouldn’t go much faster than this. Hubs and rods rebuild when it is off for paint 👍💪😁

    dont know about the front shocks there lent over a lot you have cut down travel and excessive load on the shock rods think id rethink them

    • @KJRaycing
      @KJRaycing  2 года назад

      Hmmm. Seems like they work great… The springs are for an ATV and I used math to reposition them to make the springs more effective at the cost of some travel. This wouldn’t be an under 5k build if I had 3k worth of shocks in it… You can build your however you want though 👍

    • @KJRaycing

      I do not unfortunately. I sell the plans and a detailed build series. It costs way less when you build your own (crosskarts sell for 30-60k).

    They are filming you, not to help you make a video, but as evidence of what happened to the yard! Remember you saying something about not over doing it.

    • @KJRaycing
      @KJRaycing  3 года назад

      Those all terrain tires are awesome! The wife and the yard do not like them much, but they really hook up for straight line acceleration but can still break loose for some fun. Thank you for the comments John Morgan.
