It's sold out in some forms... The worst thing about our culture is this idea that we're the most important people in the world. If we don't buy something, it can't be a success. There are billions of other people in the world who might love the Flip. The only people that won't find the Flip interesting, are people that already own a drone on its level or higher. Like people that watch these videos. A generous estimate of the so called "Drone Community" places it at around 10% of the drones sold. The largest drone only channels have 300k subs and are lucky to see 10,000 views per video.
@PeterLindgren1 DJI and all companies focus on bringing in NEW customers. You can't grow or even survive only selling to existing customers. "Why would I buy this drone when I have the Mini 4Pro?" No one, including DJI, expects you to buy the Flip is you already have a DJI drone.
@@PeterLindgren1Sorry, I'm agreeing with you... Hahaha! The rest of that is for the idiots in the comments saying that "no one is gonna buy it". Of course people will buy it. Again, the Fly More Combos sold out in a few hours. DJI is always trying to bring in new customers. Loyal customers are great but new customers and markets are how businesses grow.
@PeterLindgren1 And yet you say the gimbal is incredibly weak, so a beginner drone? The Neo, on the other hand, has proven itself as being incredibly robust. The Neo is a lot more affordable, so it is more likely to be what beginners will look for. Pros will buy the Air3(s) or Mavic series. I just do not see the Flip as having a very big buying public? Especially once more people realise how easily the drone is broken. Care refresh is great and all, but depending on where you live, you will still have to wait for the new drone to arrive.
The Mini 4 Pro also has a night mode. I live in the country (zero ambient light), so the ground is completely dark (its like you painted over the sensor). However in the winter when the ground is covered with a blanket of snow, you can see everything in night mode. Note: The Air 3S doesn't have night mode and you can't see anything - snow or not! Mini 4 Pro is an amazing drone. So do I fly the Mini 4 Pro in the pitch darkness? Yep, a few hundred times. With the strobe light flashing on its belly just forward of the battery, I can see the drone up to 3 miles away very easily. I go up at least 800 feet (way above any trees on the mountains). Then I look around for a distant light. Fly to it and look around - zoom in and out). Then for to the next distant light (there are several cell towers and two big water tanks in the area. I keep doing this until the battery gets to about 40%. Then look for the AR "H" to find my house and fly back to land. There is 800 acres of USDA land surrounding my property and have permission to fly on it (have known the government employees for 20 years).
Okay, I have to say this is the only video on the flip that I enjoyed. Especially the Chinese voices, my wife and I were rolling on the floor laughing! 😅😅 Nice job Peter! 🤙🤙
I remember when I got my mavic air 2... it was overheating out of the box and would force landing after 60 seconds. Thank goodness I wasn't over water when it was doing that! I took the whole thing apart and put in new thermal paste and heat pads and it worked beautifully after that. Ended up selling it to someone and they immediately slammed it into a wall lol I got my air 3S now tho and it seems to be well sorted out
The phone wifi mode on these is supposed to be limied to 50 meters. The scene where you tried to get it to follow the moving car seemed like it was too high.
I don't have much use for a Mavic, but the Neo seemed fun because it could follow me while I am riding my electric unicycle, and I wouldn't need to find a friend to tag along to chase me with a cinewhoop. Even better, the Neo's prop guards would make me feel OK about letting it follow me on our paved bike trails. But the Neo's camera isn't great, and the Neo's top follow speed is a little slower than my usual cruising speed on my wheel. It looks like the Flip could keep up with my wheel, it has a better camera, and it only costs about twice as much. That's not too bad! I am not sure I need it, but I think the Flip is neat. It sits somewhere between the Neo and Mavic Mini. As for the batteries, Peter, we will probably keep seeing custom batteries in nearly every single 249-gram drone. They are trying to cram every last mAh into that pack as possible with just enough amps of current while *JUST BARELY* squeezing in under the weight limit.
Dude, the neo batteries are smaller than the Mini, STILL more powerful! They could’ve made the same batteries as the mini 🤷🏻. Yeah it’s a great drone for those that doesn’t want any hassle, but I still recommend the Mini 👍🏼
@@PeterLindgren1 I am sorry, Peter. I am a dope! My smooth brain forgot that the Neo is barely more than half of the 250g weight limit! Now you've got me upset that DJI doesn't let you cheat and slot one of the bigger batteries into the Neo! I'm not brave enough to let an open prop drone track me while I have to stay safely on my wheel at 35 km/h. Flying FPV, I have had enough close calls from people wandering in from totally unexpected directions into unexpected places. With my luck the Mini will eventually snag someone who jumps onto the trail on their bike before I even see them coming! :) You're doing a good job, Peter. Keep up the good work!
In theory and my opinion, the Gimbal should be able to be locked out in FPV mode through programming like the Mini 1 and 2 and I presume the 3 and 4. DJI should also be able to add support for the Motion Controller 3, FPV Controller and Goggle N3 or Goggles 3 to allow for FPV flying experiences, if they do not add this the high price point means it will probably be a FLOP!
If I'm being honest, I think it did remarkably well considering it got hit by a car lol. The fact that the prop guards stick out a little bit farther than the camera probably saved the camera from being totally fubar.
Saw that the local DJI store already carried the Flip, so I thought I'd look for reviews. As I scrolled through RUclips's search results, I was like "isn't this the dude who got roasted by Gerald Undone a while back?", and that is how I ended up watching the entirety of this review. 10/10 zero regrets, would watch again, especially for the leaf blower test.
That was really entertaining and love your dad!! I was thinking about getting a Flip to carry on the motor cycle as the M3 Pro is too big but now naaaaaaa 😃 Thanks for an awesome review and video!
@@PeterLindgren1 Yes, thanks Peter, I didn't know the Flop would only track humans until watching your video. Must be something to do with tracking via AI. Mini defiantly is a better idea, now I just have to figure them out because all the way from the Spark to the M3 Pro I have never owned a Mini....
Love your videos and your opinions, I have the mini 3 pro, and the NEO but I don't have the flip, however I think you missed some points to give it a fair review. First of all it is not lidar, it is a infrared sensor. Second, the distance of 2 meters in the AI flights can be switched on the options to go much further, just conect your phone via WiFi and change it. For instance the rocket can go to 20 meters (10x more)
Valid points! However, that's why i said "I think there's some sort of Lidar". When it comes to the quick shots, i never used the app so i didn't know that was a thing, didn't find an option to adjust it in the remote? But, added it in as a pinned comment on top. I think the drone is great, but it's still not on par with what i would expect from a drone this size. For beginners though, it's great. And that's also what i say at the end of the video =)
@PeterLindgren1 I'm not sure cause I only have the FPV remote for the NEO, but I think the only way to change the settings of the AI shots is with direct wifi in the cellphone. It is definitely not a drone for me, and I don't see much use for it with all the DJI line nowadays but innovation is always welcome. Just got the NEO because it is a cheap way to start practicing FPV, the flip is a hybrid that doesn't do anything great in my opinion, but wanted to tell you just to be fair with the drone. Keep up the good work. Best regards
Damn, cool review tack så mycket. I hope I don't retreat from getting tgeflip I am still waiting for it. I had the Neo for a week but after I saw the flip I had to have it. How did you change it to English? Haha
Thanks for the honest opinion.. I recently reviewed the Mazda MX5 and the Porsche 911, I would recommend the 911… the Mini3, the 3, not the 4 Pro which costs 50 to 68% more than the flip that should be compared. Also, it will, for the price, do what 99% of the non videographer need it to do. It will be a huge success given the price, so will the NEO. I barely don’t use my Mini anymore when traveling or doing sport.
Buying a Mini 4 pro means you won't have to sell and upgrade though. You'll also get a more reliable drone that is capable of capturing more versatile shots BY FAR. The camera is great on the flip, but the drone is too weak for a lot of things.
@@PeterLindgren1 Agree with that! My point is that given the much lower pricing of the FLIP, the drone to compare it with is the Mini3 (which is also the comparison DJI does when using their online drone selector). The Mini4 Pro is in a higher league, more suitable for users that edit their videos, but that comes with its price tag.
Man that over sharpening and blownout highlights, that's a major pass for me. I was looking forward to a budget drone with 10bit dlogm but apparently we should just wait another generation for a bigger sensor to trickle down from the minis or if maybe 🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔 what if they made a drone that is compact in size but we can connect to it our DJI SoMo action 5pro or action 4?!!!!! And it integrates perfectly! Without the diy hassles! And it's upgradable through only swapping up the osmo action without having to pay for a whole new drone
DJI are very clever with marketing and very mean changing the battery style on all new models, I feel, the Flip/Neo are competitors to the Hoverair, whilst the Flips camera is better than the Neo, the Neo offers more potential flying options if you already have the goggles etc and is better value, the best sub 250g drone in my opinion is the Mini 4 Pro as it can do most of what its bigger brothers can do, and it does it well, regards
@ in the it same versions it’s 400$ less. (At least in Spain) 700$ vs 1129$ both in fly more combo bundle with rc2. The mini 4 has more features, right. But also the flip can do shots with no rc. This is more for alone travelers, for example. They are for diferent users. Each one has it’s own advantages and disadvantages. But the Flip is cheaper and has the same camera 😉
@ yeah the fly more combo of both is more expensive, but if you buy the Mini with only the RC2 and one battery it’s the same as the flips fly more combo. The Mini4 simply is better in every way 🤷🏻
@ not in every way. They are drones with different purposes. Overall is the M4P better? Yes. And it’s also 400$ more expensive. Is not fair to compare M4P with RC2 and say its same price as FLIP fly more combo. We have to compare the same bundle. Flip fly more combo RC 2: 729€ Mini 4 fly more combo RC 2: 1129€ Flip and just RC2: 639€ Mini 4 pro just RC: 999€ So we are talking 400€ or 360€ of difference for having the same camera quality. And each one has its strengths and weaknesses. But saving 360/400€ for same camera quality I think that’s a great option. The flip is a drone designed for automatic shots. Taking it from your pocket, put in the air and take the shot. Is like the Neo. But better camera!!! And they also allow you to control it as it is was a M4P!!! The hover air cannot do that! Hover air has poor camera and cannot fly as a regular drone. So… the M4P is a better drone for filmmaking? For sure!!! But there are some people that the Flip is more suitable. I don’t know why there is a lot of people blaming it. Can be better? For sure! I missed backward sensors for example. But… from the point we started. It’s seated between the Neo and the M4P in functions, quality also in price. I don’t see what’s wrong here. I guess it’s a drone that does not suit your needs, neither mine. But I don’t see what’s wrong with it. In few month we have the mavic 4 pro for us 😊
@PeterLindgren1 im too much into work, family as i recntly purchased a house, plus i work during the day and play ps5 at nights sometimes, would not fpv be too difficult for me? Then if I get the neo, I would have to spend over 700-800 to really get rcn3, googles and motion controller to just find out that camera quality is shit. And then if I get the flip I would have a neo and pro mix but no fpv. We'll but I could still fly in tight spaces with the flip. You know what in trying to say here? Like I wish there was 1 drone that did everything Ai tracking, fpv and stabilized with the same camera quality of the flip. I guess I would have to go for the flip for now. I owned a mini 2 se and loved it's photos despite wanting fpv capabilities. So I would always lack something in any drone right? But like I said i want something safe too, already sold my mini 2 se to upgrade to the flip in theory but it has no fpv. Not sure if I should get an avata refurbished one but then avata only as 12megapixels. In conclusion I spent 1 year and a half sending my old mini 2 se only in vertical because I was afraid of flying lol. It was until a couple of weeks ago I began to practice indoors and also sent the mini 2 1 km in horizontal distance. I think testing mini 2 se gave me false expectation as I was flying the drone in cine mode. I also see the flip has fpv mimicking mode and that could work as a hybrid for me with propeller guards?

Nearly bought NEO but seeing its crappy camera, I hold back. The flip is perfect as all I need is follow me and good video quality. It's already sold out in my area and need pre-order. People who fly normal drone like Mini or Air will not like this one.
I simply want a drone that can follow me on my MTB or MTS doing tricks down forested single-track, some switchbacks at 15-20mph. Can anybody confirm that DJI Mini 4 Pro can do this? Can DJI Flip or Hover X1 Pro or any drone on the market do this? Every video I've seen, the drone is lost within 2 minutes of following a fast biker.
Does nothing for me Peter. I don’t think it’s adequate for a beginner either. Does nothing significantly different that my Mini 3 Pro and Air 3s can’t other than fly into trees

That’s what I say at the end of the video. It’ll be a great drone for beginners 👍🏼
@PeterLindgren1 DJI and all companies focus on bringing in NEW customers. You can't grow or even survive only selling to existing customers.
"Why would I buy this drone when I have the Mini 4Pro?"
No one, including DJI, expects you to buy the Flip is you already have a DJI drone.
@@londenardnor did I say that I expect anyone like me to buy that drone. Watch my conclusion at the end 🤷🏻
There is 800 acres of USDA land surrounding my property and have permission to fly on it (have known the government employees for 20 years).
your dad's reaction is gold
Love from Pakistan Peter! Remember, We Love YoU!
Not LIDAR. No warning sticker on it. Says "forward and downward uni directional obstacle sensing" on their site.
it seems to have some IR / LiDAR in the front cover. Looks like it when I shot it in slow mo
@@PeterLindgren1 its some sort of 3D IR sensor if I remember correctly
You are one talented man!
Thank you my kind friend 🙌🏼🤓
Another honest review, thanks! And actually a bit fun :D Have a nice day, sir!
Thanks, you too!
Aesthetically when folded up ,the Flip looks like it requires its own parking space and access ramps .
Good for tracking snails in the wood! 😂😂😂
"spokes" is the word you were probably looking for those wires inside the protective prop guards.
Congratulations. I've watched a ton of Flip videos since release and this is the first crash I've witnessed 🙂
This video more than anything else compared to other reviews teaches one thing - read the instructions😀
Yeah, I knew it could fly… just never used the quick shots 😂
Okay, I have to say this is the only video on the flip that I enjoyed. Especially the Chinese voices, my wife and I were rolling on the floor laughing! 😅😅 Nice job Peter! 🤙🤙
Great video. Love your style. Subscribed!!! Keep them coming
Thanks for the sub!
Just rewatched 1:58 5x. Amazing 😂!
@PeterLindgren, Your Dad should have his own channel: "Papa Lindgren's Wise Words." He made me spit my coffee with his response to the Flip. 😂😂
good idea :)
I remember when I got my mavic air 2... it was overheating out of the box and would force landing after 60 seconds. Thank goodness I wasn't over water when it was doing that! I took the whole thing apart and put in new thermal paste and heat pads and it worked beautifully after that. Ended up selling it to someone and they immediately slammed it into a wall lol
I got my air 3S now tho and it seems to be well sorted out
5:45 i like dji but if someone wants to start fpv then go with a dedicated fpv quad or build one
Your dad just made me choke on food laughing
Hahahaha, he's a character lol!
same sensor as Mini 4 pro has . You can buy 2 Flips ( when it crushes ) for less than 1/2 price of Mini 4 pro
The Mini 4 camera is way more durable though
It looks like superglue vapors got in/on the lens and dried.
I had something similar happen on a camera experiment I was doing a few years ago.
Most likely something like that yeah
The phone wifi mode on these is supposed to be limied to 50 meters. The scene where you tried to get it to follow the moving car seemed like it was too high.
It was with the remote
You're doing a good job, Peter.
Great thumbnail 😂
FINALLY someone noticed 😂
I wanted it to hook up to my N3 goggles so I can just go fly with the birds.
Hahaha, that instant car crash. Nice video Peter
If I'm being honest, I think it did remarkably well considering it got hit by a car lol. The fact that the prop guards stick out a little bit farther than the camera probably saved the camera from being totally fubar.
It did!
Still broke on the weakest point of the gimbal, which is not a good thing.
It survived crashing into your car! Pretty neat beginner drone but I agree, I much rather have a remote.
Love me w non-sponsored tech video.
haha I like you Bro!! Had fun watching!🤜🤛🔥🔥🔥
Thanks for the visit man 💪🏼💪🏼
0:46 damn i thought that was gonna be some sick transition lmao
Saw that the local DJI store already carried the Flip, so I thought I'd look for reviews. As I scrolled through RUclips's search results, I was like "isn't this the dude who got roasted by Gerald Undone a while back?", and that is how I ended up watching the entirety of this review. 10/10 zero regrets, would watch again, especially for the leaf blower test.
LOVE IT!
That thumbnail is fire ❤🔥
What model and year RAV4 is that?? It’s beautiful!!🤩
That was really entertaining and love your dad!! I was thinking about getting a Flip to carry on the motor cycle as the M3 Pro is too big but now naaaaaaa 😃 Thanks for an awesome review and video!
The Mini will be your best buy! Capable of tracking you while riding
It's soooo simple!
Dude the NEO is so much fun lol! Thanks for watching!
@@PeterLindgren1 it is, but has a major issue..it tends to crash a lot in my hands 😂
Great review. You called it as you saw it rather than falling all over the drone because it's new like so many other reviewers.
Love the thumbnail
I'm waiting on Mavic 4 Pro ... I thought it was a flop myself !!
Damn, cool review tack så mycket. I hope I don't retreat from getting tgeflip I am still waiting for it. I had the Neo for a week but after I saw the flip I had to have it. How did you change it to English? Haha
Thanks for being honest. Not many dare to be nowadays. :)
Always honest in my videos! Sponsored videos won't ever be reviews on my channel.
I wish dji would make the avata2 compatible with the RC2 in normal and sport just like the Neo is.
11:55 must be specifically for people who love to film snails with their drone
Man that over sharpening and blownout highlights, that's a major pass for me.
I was looking forward to a budget drone with 10bit dlogm but apparently we should just wait another generation for a bigger sensor to trickle down from the minis or if maybe 🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔 what if they made a drone that is compact in size but we can connect to it our DJI SoMo action 5pro or action 4?!!!!!
And it integrates perfectly! Without the diy hassles! And it's upgradable through only swapping up the osmo action without having to pay for a whole new drone
May the force be with you!
i thought the flip couldn't record cars......... oh wait.....
Classic of watching a drone video of yours, and the drone crashes :D
DJI are very clever with marketing and very mean changing the battery style on all new models, I feel, the Flip/Neo are competitors to the Hoverair, whilst the Flips camera is better than the Neo, the Neo offers more potential flying options if you already have the goggles etc and is better value, the best sub 250g drone in my opinion is the Mini 4 Pro as it can do most of what its bigger brothers can do, and it does it well, regards
I have tested before launch and Made a video. I have to tell it’s like a Mini 4 Pro quality camera!!!! But much cheaper
It’s not much cheaper. The fly more combo is the same as the Mini4 with the RC2.
The mini4 also has way more features
@ in the it same versions it’s 400$ less. (At least in Spain)
700$ vs 1129$ both in fly more combo bundle with rc2.
Flip fly more combo RC 2: 729€
Mini 4 fly more combo RC 2: 1129€
Flip and just RC2: 639€
Mini 4 pro just RC: 999€
So we are talking 400€ or 360€ of difference for having the same camera quality.
In few month we have the mavic 4 pro for us 😊
I'm gonna pass on the FLOP lol 8 drones are enough for now. Great video though
what's the price?
Fly more combo is $779
Let's be honest is made this video just because of the thumbnail.
the DJI flip looks just like the star wars D-0 droid At least when it is folded. look it up and you will see what i mean.
Haha yeah I saw that too
The last sentence of the review says it all about this drone 😜
0:50 how did you get the car shots ? Flying while in the car 😂 😅!?
Haha yup lol!
Love my Flip!
Such a great video thank you love your Chinese lol
For sure the drone was going to brake with a car. If your car was going to 40kph then the crash duplicated to 80kph
It was a mere bump though, managed to break very hard before touching it. The only thing that broke were the weak point of the camera.
@PeterLindgren1 im too much into work, family as i recntly purchased a house, plus i work during the day and play ps5 at nights sometimes, would not fpv be too difficult for me? I mean i just wanted to have a good quality camera drone along with fpv but that combination does not exist. If i get avata 2 (which I would have to save 700 bucks more as I only have 500 now, then I would only get fpv experience but avata does not have sensors as the flip nor the quality of the flips camera, so I would be missing cinematic shots.

I also live in a place where wind blows a lot not sure if avata is better than flip in wind but i heard avata is mot good on wind. Something i forgot to say i live in a blue zone 2kms away from a sesna airport, thats the reason i want protection and sensor so.i can fly as low as possible and not hit house nor planes lol
Nearly bought NEO but seeing its crappy camera, I hold back. The flip is perfect as all I need is follow me and good video quality. It's already sold out in my area and need pre-order. People who fly normal drone like Mini or Air will not like this one.
It’s exactly the use case it’s made for (as I said in the end if the video). You’ll enjoy it for sure!
Wear high contrast clothes and the Mini 4 should work!
@@PeterLindgren1 Thanks Peter. Noted. However with the $1000+ investment, I'd like to find a sound example video confirming it.
Dont recall dji ever making a flop lol
Me neither
It's definitely a flop, it's bulky, it's fragile and it's slow compared to the mini
Yep, totally agree!
It flops because you crash onto it 😂
On side note, i dont think its as strong as Neo build wise.
Are you going to do 100m drop test with it?
The Neo is awesome
I agree this drone does look like a Flop. Great review, thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Great dive. I will pass on the Flop.
Good information, thanks, not for me, my minis and my Neo are great
10:26 well that's a capfish for sure😢
I actually enjoy my aerodynamic shiny head 😂
@PeterLindgren1 fair enough 😅
If you watch the video I explain that it’s a good drone for beginners that want no hassle.
It's not worth upgrading from my NEO
same as me
Definitely!
They say this is a begginer friendly and breaks off the gimbal easily? Yup it's a flop.
Yeah it has a really weak point by the gimbal attachment!
Does nothing for me Peter. I don’t think it’s adequate for a beginner either. Does nothing significantly different that my Mini 3 Pro and Air 3s can’t other than fly into trees
The drone nobody asked for
Круто друже
If u like to break stuff like a caveman...then there is nothing to learn here.
Yep a flop for me….man you crashed that a number of times lol
Not happy with the video quality
If you shoot in D Log M you get great image quality, but shooting in Auto makes it look kinda bad.
@PeterLindgren1 ok thanks for the information 👍
i understand Chinese... really not a joke
Well I don’t, and i was honestly surprised that it switched from English to Chinese!
Was fun to try to speak it though :D
