    what i do some times to not smear the lead is I put a piece of paper under my drawing hand. That way the oil on my hand won't get onto the paper. Some artists will also use a cotton glove with the fingers cut off. That also helps and looks pretty cool too.

    I used to have the same problem with my sketch books (except my book was pretty full but with incomplete drawings) lol. The best thing I did for my work is accept that I wasn't going to be perfect and sort of embrace it.
    There's no avoiding the awkward stage of bad anatomy, proportions and shading. The sooner you face it head on the sooner you improve and it's already paid dividends in the quality of my work.

    I'm the same regarding sketchbooks, I want them so fabolous that I tend to forget their purpose. And I started sketching mostly on photocopy paper but I realised that a sketchbook makes me happier, for some reason. I love looking at other people sketcbooks btw, so much inspiration XD Interesting info about the colored pencil led, I didn't know about them, def a must buy for me, sketchin in colors really sets me free LOL

    The weight of the paper is measured by what it would weigh in a ream--which is about 500 sheets of paper--so--if you would gather about a ream of paper(500 sheets) it would weigh about 110 lbs. It is what printers use when printing. I hope this has helped you in some small way --

  • @destineewebb3137
    @destineewebb3137 10 лет назад +4

    the 110 lb. means that if you had 500 sheets of paper with that same thickness it would weigh 110 lb.

    You hit the nail. I never want to draw on my sketchbook because I always want the drawings to look awesome. That is a interesting idea with the small sketchbooks. You guys really amaze me. This guys hasn't really been doing anything on RUclips since last year in November. Yet your asking questions as if he'll actually end up answering.... No copy paper isn't. Unless your drafting

  • @xingyuzhou1891
    @xingyuzhou1891 3 года назад

    Pilot Drafting Ink is water-soluble, so it's very easy to clean. Deleter Black 4 is both waterproof and alcohol-proof. Pilot Drafting Ink does have better flow. I mainly use Speedball Super Black India Ink, though, because it's much cheaper.

  • @ravyne82
    @ravyne82 11 лет назад

    I believe that they use pounds because when creating the paper, before they cut it into the size the consumer buys, they have it on rolls. They roll a certain amount onto the roll, but it will weigh differently depending on the thickness of the paper. I saw that on a "how's it made" episode, I believe.

    I pulled out my Sketchbooks today from watching and learning from this video yesterday. I too only have about 15 pages filled up out of 110 sheets in one book. The other book..oh boy...yikes. You are right!!! Thank you for telling us these are sketching book for practice, not to go and jump in thinking each page is a great work of art. Whew...I had a dig a minute to find them both. Thank you for this video and the others too. My people look 100% better using your 7 heads method of drawing. All of mine, too long, fat in areas, yuck in some areas and wow. I have to follow guide lines I see. Thank you again. You do Fantastic work.

    It's in pounds because they take 500 full size sheets (they're 17"x22") and weigh them. Ordinary printer paper is like 24 lb, while watercolor paper is usually around 140 lb. Thanks for the video.

    Jetpens is awesome!!! Thats where I get most of my supplies.
    With the paper, the B4 is referring to the paper size (A4 is about the same size as standard copy paper, but B4 is the standard for manga), and the paper weight is referring to the how much a stack of 500 pieces weigh. Hope that helpsb=D

    That's it! I always erase stuff in my sketchbook because they look crappy and stuff (my friends and family always want to see it and I show it to them), so it's pretty empty even though I've had it for like a year. I guess I should start studying and trying things out in my sketchbook. :) Thanks for the info!

    i have a rough book to practice,
    but i also have another sketch book, where i draw all my pieces.
    i dont like drawing on sheets,
    so i buy notes with tearable usually a4 landscape,
    so if i dont like or if i wanna scan or something, i just tear off the page.
    that book has all my good stuffs.

    the reason paper goes by weight is because a certain amount sheets ways a certain, like 1000 sheets of sketch paper will be 50 lbs, while 1000 sheets of illustration board might 125 lbs.

    Basically, from the front of you desk (closest to you) to the back, you should see paper, then your camera, pointed at the paper.

    b4 stands for the size, its like a4 but its bigger, the 110 pounds stands for the weight in a square meter
