I envision HW similar to Shogun era Japan. So White, while not technically a queen, is the de facto ruler above the "queen" that is Blue. (Like how the Shogun was above the Emperor.)

Another bit towards Blue Diamond being part of the colonization process: Lapis is presumably part of her court and came to Earth. Why would they need a Gem that has extremely powerful hydrokinesis? To move water about during construction or even off-world.

Well, in the series Lapis herself stated that she was there for just a visit and accidentally got caught in the crossfire. She was an aristocratic gem, not really meant for battle. Although I see potential in this theory as there might have been other Lapis Lazulis.
The general gem of Lapis was a high class, aristocratic type, but they were made to fly and have hydrokinesis meant to help with the architectures under Blue Diamond's authority. So Lapis wasn't there to help, but that's what her gem was meant for.

+Tystarr2k2 it's far more likely that someone from the crewniverse would be feeding information to the "SU theorist" to either confuse them or to point out things that the average simpleton hasn't picked up. As AJ has said many times, most of his theories as combinations of the entire lore, and many of them are not large leaps, but that the average fan has not watched every episode multiple times, read every publication and played every game to endorse one's self within the lore.

I think everything you said is reasonable.
The only thing I would add is that Pink Diamond was probably also in charge of exploration. Exploration and managing the Kindergartens would go hand and hand. Remember that Pearl loves space exploration and she wore a pink diamond on her space suit.
Yellow diamond even looks like a military commander. Look at those huge shoulderpads, jarhead-esque hairstyle, and design of her top and breeches/boot combo just scream General.
So:
Yellow = military and technology
Blue = Culture and Structures
Pink = People and resources
White = The overseer.
The white people are always the ones that rule...sigh...

With the white diamond being a big deal thing, it makes sense, seeing as colored diamonds are caused by impurities, while completely clear diamonds are pure.
Also, apparently in real life, white diamonds are the flawless diamonds. Diamonds that are colored (such as yellow and blue) are colored due to impurities in the gem. This could be a reason why White Diamond is the leader: she's literally flawless. However, there were no impurities found in pink diamonds that cause them to be pink, so that's something to speculate on...
Also, I have a question: if gems are made in kindergartens, how were the first gems made? i think the diamonds were the first gems made, but how did they appear? at first I was thinking that all gems were made in the ground, but kindergartens just make them form faster than naturally. That, or they just make it possible for gems to grow on other planets. What do you think?

Looking back, I think you really hit the nail on the head with this one, aside from Pink (but even that segment had some very interesting observations with the extremely limited information we had on Pink at the time). Nicely done, I’d count this as a win.

Pearl cannot be tied to white diamond, in the episode Space Race pearls suit shows a pink diamondon her chest, therefor tying her to Pink Diamond. Every Gem who served a diamond on homeworld seemed to have a diamond on their uniform to match their own diamond. Maybe this could reveal something about pearls past, maybe she saw what the diamonds were doing just like rose, or her and rose were working together on the kindergarten so she feels guilty for all the things homeworld did. I don't know it all but hey that is what theories are about right?

I believe that this is a fusion between White, Yellow and Blue Diamonds. This explains the green triangle surrounding the 3 smaller triangles in the diamond authority symbol, as well as the small, dark green triangle where those three small triangles overlap.
This could link to the theory that Peridot's green-hand ship is dispatched from a huge, gem-shaped, space station/ship. Specifically a replica of Green Diamond/Emerald.
I know this is not an original theory but i believe it and would like to see a video on it. Thanks.

Jasper isn't from Yellow Diamond. Her Diamond is Pink Diamond. After Rose shattered PD, Jasper attempted to follow YD and Yellow Diamond is Peridot's diamond so, she has to follow YD. BTW, Amethyst's Diamond is Pink Diamond because, even is she was made from the kindergarten, she is supposed to be like Rose Quartz and if Rose is a Quartz and made from Pink Diamond that means, Amethyst's is a Quartz as well because, she's supposed to be like Jasper and Rose and they're both from Pink Diamond so, if Amethyst is like Jasper and Rose that means Amethyst's Diamond is Pink Diamond.
Amethyst doesn't have a Diamond. And while Jasper's original Diamond was Pink Diamond, she is definitely under Yellow Diamond now. You know, since Pink Diamond is dead.

This raises the question: What happened to pink diamond? Why is her symbol gone? Is it because someone under her rule caused the war and she couldn't control them? What if Rose(assuming she was a quartz warrior under pink diamond's rule) somehow poofed her? But that wouldn't make sense, because then wouldn't she be honored? Or maybe hated for being weak enough to be defeated by one of her gems. What if Pink diamond had a large role in the rebellion? What if she was one of the many inspirations for Rose to rebel? You said she might be in charge of reproduction, so what if she got tired of her technical creations being mistreated? What if she was the actual rebel, but the other diamonds covered it up? What if Rose rebelled in honor of pink diamond as well as in honor of Earth? Why is Pink diamond's symbol under everyone else? If reproduction is her job, then she would be next to Yellow or Blue diamond, since reproduction is very important. Maybe her beliefs were different than the others? Maybe the other diamonds moved her to the bottom for that reason? Then finally removed it because of the rebellion?
These are many questions that probably don't have enough evidence to answer but this has just gotten interesting. Maybe when more is revealed, you could do a video about pink diamond? And sorry for the long paragraph.

I don't know if it's your delivery of it or the wording but these videos always make me feel like I'm listening to actual war/historical theories and I like it.
This longer theory video was nice to sit through. I can't say you should do this more often, though, because I can imagine this was incredibly difficult to pull off and doing it often would probably be more work than fun.
And, if the theory about our Pearl is White Diamond Pearl is true, the fact Peridot said she was a fancy Pearl could support White Diamond be the top diamond. After all, the best and most fancy thing will always belong to the leaders.

I'd love to see the implications of a gem being "defective", like how do they treat them in homeworld.

She was probably made to serve the 4 Greatest Diamonds, however the time she was made they found out that she is quite defective, so they decided to throw her away or destroy. Rose saw Pearl's gemstone to be thrown or destroyed by the Gem Creation Program employees then she took pity on Pearl's fate, so she decided to adopt or take Pearl from the gem creators.
+mestre12 the problem with that is that peal isn't a fancy model because she has a premium feature or is an expensive model, she was fancy because she has a personality and has thus accessorized herself.
remember the fact that our pearl is thousands of years out of date compared to current models, so even if she was a lambo at the time, she'd be a junk heap now. Peridot finds pearl interesting not because of her gem features, but because she breaks away from the normal pearl mindset and has achieved beyond what should be possible for a lowly pearl.
Peridot could be referring to Pearl's current fashion and personality expression but she could have also said it based off what she observed on homeworld and what characteristic an Pearl would have based off what Gem Court there in and who they serve, Peridot at the time was very biased toward an Homeworld mindset. I just feel like there's more to it than just Pearl's way of expressions, Pearl serving some of an high rank just makes a lot of sense.
great theory, like always, but I have something to add and hopefully I don't sound dumb lol. so, first off, I feel like I should say this because some people don't know but colored diamonds are naturally occurring, although they get their color from chemical impurities or defects in the crystal lattice. white/color less diamonds are "pure" with no impurities or lattice structure problems. SO, with that being added to what you've said about white diamond being the "overseer" I feel like it just makes even more sense for that to be her role.

Your theory is great as usual and makes sense:)I just want to point out to strengthen your white diamond theory- there is no warp pad to the moon base.The lack of a warp pad could indicate that the relationship between WD and her followers/underlings is similar to real life where civilians cannot just walk into the Buckingham Palace and have tea with the queen.WD is the highest authority in gem society,she is THE queen and her presence near earth is purely to oversee the colony and make sure her diamonds are staying in check.

Definitely agree with Yellow being military, Blue being culture makes sense given the design of the buildings, as does Pink being in charge of the Kindergartens, but I think you might be a little off with exactly where those domains stop - General terraforming and resource use I think is more Pink Diamond's domain, while the cultural side of colonization being blue diamond's domain rather than resource use.
White being the Diamond of Diamonds, with the other three being deputies of that (As several empires had in real world history - The other three diamonds being White Diamond's court, to put it in medieval monarchy terms), does make a lot of sense.

Gem Theory, what if Blue Pink and/or White dimond is holding the cluster stable to make sure it hatches on time, like a type of defense or better yet, was accidentally thrown into the cluster with the other fallen gems on accident and she and maybe even other gems homeworld and crystal gems will be saved????

Are you familiar with the Roman Tetrarchy? The system of four emperors ruling the single Roman empire after the crisis of the third century fractured and nearly destroyed it. The strongest connection would be an image of unity and cooperation projected to the public, but behind the scenes there's a delineated power structure and specific spheres of control.
The Tetrarchy was a system of 2 Augusti each with a Caesar to act as their jr partner, so it might also explain why we only see blue and pink on earth at first. BD would be doing the very public work of building temples and arenas and all that while while PD, the jr partner, does the dirty work of building the kindergarten.

Di you have any theories on how the gems reproduced BEFORE kindergartens? I mean, at some point gems had to have been primative. At some point they must have been minding their own business on homeworld, before they gained the technology to leave it.
My own idea is that before they could made kindergartens, to make new gems they would 'seed' a gem by chipping a fragment off of an existing gem's stone as carefully as possible, with a healer like Rose Quartz present, then manually bury that fragment deep in the ground to grow.It would be slow and dangerous, but given a gem's lifespan is not limited by mere time, I think it would have been sustainable, at least until they started fighting and gems were broken quicker than they could be grown.
This is a very well thought out and researched idea. I can certainly see a society working just like this.

The original symbol represents portions of the body and are metaphors for each diamond. The pink diamond represents the womb of the empire, and the making of new gems. (I'm certain Rose's placement of her gem is not meaningless and the fact that Rose made a womb to have Steven) The two diamonds to the left and to the right represent the hands of the empire, a hand for building and a hand for destruction and fighting, the top diamond represents the brain and mind of the empire.
i also think they represent gem placement white diamond on the top her gems on her head yellow and blue diamond in the middle both have there gems on there head and pink diamond on the bottom theorized to have her gem on her stomach

Celestine Buendia Nah man, think about it. Why wouldn't they want /other/ gems to fuse? Because it makes them stronger and could allow them to rise up and rebel against the diamond authority. Who cares if /they/ fuse? If they speak out against it, they'll probably get harvested or something.

It would be cool, but despite it being against their beliefs or not, it would be almost impossible. Look at Malachite, she's the fusion of just a quartz and Lapis Lazuli, look how huge she is, and yet she is still not as big as a Diamond! Imagine the size of 4 diamonds fused! It would be the size of an entire planet!
+thepicheese It's not only the different types of gem, the only acceptable fusion in homeworld is between warrior gems that are *made* to be fused while fighting.

Can you elaborate on the gems in Blue Diamond's court? I think I saw lapis and other Jasper/Amethyst guards. and if you notice, the gems in her court have a mixture of blue or pink gems. Which may suggest that after a possible fall of Pink Diamond, the members that were still loyal to Homeworld dispersed between the remaining 3 diamonds. plz do this one I love your videos and Ik you could do this topic some justice. This is exactly what I thought.
What's interesting is when you had made this you only briefly mentioned that they might be leaders of territory, which where I am at I believe that is primarily what they are, each leaders of different territories and pink as we know now so spoilers, had only earth. But you separated them into roles, offices primarily and the territory took a back seat. Fascinating, and I believe your evidence stands fairly well, I'd really like to see post-season 3 a lot of updated thoughts though. A lot of your older videos are still relevant if only slightly ignorant (to no fault of your own) because further episodes would come out and that's going to stand that way time and time again while the show is still being produced, I could do no better. Nicely done AJ Universe. I never thought of the roles/offices before.
That's just it does Earth have non sentient gemstones, in which case, you could pose an elaborate hoax with poof and then crush a pink diamond for show, and tell no one and that rose and pink diamond were the only ones who knew because pink diamond felt it was the only way to give a chance to the rebellion, and so now she hides on earth, somewhere. There are theory videos about it on Cartoon Universe and elsewhere, but barring an elaborate hoax, I think you are right we can confirm it, unless it is revealed later, it would be a nice redemption for rose who is turning ever so darker in the minds of steven (and by extension the audience as he is the P.O.V. character.) She is out of the picture.

I personally think that White Diamond is also the over overseer of knowledge. With a placement of her gen on her head, I find it kind of symbolic. Not to mention the other gems we've seen with the gem on their heads seem to be smart/knowledgeable (Jasper excluded, on her nose it makes me think of a bull. Literally charging into fights doesn't help change this image). Pearl and Peridot are both strong thinkers and have behaviors associated with those of intellectual people (OCD, not taking a break to explain what they believe is common knowledge, easily excitable when presented with what they're passionate, learning new things easily etc.). Perhaps this great knowledge is what separates White Diamond from all else, an almost God-like knowledge of many, if not seemingly all, things.

If what your saying is true then White diamond would be the Queen (absolute ruler) of not only homewrold but all gemkind. The Diamonds are also more than likely sister ie formed at the same time
I don't agree with you on the military thing needed since the start of the rebellion. It's more probable that the gems have enemies in space ie some kind of all male metal based species that rival's their power.
And it is more likely that Rose either Killed pink diamond and that's why Yellow Diamond was so insistent on earth being destroyed (she wants what the traitor who killed pink diamond to have failed to protect that world) that's why blue diamond ran from merely two gems in a rebellion. They're scared that they can be killed.
Or White Diamond killed Pink diamond (who shared Rose's views/inspired hers) and her mighty influence of the hatred of what Pink diamond cared for is so great that even Blue and Yellow diamond are scared to act against her wishes lest that she might strike them down.
The first is more probable as Yellow diamond recoiled when she saw that Peridot was on earth. That hesitance could signify that she was remembering the death of Pink diamond.
I think you're absolutely right on every point, Let it be Indisputable that White diamond is the leader of homeworld and by extension the other two diamonds, Each point you made fits perfectly with each gem, Theres just so much information thats still hidden from us in the show, One thing that you pointed out that i never noticed is color, How you can tell which diamond oversaw or constructed certain shrines and buildings etc.

I think that Rose is pink diamond. Another name for a pink diamond is a rose diamond, and it would make sense for pearl to be her personal pearl like yellow diamond has her yellow pearl. It makes sense that we haven't seen what pink diamond yet because it would ruin the story. It would also explain how powerful she is (and steven is) and how she could start a revolution with so little warriors against homeworld. Therefore I think its pretty obvious that Steven/Rose is going to save the day with the additional power.

+ObsessiveDCdisorder I disagree with this and to be frank, this popular "theory" annoys me more than it should. If she was Pink Diamond then she would be called that or just "Rose". It wouldn't make sense for her to lie about type of gem she is. Peridot would also notice that the gem on Steven's stomach is a diamond. If she was a Diamond she would have went after Blue Diamond a lot sooner. There is also there is also an issue with the size. It's already been establish that gems do have a set side and shape. They are cannot deviate from that for very long. Diamonds are huge. There is no way Pink Diamond would have been able to make herself as small as rose for very long. Not to mention there would be no reason to, she would be able to take out her enemies quicker if she was her normal size.
Also, if Pearl was Pink Diamond's pear then she would be all pink.
Odds are that she is just a powerful Pink Quartz who was close to Pink Diamond. Or who knows, Rose Quartz could be a gem and that's why she's so powerful.

i sometimes feel that the physical appearances of the diamonds could be an indicator for roles. blue diamond is very delicate and thin fitting for someone who would need to be one to be able to interact with certain groups much easier. yellow diamond more imposing form would make her fit for combative situations. white and pink diamond i cant really say since we've barely outside of artistic depictions.

My ideas about what happened to the Diamonds though:
-White Diamond is the gem from strawberry fields temple
-Blue Diamond has something to do with/is the gem found in the light house
-Pink Diamond either is Rose or is already in a bubble at the temple
-Which means that after the war, Yellow Diamond was able to take control of everything
Blue and White are kept on the insignia out of respect, and knowledge that if she were to remove them, it could cause unrest among the recently warring empire.

I've always thought it was interesting that whenever Peridot is explaining the diamonds to Steven, she refers to all of them as "objectively flawless beings" without any exception. When the gems are all on the moon base, she gets excited to see the pictures of all four diamonds on the walls (with the most excitement for yellow diamond, obviously) without mentioning the war or anything. I've always felt like Peridot and other loyal homeworld gems would look to pink diamond with scorn.
I also noticed that in the episode FRIEND SHIP that all of the panels, controls, and weapons peridot used to trap the gems were pink. This supports your theory of pink diamond coming first to establish a kindergarten. Love this theory BTW!

We know that something happened to Pink Diamond, and it's clear that Rose is not Pink Diamond she is a quartz. Rose is the same size as jasper (who is a quartz), and it is unlikely that Pink Diamond/Hypothetical Rose was "cut down" to the size she is now. Rose was probably a follower of Pink Diamond, and my theory is that Rose killed Pink Diamond, either to start the rebellion or as an act of defiance to the ways of home world. I have absolutely no evidence to support this other than:
1) Rose was the leader of the rebellion
2) Pink Diamond isn't on the picture anymore
3) Rose is a quartz and as far as we know it is impossible to "change class" or the type of gem you have, so she can't be Pink Diamond

I found it interesting that the old symbol of the diamonds had a striking similarity to the chemical hazard label put on containers to note the dangers of the stored contents such as if it's flammable or corrosive. In face the only real differences between a blank label and the symbol are that the colors are lighter and it's been turned 180 degrees placing the White Diamond shape at the top.

I feel like the quartz gems might be color-coded to the diamond that they belong to, or the diamond they primarily serve. Rose Quartz is a pink quartz gem who most likely served Pink Diamond, and Jasper is a yellow colored quartz who serves Yellow Diamond. We saw Blue Diamond on Earth, and we saw (probably) Amethyst gems in the flashbacks of the battle on the Strawberry Battlefield. Amethyst was also "born" on the Earth kindergarden, and this is a quartz gem which is purple, or bluish. Rather than the idea that all kindergardens were overseen by Pink Diamond, I think every diamond establishes their own and grows quartz gems specifically designed by them, in their colors.
In their depictions on the walls, pink diamond has new gems rising below her, blue diamond appears to have buildings rising on a new planet, yellow diamonds looks like a flying saucer or spaceship, and white Diamond is holding the world with people saluting her, so this theory makes a lot of sense.

I wonder if Pink Diamond actually started the rebellion and the other diamonds had her taken down and either shattered or imprisoned. It would explain how the pink diamond was removed from all future homeworld icons and why many of the ruins have the pink diamond defaced in some way. It could be that Rose Quartz was actually carrying on the mission that Pink Diamond laid out for her, realizing that Earth was nothing like the worlds they conquered before and that there was much more to this planet than the ones they've colonized in the past. Maybe Pink Diamond felt some form of guilt for what they were doing and decided to end their destruction of planets that harbored life.
This wouldn't have sat well with the other three diamonds and would certainly explain why the rebellion took place.

2.) Rose shattered Pink Diamond, so she can not be Pink Diamond.
3.) No one knew about her healing abilities except for the Crystal Gems. Eyeball, a Ruby soldier, said "There were rumors Rose could heal her soldiers."
These entice us to ask the following questions.
1.) How did Rose shatter Pink Diamond?
2.) How did no one know about her power?
3.) Do all gems have hidden powers?

This may be a stretch but I always think about when powers aren't fully explored: maybe Rose has the ability to break/shatter gems as well as heal them. She could've been so devastated by her own power that it might more easily explain why she was so against Bismuth's Breaking Point.
I'm also leaning on 'yes' to all gems having hidden powers. Crystal Gem Ruby has mild pyrokinesis abilities that the Homeworld Rubies don't exhibit this ability in any of their appearances. It could be a latent ability in all Rubies but due to circumstances they haven't discovered it. The same could be said for Sapphire's cryokinesis and precognition, Peridot's ferrokinesis, and Lapis' hydrokinesis (she had full knowledge of these abilities though). The fact that we've seen gems with elemental manipulation skills would suggest that at one point they were intentional but that information has been hidden, probably to make it easier to keep them controlled/in-line in the event that another uprising occurs.
WatrDragn Very possible. In the original intro for Steven Universe it mentioned Sapphire and Ruby's elemental abilities more. Peridot would be well having a weapon and the bolts. I would assume that pearls don't need a weapon since they are ment to relay information and be dolls. I am curious if the gem names of the fusions, Garnet, Smoky Quartz, and such have actual gems on homeworld. Like a natural Garnet, probably not.
Arianna Silva I wouldn't think so. When Ruby and Sapphire first fused into Garnet she was kind of a mess. Every other type of gem has a basic template to their appearance; the yellow, blue and whatever color Earth Pearl is share features as do the Rubies. Garnet doesn't resemble anything close to "complete" fusion. And much like Smokey, Garnet wasn't like, "Oh, I'm a Garnet now." There seems to be a mentality of Homeworld where gems are either singular or fuse for a specific purpose and are only made of the same gem. It's also unclear, aside from the Kindergartens, how most gems are made. It might be too difficult create a gem like her.

Though she said it in a questioning manner, that was likely because Quartzs are tall, stocky.
Alan Chen Though i would need to rewatch it to be sure it might have something to do with quality of character. I can't be sure she saw his gem. There are alot of traits of gems of a type like how quartzes are brutal or how blue diamond's workers are all cool and calm(lapis, blue pearl and saphire) and also seem to have control over water and ice. Both lapis and sapphire show powers of 'time travelling' mentally.
I don't think names are just names. When peridot and steven go down to fight the cluster and they go through molten peridotite, peridot has a moment of something like "that's me out there" she didn't say it but you could tell. A quartz couldn't name herself a diamond... However that she disappeared from Gem society just when Rose did as well it's very hard evidence to ignore.
to even further back up your white diamond theory.. if pearl belonged to her/this sector, that would explain how she's always the go-to when it comes to answering questions about homeworld.
would also explain how she could've been initially valued/trusted by rose during the rebellion. she was the most prestigious pearl out of all the domains (even if she was "just a pearl")
i think that homeworlds insignia was based on the placement of the diamonds gems. whites diamonds gem appears on her head and both blue and yellow diamonds gems appear on their chests. making white diamond on top, yellow and blue diamond in the middle/sides, and implying pink diamonds gem was below the chest area. probably in the navel area similar to rose's gem placement, supporting a lot of rose/pink diamond theories.
but i really like the theory in this video to, it makes a lot of sense and has a lot to back it up, and is very probable to what we've seen in the show

actually the pink diamond thing makes sense, a pearls gem matches the placement of their diamonds, pearls are ordered by high ranking gems, so pink diamond could've ordered Rose and had the gem placed on her stomach, notice that white diamond is on top and has her gem on her head, blue and yellow have it on the chest, they're in the middle, and rose has it on her stomach, which would be on the bottom, so pink diamond could have her gem on her stomach, symbolizing Birth

I think you're right about pink diamond being in charge of the creation of new gems, obviously rose quartz gem has the power to communicate with other gems even when they are not around (lapiz lazuli) or if they are not capable of speech (cluster) that is a very useful ability for a caretaker to have.
AJ, I am extremely happy that you pointed out that the orbs in the mural are planets. I've seen so many others claiming that White Diamond is a fusion because of the glowing one at her abdomen, I felt that it was obviously Homeworld. On a different note, I think you're right about Pink Diamond being the overseer of the kindergartens. However I think Pink Diamond sided with Rose and was shattered by the other Diamonds. I think this because of how her symbol at the coloseam (sorry if that's spelled wrong) was shattered. Just my theory :]
going with the theory that Pink Diamond had once been over gem cultivation, it completely makes sense for Rose to have started the rebellion. She perhaps would have been surveying areas that would provide the best gem growth and would have first handedly seen all of the beauty of earth while the other gems had not.
I saw a thing on tumblr pointing out the similarity between the picture in the temple and the hands of the cluster reaching for peridot. In this case, it wouldn't be white diamond rather than a prophesy. This would make sense given that the gems didn't understand the inner workings of the temple, though it depicted the revolution.

I think you are right AJ from what we have seen already shows us the role of the lead gems but question marks still come up around pink diamond maybe she was the one who started the rebirth of gems hence Rose Quartz gem powers (the healing growing things of different species and creating from her own self conscience) and after Rose rebel against it that led to the end of pink diamond maybe shattered or bubbled hmm

Another thing is that white is a colour that tends to sybolise purity, meaning they are the most pure or the first diamond. white diamonds are also the most popular diamonds to own/use.
