I'm sad Melissa McCarthy didn't bother to act or sound anything like Sookie in the revival 'Year in the Life'. She just sounded like herself, in a tired and serious mode.
People change.. maybe Sookie changed.
I don't understand your statement tbh. Sookie as well as Melissa lived there life off camera and when they came back it propably wasn't their 1st thing on the list to act and be as they were 10 years before the revival.. I get why people think the revival has its flaws (in my opinion it only does because it happens 10 years to late and Amy couldn't write the season she wanted to when it was the time) but I feel like more "fanservice" e.g. Sookie (and frankly all the characters) being an unchanged version of themselves would have made it even more flawed and truly unbelievable. Those are humans and actors and the characters as well as the real life person behind them had a right to change and move forward away from what people wanted them to be and apply their own thoughts and methods to how they thought their character migt have changed.
