This is a bit awkward because I said at the end of my Season 2 video that I'd cover episodes for Season 2, and I am here, saying that for Season 3. Well, there's no delicate way to go about it: I will cover all three seasons, but put a priority on a few episodes of season 3 due to it's relevancy.

A Very Devil Christmas (or whatever it was called) is the best episode in this season in my opinion.
I kinda agree with you. Season 1a will always be my favourite, as I didn't know what to expect. It was cute, funny, and awesome! Just like Ed Edd n Eddy. Season 1b, at first I was mixed as Mugman's crazy moments through me off, as I saw him as the Double D of the show, but I ended up okay with it, nobody's perfect, and yeah I really didn't like "Say Cheese" either. I felt like everyone in that episode was turned into a one-dimensional gag, where there was no voice of reason. Season 1c was my least favourite, don't get me wrong, some episodes were great, and felt just like some episodes from season 1a, maybe 'cause for me, Cuphead and Mugman weren't in it as much and their dynamic is just amazing. As much as I love The Devil, there was a tad too much of him for me. The last two episodes felt like tonal whiplash for me. And I now realised thanks to you that Cuphead didn't really grow as much. Mugman honestly was the best part for me, I feel like he grows more than Cuphead even if he (Mugman) doesn't have much to grow from, just like Double D, well maybe he grew in confidence. Though that line about Cuphead would be in hell if he was dead was 1. a bit too dark, 2. a bit harsh for Mugsy to say, and 3. a bit uncalled for as Cuphead hasn't really done anything that's that evil, honestly, Eddy before Big Picture Show would fit hell a bit more than Cuphead. Great, now I wanna see Cuphead go through an Eddy arc😭 I just wanna crossover these two shows😂
@@rtishere1910 Not going to lie the Devil and Bosses steal the show and make it better then Cuphead
This is all still Season 1. Netflix falsely advertised a 2nd and 3rd season so that they dont have to pay extra to animators
It’s so hilarious to me that the main antagonist of the show who is literally the devil is somehow more likable than the main characters😂
*plays sad song on the worlds smallest violin*
They beat him down to the point of sympathy
Sometimes the villian is more likeable than
Bowser : first time?
Yeah, but in this situation specifically, i kinda think it's for the wrong reasons
It makes sense to me that Cuphead didn't go through some major character arc where he learns not to be reckless. This is technically all one season of the show. I don't think most shows have their main character go through such a big, character changing arc in just the first season. Plus, this show is a comedy above anything else. It's always going to go for the joke rather than something profound or angsty.
You want angsty?Go to ao3 they have tons of messed up stuff on there
@@keithharrissuwignjo2460 after reading some stuff on there I agree and it's not just messed up Cuphead fan fics ...
I agree. Also we can't hold high standards of what we specifically want all the time and enjoy something for what it is. The creators did great more I think alpha is blaming them to much on the fact they don't have much time season to season to tell a deeper story that is not how the show is designed. So it feels like alpha is letting his critic senses over criticise a show that is great for a show the was meant for kids.
As much as I like the Casino Cups AU, I prefer the more episodic, comedic nature of the show
@@Lucien_M CASINO CUPS YES
I love that the thing of loving characters you're meant to hate is still a thing to this day.
Yes, it is easier to do when you are older and understand that these are fictional characters, and you can separate morality from the performance of the character in the story.
I feel kinda guilty now after saying "aww, poor baby" multiple times referring to the devil while watching the show. Poor guy just kept getting bullied, and he's always been my favorite.
He's my favorite character, my guy just wanted to cause some chaos and be taken seriously for it. It's so depressing to see him angry/sad :') I hope the writers are planning something cause if they're not I just witnessed a season of the Devil getting tortured for nothing.
But he's the devil......😐😑😐😑😐😑😐

Wait, you like my episode idea?😊
The biggest villain in the whole show is by far bowl boy
I honestly appreciate henchman so much in this season, he's starting to become my new favorite character. I think its sweet that he's so supportive of Devy (yes that's the nickname I use for the devil-) and that he goes out of his way to make him happy even if it doesn't always work out in the end. I think its nice that Devy has someone to help him through his hardships and honestly their friendship is just so healthy I love it so much. ❤
I also like how the devil is so appreciating of henchmen sometimes it makes me happy
@@jenna7357 Same you can tell he cares about him even if he doesn't show it sometimes and. I think that's just because he's never really had a friend or even socializes that much with others so ig it would make sense if he had a hard time expressing effection, but hey, he hasn't tried blowing up henchman like all the other demon's so I'd say things are already looking up. 👍👍
Bro who cares about him he’s the worse character he’s trash at his job if you feel bad for him you’re pretty stupid
Yeah after the one sided defeat that the devil had against the cup
Henchman: ....head
Me: Thank you henchman
He was loyal and supportive no matter what.
In my opinion, I loved "A Very Devil Christmas," even if I felt Santa at the end cheated the Devil from his train. That's all he wanted: a toy train and Santa didn't deliver on that, but Henchman did. I didn't really care for ep 11-I felt like that ep was a bit lacking, but I think it's how the season treated the Devil and Chalice that made it feel lacking.
The ending for A Very Devil Christmas really made that episode
@Alpha Jay Show in my opinion at least, if the Devil hadn't gotten his train one way or another at the end, I would have seen that ep as the worst of season three. Look, that train is the Devil's driving force to get on Santa's nice list, and the Devil's driving force is the reason us-the viewer-can understand his reasoning for wanting to get on the nice list, and as a result, we want to see him get that choo choo train-his driving force-in the end.
@@PhantomFerret I'm on the other end. You guys are confusing a classic trope with bad writing. They are doing the Tom and Jerry trope. They are Jerry while the devil is Tom. In the end the devil is evil and all he wants to take souls. He's mad that the cups keep slipping away and can't collect their souls when he was planning to cheat them the devil was cheating everyone and these two boys and now chalice stopped him. Why are we mad? Also your mad at watching tribute I'm telling you it's Tom and Jerry. This is a kid shows (we don't need to get into that) but also they themselves are a couple of kids does alpha not get that? He talking like he wants cuphead to see someone die and grow into a rugged man. Like noooooooo!! Any who cuphead is true to his character since in real life how many people adult even don't learn lesson hmmmmm?
The end thoughhh 😭😭😭 I’m a sucker for father/son dynamics
@@PhantomFerret I think it’s more along the lines of despite being the Devil, he’s still got a little kid in his heart that just wants to have fun
To me Chalice was well handled in the 3rd season and shows that she cares about her only friends! And honestly I’m glad we have a bit more of chalice! She’s one of my favorite characters of the show
Anyway great vid man, glad you’re back and hope to see more Cuphead Show Reviews
Thank you so much!
@@TheAlphaJayShow 😁👊
Exactly he jumped the gun to much on chalice the devil tortured her and was going to kill her but she didn't sell them out that shows growth. Also she's so well made she is basically cup head and mug man put together and female. She started out a street scammer but meeting cup head and mug man made her a better person I see it as inuyasha he was complaining in a early season how their crew was growing and kagome says "so what? It just means you have more friends then before". Chalice and the boys are orphans yet they all have hearts of gold 💛 ✨️
Same here. Not to mention the devil and King Dice. Cuphead and Mugman, uh try again
In all honesty, I liked the ending of Season 3's premiere. Cuphead's daring impulsiveness is still a part of him, but from what I can remember, he's shown to be less selfish and more willing to help others than in Season 2.
As for the Devil; yeah, he took a lot of L's. But he was still shown to be a threat. It's just that the cups kept managing to find ways to stay on equal ground with him. Which I thought was cool.
(But yeah, he got screwed over in the Christmas special. Henchman's the best.)
Well actually this isn't even Season 3, its still Season 1. Netflix split it into 3 seasons in order to prevent paying the animators more. Still a good show, just didn't like how Netflix treated it
@@bumblebeegamerreal Ackthually 🤓🤓🤓
If this glorious show ever gets a continuation, I'd love it if they just fully embraced the musical angle, if only so we can get more of Wayne Brady's beautiful King Dice voice

As awesome as the finale is, A Very Devil Christmas is my personal favorite episode. I love how it breathes new life into classic Christmas tropes!

THE ENDING JUST
HKJQJBSJWBDUBWUWJBJDW
I was just watching this episode with the Devil being mistaken for an injured cat just now.
All in all, The Cuphead Show has been pretty fun. Good, old-fashioned slapstick in a 1930's setting. The characters are pretty damn funny. The fan service of the games is plentiful. While it isn't quite the best slapstick toon and some episodes fumble a little, I still enjoyed myself with this series for as long as stingy Netflix execs allowed it to go on.
3 seasons is amazing for animated shows nowadays.
@@TheAlphaJayShow Not trying to be a contrarian but it was all technically one season Netflix chopped up
The Devil practically had a catchphrase in the show, which was “ _I’m_ the Devil!” Multiple times he becomes self-aware that he was out of character with what he was supposed to do, and has to constantly remind himself about it. I think he said it more times in season 3, as he gets flung down the deep end; being constantly made out as this joke of a goofball.
And that’s really how I felt about The Devil up until the last episode, where I had to remind myself he _is_ the Devil. When he forced Chalice to go through the process of death all over again by watching herself disintegrate until she was nothing but dust and bones. That _really_ reminded me just who the gang was dealing with. Quite a punch.
Felt weird feeling sorry for the villains more than the heroes seeing King Dice on the streets and The Devils embarrassment
Henchmen “you met Santa Claus ?”
The devil “yes I met that psycho”
😂🤣🤣
Something I noticed in the final is that when The Devil teleport everyone. He didn’t teleport Elder Kettle because he don’t want to put him in danger. That’s what I think
Either that, or he didn't want a reminder of the incident with him thinking the Devil was a housecat, and the old dude getting an opportunity to embarrass the big bad.
@@sargentgullible2794 why not both lol
I never said aww poor baby to how the devil was treated. I was laughing too hard to feel bad for him. Lol. I do wish theyd use king dice more often. He's such a great character on his own and wayne brady really makes it that much better.
That was something I felt too, I feel like the devil isn’t token seriously, which makes him feel weak. I like when the devil feels powerful as it establishes a good threat but if no one takes him seriously, it doesn’t feel as impactful.
Especially in the actual game even if you win him you still took him very seriously which was a very important detail of him.
I honestly love season 3, it’s by far one of my favorite season. I also love how Mr. D and Henchman are in the season, i already have some of my favorite episodes. Cupstaged, Roadkill and a very devil Christmas. I just love him in those episodes!
And I want to thank you so much for getting me into the cuphead show when you made the video of roll the dice vs imitation krabs, Roll the dice will forever be my very first introduction to the show. Again thank you so much for getting me into the show.
No problem! Im glad you are enjoying season 3!

@@TheAlphaJayShow Its still Season 1. Netflix split Season 1 into three seasons to prevent paying more to the animators.
Roadkill funny as heck
You’d think that the devil would be an intimidating villain overall, but now in season 3, he turned into an embarrassing and pathetic antagonist who couldn’t do anything right, and that one time he acted like a cat is the biggest example ever.
Exactly
He was only intimidating when he broke Chalice
What villians can't be funny to?
@@chloenieuwsma4846 There is a diference between funny/charismatic and pathetic
I will not let it leave my head that he never really had the greatest childhood and therefore holds on to childish actions (like calling his train a choo-choo, or throwing tantrums when upset). He may be the devil but there’s a kid inside him that never got to shine, but it’s still peeking through.
Yes this may be an overanalysis but regardless, he’s a sweetheart and I love him
He's like squidward. He's mean and cold but has a soft spot
Agreed!
This season is probably the best one
Ms Chalice and The Devil really shined here
Glad you enjoyed it!

Pretty amazing how quickly this season came out

@@TheAlphaJayShow 💯
And for a casual viewer such as myself, it was awesome, highlight episodes were A Very Devil Christmas, Down & Over and The Devil Vs Ms Chalice
Henchman is an underrated character
Very much so!
I think the devil arc was fine. Actually i felt sorry for Mugman having to deal with Cuphead for the whole series his brother and suppose best friend doesnt learn at all making the sa11me mistake over and over 1 second later 1literally and it goes to the point of putting mugman and his soul in danger if cuphead is impulsive and wants to be a idiot ok but not put your friends in the line in such a careless way. It became annoying. Also how cuphead is on Santa's nice list??? Mughead even says he doesnt believe cuphead is dead if he is not in hell. Calice is cuphead the not so moral character handled in a much better way.
That is a good point
What amazed me, is that Elder Kettle hasn't found out about Cupheads expired soul contract, and that Mugman was literally taken to hell. Let's hope Netflix gets a Season 4 released (which is doubtful, considering how shitty they are at doing their job.)
Season 1: Cupheads season
Season 2: Mugmans season
Season 3: Chalice’s season
My Favorite part is the Continuity between Seasons and how things get called back which incentives you to watch in order
Thats true, but there are also some episodes you can watch in a vaccuum!
Well that’s cuz it’s all season 1
im shocked your problem wasnt there's no more bosses presented in the show because thats legitimately my only problem in season 3 while every problem you presented i didnt even noticed or bothered lol.
Because I didn't play the game that much
@@TheAlphaJayShow I got in this fandom through the trailer and the fan comics
Because the devils casino arc hasnt happened yet
The funniest gag this season was when cuphead beat up that bush, and then it straight up slapped him. I didn't expect it at all 😆
Honestly that ending made me feel genuinely sorry for the Devil like no joke I almost started rooting for him
Cup head fans eating good this year 3 seasons worth of content in under a year is crazy 😂
Its great to be a Cuphead fan!
Also, thats' not even counting the DLC
Fr fr
Well that’s cuz it’s all 1 season
I love how the Devil goes from being the main antagonist in Season 1 and 2 to basically becoming the cranky neighbor who isn’t even all that bad in Season 3. Like he spends so much time in this season just vibing with Cuphead and Mugman 💀💀
For me, the only default of this season was they ridiculed the devil way too much, it feels unbalanced for the character. I mean, one time he's a scarring threat looming over miss Chalice, the other time he's a frinckin cat !!! I mean, you have to decide yourself! Do you want to make this character an intimidating menace or ridiculous beyond reparation??
All I hope for is that thay continue the show
We need more!!
We do need more
Well, it's a bit funny because. I really did wish there was more devil in season 2.
The Devil was just always the favorite part of the show for me, and I wanted more of him.
But perhaps using him sparingly in the first two seasons IS what you need. If you use him more, you have to make him loose more. Cause he can never win.
And it feels like maybe, the writers felt like I did. Devil was their favorite part, so by the end they wrote him in more. But then out of necessity he had to loose all the time cause he's the antagonist and we run into that problem.
That of course begs the question... What's more important to me? More Devil so I just have more of him. Or less Devil so his fewer appearances can be more effective.
I have to admit, I just enjoy the devils antics so much that I can't dislike the more screen time, even if it come at a cost. I just find him more entertaining than Cuphead himself.
Also Stickler honestly made me laugh out loud several times this final season... "Excuse me!" and I just go. "Pfff."
So yeah.... I just enjoy the devil more than Cuphead himself.
I agree with you. In the game, the Devil is a mere existence of true evil that you need to defeat to save the world. So beating the Devil is totaly a joyable moment for the players. The Cuphead Show Devil is really fun to watch, I admit it, but the more you see him the more you realize he is being treated like a punching bag for comical moments. He constantly got foiled by the cup brothers, his henchmen failed to finish his job, he is always held back by Stickler's rules of Hell, and it really baffles me when he start doing good deeds, even giving up his desired toy for Cuphead! (The Devil can do good? COME ON!) He's still a threat in the show, but how can you take him seriously as an enemy that needs to be eliminated for good?
Do you want an example of how to handle that character well? Bill Cypher from Gravity Falls.
Bill is the main antagonist of the show. He's a demon, he's evil, he's powerful, he's flamboyant, he also has style and a sense of humor. Although we love to see him on screen, there is always an unsettling feeling we get from this character. We know how dangerous and intimidating he can be, and are aware nothing good will happen when making deals with him. Because Bill made such a strong impression, you'd be surprised he didn't have much screentime in the entire show. When seeing Bill got defeated in the finale, it was really satisfying, you feel how relieved the protagonists are, you're happy to see everything is back in order, and even though you kinda feel empty seeing Bill gone you're still glad how the story ends this way. How should we feel about the Devil? Well, according to the game he didn't end up well. Should he still be destroyed even he has a chance of redemption? Ironically, the Devil can't and shouldn't be redeemed because the show would be over. So what's the point of making an episode telling us the Devil is starting to show he has good in him? I really think the show mistook the point on character development. Stop showing us what a lovable person the bad guy is, give us more reason why we should care about the show's heroes..
The final three episodes were the best in the entire series for me, but yes not taking the devil seriously especially with him having the most screen time this season and Cuphead being a static character is where the problems lie for me. The final episode of the season felt like a series finale, which would have be pretty good, if they didn't setup the Casino in the last 30 seconds.
Cuphead = Spongebob + Gumball
Mugman = Early episodes Darwin
Devil = Squidward
One of the best things this season is that King Dice appeared in two episodes. Even though he only had a small role in the season finale
why is the devil getting it from behind in the thumbnail

My favorite episode in cup head season 3 is “A Very Devil Christmas.” Because I can see the Devil softer side of himself that he wanted the choo-choo for Christmas. To earn it he has to do something he never done for millennia. But in the end Santa pretty much cheated out of him. On the long run, the Devil got his choo-choo all thanks to his lovable henchman.
The friendship between Devil and Henchman was what made season 3 my favorite
So, to summarize the seasons we got so far:
Season 1 is where Cuphead and Mugman go on adventures and get to know people, while Cuphead is in debt with the Devil.
Season 2 is when jail changes Cuphead and Mugman, for worse I'd say. Cuphead being so negative/inconsiderate and Mugman turning psychotic.
Season 3 is basically the suffering of the Devil, while he continues to entertain. He struggles in episodes 1, 3, 4, 6, 8, and 11. And we get to see more Stickler this season, which explains it.
6:11 That will be a moment, even non-cannon, everyone will remember, will grieve, and *CRY*. RIP Charles. And the Henry Stickmen series is still cool.
While yes the devil is the antagonist, my man is doing his jobs but yet his victims somehow gets out of the debt…which makes me feel sad for the devil for keeping on failing in his job
Mug man unironically knows what’s best for the show.
Season 3 was GREAT! It showed us more on Ms. Chalice's backstory, we saw more of Sally Stageplay as a character, The Devil appeared in more episodes this season than the other 2, and we saw King Dice make a comeback, who appeared in 2 episodes this season instead of just 1.
Speaking of which, Netflix released a music video of the "Roll the Dice" song from the episode "Down & Out". And I gotta admit: Wayne Brady is a really good singer (as also proved by the number of episodes from Sofia the First that featured Wayne's character (Clover the Rabbit) singing).

I feel like the biggest problem about the devil is that he seems like a character who desperately needs a redemption ark but uh
He can't

I'd pay for a Henchman
Season 1- A great start, with only 2 bad episodes ("Handle with Care" and "In the charm's way")
Season 2- The best season, with new episodes with other bosses and a great cliffhanger, only bad episode being "Piano Lesson"

You know they say people who don't like musicals have no joy in their soul.
Viewing these episodes as one season does help it be more digestible imo
Because he doesn't really get what he wants the most.
CupHead's Soul, for example.
The Devil (Cuphead) is someone I'm sympathetic with
Ngl ,when the henchman and the devil were going to the elevator after he lost to cuphead, the way they talked was really funny and cute by the devil side
Eh, he kinda does it to himself most of the time. For example; In Roadkill it was his own policies that forced him to go get a soul, and he chooses to pretend to be a cat instead of doing the logical thing and just taking Elder Kettle hostage.
theory: maybe if there will be a season 4 the devil will be back for revenge. maybe these episodes were supposed to be a backstory for him. other wise, I'm hyped for season 4 if it ends up happenin'!
I really love that Santa was modeled after the Silly Symphonies Santa Claus for us all to enjoy! Really respect that attention to detail! ❤
A little irrelevant but my favorite joke in the show so far is Mugman knowing that Cuphead would not be dead and in heaven when the Devil was lying to him
The Devil just wants to win but hes always beaten by his hubris or cups.

The last episode imo was the best one - the one prior being my 2nd. You don’t see those kinds of battles like that with insane music (these people know how to create music!) often in animations like this one. It was nice to see. To see how cute and wholesome the trio of cups can be was nice to see
My only downfall is how the tables turned from Ms chalice winning with the devil in desperate need of a comeback - even though he was CLEARLY not getting one - to a casual slip-up to her slipping g on marbles. Cuphead saving her life in “Cuphead style”, if you will, saved it
A Very Devil Christmas is my favorite Cuphead Show episode tbh.
I enjoyed them all but season 2 has to be my favourite so far. I hope we'll get more Cuphead episodes regardless though ❤💙.
Season 2 has one of my fav episodes, A High Seas Adventure
I love how he's legit the devil and is super good mixed with evil
Ms chalice’s origins actually shocked me
I thought at first she was half ghost because of one her parents
I'm sad its over but it was a fantastic series! I hope it gets more but if it doesn't, I'm sure happy it went out with a bang! Love this show and franchise! ❤
Season three finale feels like a prologue to the game...
You know, Devil's Casino...

6:11 please don’t mention that ending from completing the mission, I don’t want to cry.
It's because of Sticker's Rules.
i never knew there was a cuphead cartoon
Well its never too late to go see!
I thought season 3 was really good, and I'd like to point out a huge problem I noticed with the devil is the fact he's about as reckless as Cuphead and doesn't exactly learn either. His main problem is the fact he likes making deals too much, which backfires on him, best example is the final episode of Season 3. So yeah I feel like the devil is about as reckless as Cuphead in a way and there's a reason he loses so much, he doesn't learn really either
"walking around crying for hours and hours like a lost episode creepy pasta." suicide mouse reference?
I honestly love see the Devil lose so much. Purely because he's such a drama queen, and it's so funny to see his reactions to losing over and over
The further the show goes on...the more i feel bad for the Devil somehow
Why do I always binge watch good shows In two day’s 😂
Hopefully the series will be about how Cuphead’s obsession with danger gradually slows down as each episode goes on to the point where he’s tired of it and wants to resort to a normal life as opposed to just stopping completely at the end. At least with that we can still have all the bosses be prevalent in the show. Either that or the plot could just point out he has an addiction to danger and he’s trying his very best to quit after like a couple of seasons, recovering from any form of addiction such as gambling, drugs, or even just the most random things isn’t a linear path in general anyway.
Yeah, I really thought they were setting up a humbling of Cuphead in that second season. It seemed almost obvious that it was going to go that way, and then it just....didn't. Cuphead still hasn't learned a damn thing, and, as much as I'm happy to see The Devil's Casino, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed. The season premiere should've been a lot more heartfelt imo.
THANK YOU-
He may be the devil, but he deserves all the love ❤️
The end of his Christmas episode had me in literal tears it was so cute
The father/son dynamic with henchman and devil is just the best
If they ever start another season that would be cool if they start it off like they game but instead of them fighting the “villains” they compromise with them or trick them into getting their soul contracts
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
It would interesting if the Devil in S3 E1 used how Cuphead treated Mugman and how irresponsible he was, especially in S2 and use it against him. The Devil could manipulate Mugman into working with him by telling Mugman he will treat him better. Mugman can also look like how he did in the original game when you get the bad ending.
I would love to see that episode where the devil 😈 were Santa Claus 🎅 for a day.
I definitely want to cover that later next month for sure
Personally, I like the way they did the devil and Cuphead.
The devil doesn't look threatening anymore, I get that, but he becomes more, weirdly, human and funny. It makes me like seeing more episodes of him and it fits because the show is a comedy (even tho you can make it serious time to time).
And Cuphead, man, I know that people doesn't like him because he doesn't learn his lesson, but that is what I don't want to happen. Listen, I really like characters with his kinda personality, especially kids. I like how they are just doing things because it's fun and it has a lot risks and I get irritated when characters like mugman, tell them that to stop before they get hurt. It's a good dynamic between to characters because it makes feel something. I want Cuphead to get into trouble and mugman having his jaw on the floor. It's fun, satisfying, and makes me yell out," YES, IN YOUR FACE MUGMAN!". Also, it's like Cuphead says,"my not worrying it's the only reason that we have any fun around."
Anyway, this is my opinion and I am sorry if I hurt anyone with this.
I don't feel bad for the devil solely due to the fact that he kept calling the trident a pitchfork.
0:57 there are AMONG US CHARACTERS IN HIS EYES
Stickler “BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH”. The devil” STIKLER STOP BEING BORING!”
The devil is like a perfect mix of Tom from Tom and Jerry and Squidward
When I first watch the season 3 episodes… I feel really sorry for devil, the episodes with him in them it really makes me feel really really sorry for him. And he is my favorite cuphead show character I mean really he really is.
