    About:
    Jason and Lorraine. In 2016 we sold most of our belongings and left the city in southern California to start a small homestead in the mountains of North Carolina. We left the city in search for a more minimal and intentional life. We became passionate about growing our own food and knowing what exactly is in our food after I (Jason) became diagnosed with cancer. Now 8 years in remission we as a family are on a journey to live our passions.
    We document our life on RUclips videos to inspire others to get out of their comfort zone and not be afraid of change. We started our own online general store where we have available the things we make and use in real life. Thank you for following us on this incredible life changing journey!

    It might be a good ideal to use the upper latch to connect the door halves. Great build, love watching y’all in your journey. God’s Blessings 😁

      I was thinking the same thing; How often does one leave the bottom open and the top closed? Normally use will leave you with a single latch to get in and out.

    I made the door for my greenhouse and it has come in so handy for so many reasons. Even just opening the top for air circulation and keeping kids and pets out with poisons or snail pellets around. Thanks!

    Dutch doors usually have a latch attaching the two halves so it can open as one. It might make life a bit easier for the Rhodes if they have that latch option.

  • @tomgourley305
    @tomgourley305 5 лет назад +2

    You should have one of the latches on the inside to keep someone from being latched inside of the greenhouse. Have a door to door connector latch on the inside and the upper door latch on the inside as well. Remove the outer upper latch. Replace it with a simple handle to pull the door open. Have restraining hooks (keepers) for upper and lower doors mounted on greenhouse wall.

  • @23willrocks
    @23willrocks 5 лет назад

    Nice one Jason, Just a suggestion, if you keep the hinges the way they are and latch the upper portion to the bottom portion from the inside, and then use a traditional door latch, the door acts as one from both the inside and out, but you can open the top as needed from the inside. Good work!

  • @debean5670
    @debean5670 5 лет назад +1

    You did a fine job, there. My only concern would be that the bottom piece of the door frame might be a tripping hazard unless you build up in front and behind it. Also, if people step on it, it may loosen or cause the rest of the frame to pull out of square. It might be a good idea to reinforce it underneath with some pressure treated wood, and then build up the gravel until it's level around it.

  • @thisismeumbass
    @thisismeumbass 5 лет назад

    Just an fyi, put a latch so when you open the door so they can both open together. Also, the top door needs to stop half way open. Don't put a latch on the green house, it may interfere with the vents. Have a stop on it, halfway.

    Chickens have no problem going through the top of a dutch door if it's open, so don't count on the bottom door keeping chickens out of the greenhouse.
