I'm very impressed with the timing of the C4 stacking by using other detonated devices. That was a very cool! And personally my methods to destroy these hearts remain bloater gas grenades and heavy weapons with Powerhouse skill. Albeit sometimes I mix shotguns with incendiaries and to finish a C4 charge.
Once you start using Smoke grenades, nothing can beat that
100+ days in lethal and still got my mind blown by your clips

Thanks for the video! You make it look so simple. On lethal I feel like I'm always treading water and starved for resources. On the rare occasions where I feel like I can take a risk to try a new strategy something goes horribly wrong. Keeps things interesting I guess lol
This is a excellent video, I've already beaten the four boons on lethal and have no desire to return but I love watching videos like this to help those that are having problems,too much B.S in lethal,love nightmare and dreadzone
This game is relatively small, so RUclips content creators are uncommon. You though, make literally 10/10 content on this game. Even games like call of duty, which are huge huge games don't have content creators with as much passion and creativity with their content as you do with this game. It's surprising this small game has some one like you in the community.

Great video; you've definitely put a lot of time into playing the game. I usually just use the scent block and toss 3-4 grenades or pipe bombs at the plague hearts. If that doesn't do it, a few shot gun blasts finish it off.

Hey thanks for showing that part where you use a road flare through it down in front of the plague heart and then used bloated gas cloud grenades that's pretty awesome and I never thought of that, because I thought that the plague hearts would be immune to blotter gass
The GOD of SoD 2 made another great video! I've never seen anyone use smoke grenades that way so I'm really giving it a try!
I also wanna add a "hack" or a "bug" that even Git Gud Fox exploits. Its "Fire Zombies".
As we know, Zombies on fire spread fire to their fellow zombies and "damage" them. What I didn't expect is that even Plague Hearts can be damaged with it as well. I tried it many times and IT WORKS saving 1 C4 charge or Bloater Cloud Grenades. I always bring me a Pyrolauncher to clear the zeds easily once I popped a C4 or a cloud grenade and zombies will just swarm at the heart. Set them on fire and poof! IT WILL DIE!
I always use Scentblock for protection. And I think, its just cost efficient, safe and reliable to use C4 and Bloater Cloud Grenades.
P.S.
Hopefully, the devs won't rework all your the tricks and bug exploits vids coz I'm blaming you if they nerf them all and buff the zombies more! LOL :P :P :P :P
All the tricks here are very reliable and will work 100% of the time.
The zombie fire damage is not reliable. Besides, a new player will probably get themselves killed when they try that. Also the fire damage trick originated from "SauceOme Gaming".
I wouldn't try to save a C4 or a bloater cloud grenade because they are already cheap to make. C4 will be utilised best when they are stacked using V2 stacking trick!!

Well done, RvidD. Your video is really a wonderful addition even to the veterans of the games. There are still many of us who managed to finish lethal but still do not know about all these. I do want to add a bit to your info, perhaps you might already know about them.
1. For the plague heart in the centre of a warehouse, based on my playthroughs, a drone strike can still hit it, but it is very hard to pull off. I think over 10+ playthroughs, I think I managed to destroy a few warehouse hearts through a bit of luck when placing a drone strike. Definitely NOT recommended but still could be done.
2. For Airstrike, there is one more location's plague heart that could be used on. That would be the Military Medical Tent. While most of the time, it will fail to hit the heart, if placed correctly from the outside of the tent (need some testing and remember where to place it), the blast might hit the fence of the tent and destroy the heart. I usually destroy those hearts with airstrikes.
3. While most drone strikes have to be placed outside a building. Some shops/ gas stations with climable roof is a good location to drop a drone strike. You can just climb up the roof and call upon a drone strike from above the roof (dropping the smoke marker on the roof itself, above the hearts). This is also a good way to kill any hostiles that hide inside a shop/ gas station too.
1. One of the plague hearts I destroyed with drone strike is actually the warehouse with center heart!!! But it is not reliable.. so I advised not to do that
2. Also artillery strike can be used on the unfinished house hearts that have roof but no windows.. So medical tent and the unfinished house hearts can be killed but are unreliable.. definitely not recommended.
3. I have not tried that. Will try!!

You will have bloater cloud or smoke grenade advantage when you play in Trumbull or Meagher!!
C4 will be the next easiest thing! Make sure to follow C4 stacking trick V2 if you use C4 charges!

I really hope you have some fun getting all this info together. You make this game seem easy and surely make life easier for the rest of us with all this work. I just hope its not too much of a grind, and you have a little fun testing things out. Solid info with amazing presentation.
For me, narrating is the toughest and draining part. Since English is not my first language, I trip over a lot when speaking. So each line has to be recorded atleast 10 times to get a clear understandable line. For this guide, I recorded 4 hours/day for 4 days!!
That's why, for my 46 tips&tricks video, I asked my friend to narrate because it is the longest of my videos!

This explains a lot. I was double stacking C4 on plague hearts and when I mentioned this on Reddit people tried to make it sound like that was impossible. Sounds like my love of making things go boom even during non PH hunts was the work around. Great video man!

@@StateofDecayScience On Dread. Someone advised me I was wasting C4 and it only takes one on Dread, but I tested on 5 different PHs. The first 2 I only used one charge each, didn't kill them. The other 3 I did 2 charges simultaneously, killed them instantly. Snuck in, no guns, no melee damage. Placed my 2 charges a few feet apart in front of the heart, snuck out and denotated. PH's to my knowledge were at full health.
The game considers plague hearts as zombies.
So this trick will work when a plague heart gets damage from explosive/incendiary.

With that being said, you are by far my favorite State of Decay RUclipsr when it comes things like this. I'm sure you must put in a lot of time and effort into making these kinds of videos, and for that, thank you for everything you do for the community. Also, what are the best stanima boosters, are the Stimulants better than Energy Drinks and Espresso Shots?
Best stamina consumables are Stimulants (90 seconds). But the ones easily available will be the energy drinks (30 seconds) since you can craft them.

I'm starting my very first Nightmare Zone playthrough soon so, I've been watching some of your videos in regards to the Nightmare difficulty the last few hours now lol! If you don't mind me asking, is it best to start a brand new community for Nightmare or should I continue with an existing community where I already have everyone's already skills maxed out and hero bonuses unlocked?
@@rcyoung86 Move your existing community to NZ and learn the changes. After you get familiar with NZ, start a new community with fresh characters.
Even after learning everything about NZ, fresh starts for the first time will be difficult.
A cool thing I learned about the heavy weapon is in certain spots you can hit the heart and any zombies that are attacking you in the same swing so you don’t have to run back and forth so much
Nice video! You can cheese and first heart in Trumbull valley near starting base with Impaler. Spikes are giving extra space around car and zombie can't go in that mini store.

No matter how many play throughs I have watched I was always messing up and eventually getting someone killed trying to do what others were doing but after watching your video I just managed to kill a plague heart without real issues, and I am sure I can prefect it now thanks to you!
I have some idea how this video can be helpful!! Because this video took 40 days to make perfecting all the details and showcasing only the reliable tricks that everyone can replicate!!
For example, the smoke grenades trick was very unreliable when I first tested it. I was thinking about not adding it. But after multiple testings, a simple change - "Throwing the smoke grenades to the side of the plague hearts" made a real difference making it very reliable.

@@StateofDecayScience Running out of the house and away from everything then going into stealth mode so I couldn't be found. Then sneaking back tossing in a firebomb of any type to kill the zombies inside then go back in and attack the heart again with a weapon. Rinse and repeat kept me from taking any damage and kill the heart fairly easily!
But I do plan on trying your method of the smoke grenades as well because yes it did not work well for me in the past and now, I see why!
@@StateofDecayScience I also found out that on fire zombies near a plague heart do damage to it they actually finished off a plague heart for me!
That is an unreliable trick. You can also kill an LZ plague heart with one firecracker + bloater cloud grenade + a nearby zombie. But it is unreliable.
@@StateofDecayScience I agree that is not always going to be the case, but I thought it was funny that it happened actually! Seeing I am always fighting and dealing with infestations I always keep mallitoffs with me and it was what I was using to clear the zombies called into the house from attacking the plague heart. And they just happened to finish it off for me.
Im sure someone already mentioned both of my 2 thoughts.
#1 cheesy plague heart kill: really large factories have space under the closest shelf to crouch next to the heart. Attack it until it gases, move behind a short box nearby but remain under the shelf. Rinse and repeat.
#2 plowed vehicles: what about the Big Boss?
Your videos are awesome. I learned alot. 3 willie petes or 2 willie petes and a grenade, or 2 c4 and a rocket pod. These are additional variations I have used.
Big boss is not invincible.

Nice and informative. If you have armed your survivors with full auto guns before going in to the first base, then you can take out all the hearts in standard zone and some of them in lethal. Raiders AK is the best follower's weapon but incredibly rare to find.
I tried that too (in LZ). Good trick but not reliable. Sometimes our followers will be stupid and decide not to use guns. That's why we should do everything on our own!!
I keep pushing around them to startle followers 😁
Awesome, I always wanted to use smoke grenades, but they never seemed to work. I was just throwing them too close to the heart.
Now I'll have to start saving them instead of selling them.
If we throw them on the hearts, it will work. But we sometimes will dodge outside when the heart releases gas. That will be the problem!!!
Kudos for smoke nade trick, 700+ hours in the game and never guessed it!
My early game cheese: climb the roof of a car parked near PH and throw nades/pipebombs/molotovs through window. Can be tricky to get good angle but 100% safe from ferals.
Later in the game, scent block lowers diff from lethal to easy.
For me, climbing cars, scentblock and pyrolauncher always feel like a cheese.
But no matter how powerful smoke grenades are, they don't feel like a cheese!!

Nightmare mode, I’m not researching much but I throw on scent block, and carry 8 soda can bombs and a couple molotovs. The cans are quick to toss and I can usually drive away without dying. Usually.

I do have one or two questions about a key piece of info.
How long do the Smoke Grenade clouds last, and are they different depending on difficulty. I ask about how long, because some people can keep that time limit in the back of their minds before deploying more smoke to keep the cloud up..
They last 25 seconds in all the diffs (I added this info as text in the video itself. I added that in contrast color hoping people will notice. But still hard to notice lol. Will try with bigger texts next time).
25 seconds are more than enough time to drop each phase and safely hide inside until the smoke clears. Also check the unedited video from the pinned comment. I used smoke grenades in 2 different locations.

Late to the party on this video. I never knew that smoke grenades were that effective. I have been experimenting with a lot of different types of explosives and incendiaries, like pursuit mines and Reign of Fire, but I never even considered using smoke grenades like that. Very nice.
Cylinder shaped building: Quonset hut. And interesting bit of (military) construction history. Something was exposed to early. Genuinely interesting to hear what someone would call it approaching from atomist view.

@@StateofDecayScience Ah sorry for the confusion, the chart in question is the one that is named "Summary of Strategies" it's the chart that lays out what's safest, efficient etc. It's the first chart that pops up towards the end. The rest of the charts I can see are in the Discord and are just wondering if you're planning on adding it in the channel as I leave the channel open on another monitor when I play.
I didn't add that since that has no context without the video. Anyone seeing that will be like, "woah, what is this??!!"

With the c4 stacking can you make 20 c4 charges go around the map and place one on each plaugeheart and then make the trip a second time and then blow all 20 and clear all 10 hearts at once on nightmare or below difficulty? So c4 1 and 11 would go on the first heart and c4 2 and 12 would go on the second and so forth wich would space out the explosions timewise.
A C4 charge can only be detonated within ~90 meters.
So THAT'S why I threw 10 pipe bombs at one and it did NOTHING. Lost my best character, too. Damnit.

Biochem station can be acquired from a special trader (Echo Trader) or from "Plague Researcher" mission. There are no ways to trigger the mission and the trader. It is just RNG.
Alternatively, if you are in Trumbull Valley, the landmark outpost can craft all these.
i had a feeling explosives didn’t stack on plague hearts for some reason. it always confused me when i’d put down 4+ c4 charges and my character would comment that “it’s almost down” when a half of a magazine from any assault rifle is a death sentence to hearts.
Yep, they're inmune to stackable damage. Plague hearts only need 3 consecutive C4s in lethal zone to be destroyed
I want to see the most elaborate plague heart guide utilizing.. well everything! Box bombs, molotov, pyro gun, different caliber guns... 😃

Ways to destroy a Lethal Zone plague heart:
1. (04:09) 1xC4 + 4xBoombox + 1xC4 + 4xBoombox + 1xC4
2. (05:49) 1xCLEO Deployable Pyro Minefield + regular Minefield (placed between a wall and a heart)
3. (07:40) Artillery Strike for outside hearts
4. (08:10) Drone Strike deals 83% damage (plus finish with 1 planted C4). Available with Programming Skill and lvl3 Command Center.
5. (10:28) Standing on top of the car, shooting through the window
6. (11:00) Smoke Grenade + heavy melee weapons
7. (12:55) cheesy Plague Hearts that can be safely destroyed
8. (14:44) 3xBloater Gas Grenade + 1xRoad Flare
9. (14:58) Powerhouse skill + heavy weapon = 9 hits

I think it has changed since this video with the explosive damage now stacking for multiple explosives at once. Yesterday I accidentally threw two C4s instead of one at a Dread Zone Heart and it blew it up. And the next heart I threw one, blew it up then threw the second and the second C4 killed the plague heart, so the damage must stack now

A lot of these videos are single player oriented, multiplayer could be a source of new content, or at least a video or two. Obviously you'd need to find people to coordinate with, but I'd love to see a co-op version of this. Or just co-op strategies in general.
Update for black heart, have the weakness figured out, run in the building, do some damage, then get on something that you can regain stamina on, then repeat.
Boombox outside playing state of decay fire beats. 6 or 7 fire works set up right next to plauge heart is the best way;)

1:02 road flairs are not very plentiful for me do you have a guied for the efficiency of the other ignition like what the 2nd third....
Use firecrackers. But firecracker should never touch the heart.
So throw it slightly side to the hearts and it will have the same efficiency as roadflares.
Woah. I did not connect the zombie bombing and the c4 stack. Always wodered why it was inconsistent.

I did multiple tests and found that, it is happening because of a glitch which will be patched soon. That's why I included a clip of that in the beginning but didn't add that as a trick!
Also all the tricks from this video are very reliable. All the tricks can be executed all the time. The plague bloater trick or the fire zombie damage trick are extremely unreliable and dangerous for a new player

I like to use smoke granades but zombies still atack me sometimes, any idea why ?
The graphics will turn orange even when only the camera is inside the smoke cloud. So you should be careful about that.

easiest: adv brake on the homemade masterwork 5.56 100 rnds, uses 75 rnds to kill on lethal. Makes Plague heart irrelevant. The other ways are just clowning around as Mr Gacey pointed out.
Masterwork AR needs 67 rounds with Adv brake. But the fastest gun is M4X2 lite SSW.
The easiest is always bloater cloud grenades + road flare
that's is a trick about cheese heart, if a heart is next to a bed, you can just get on the bed and zombie can not climb on it
