Saw quite a few of his club gigs, met him and spoke to him a number of times, and met many other musicians at his gigs, including Kanami and Akane of Band-Maid, Takayoshi Ohmura of the Kami Band. Fujioka was a walking encyclopedia of music history and theory, could play any genre. The students in his seminars at Musicians Institute included Midori of Lovebites and Hazuki of Nemophila. Following are tributes paid to Fujioka by Akane and Kanami after his passing (translated from the Japanese): Akane - “A soul-healing super-guitarist who had a beautiful smile and treated me so kindly every time I met him, that was you, Mr. Fujioka. I want to be like you, a wonderful musician full of love. The goals and dreams that Kanami and I told you we have, I promise you we will achieve them. I am so deeply grateful to have met you, Mr. Fujioka. I pray for the happiness of your soul in the world beyond.” Kanami - "Kind-hearted, cute-smiling Mr. Fujioka, I was able to say a final good-bye to you. [Kanami, Akane, Midori and many other musicians attended a service for him.] I will never forget you. As poor a guitarist as I am, allow me to keep you in my mind and heart while I am playing. Thank you for the greatest music. I pray for the happiness of your soul in the world beyond.” (The last sentence in both tributes is a formal condolence commonly expressed at a person's passing.) I remember Saki of Nemophila, who was not a student of Fujioka but was a fan of Babymetal, wrote a short, sweet, warm, respectful condolence message directly to Fujioka's widow.
Without him, BABYMETAL's diverse and deep musical vision might not have been possible. I even think that without him, BABYMETAL would not have been successful. And what I love most of all is that he seemed to enjoy playing any song. He was a guitarist who reminded me that music can be fun.
Shhhh... shhhh.... don't mention "Starlight" just in case our friend Jason is over here. Fujioka-san was an amazing musician. A great loss. RIP Ko-Gami
ruclips.net/video/y-DHzrF0hKM/видео.html Ohmura and the other Japanese Kamis released a new full version of Hills of Wisteria in tribute to Mikio yesterday. It even has singing in it now and isn't just a full instrumental track. You really should check out since it is a pretty awesome track.

As good as all the Kami's are Mikio stood out. Miss his guitar.
