Yeah, their prices are out of control, and they use that to convince people to install their app for coupons (so they can sell your data, of course). If you just walk into a McDonalds and order food like "normal", you end up having to pay insane prices.
My wife and I took our toddler to McDonald's for the first time, and for 2 adult meals and a happy meal it was over $30! I almost walked out disgusted, but I didn't want to ruin my kid's day. The CEO is, as usual, lying through his teeth. Prices have not gone up 40%. They have nearly doubled in recent years.

Shows that they could have done these deals the whole time, but took advantage of market conditions after covid to "supercharge" profits. This is why anti price gouging legislation is crucial. The second their data sees consumers pulling back on spending, they adjust their prices to give their customers a "deal". But actually they're just taking slightly less advantage to ensure their performance matches investor expectations. Businesses will always maximize profits, which is expected. But during unprecedented global events, taking maximum advantage of your customers should leave a bad taste in anyone's mouth, no pun intended.

My local McDonald’s average is about $550,000 in net sales about nine months of the year with a decline in the winter months. If you’re franchisee doing 6 million in sales every year you’re not struggling you’re making bank. And the reality is is that most restaurant franchise own more than one franchise some own 4 to 5 franchises because if you run a franchise in one area and the opportunity to open another franchise in a nearby area becomes available that franchisee normally gets first dibs. So don’t think that a restaurant franchise owner only has one restaurant and that’s it because that most likely is very far from the truth. I just hate the gaslighting that goes on whenever somebody says oh the poor McDonald’s owner Mike, please that person is doing quite well for themselves if they own a McDonald’s. I'm stuck in an area where favoritism is rampant. So all the good jobs go to bubbys cousin.
So now I'm working at a BK just to save up and hopefully get out. That being said, it's 15 miles from home and any spare money goes toward gas. So unfortunately, the one meal a day I get is BK slop only because workers get one free meal during break. Pay is $10/hr and I'm making dozens of bags that cost just as much within an hour. These value meals are only a value if you really want it and have the change to spare. Then the good ol business mindset of "we gave you this opportunity to be here so jump when told or live under a bridge. Thanks for being a superstar!"
So yeah. Thankfully there's a gym opening up close by soon that I can unwind from corporate nonsense and keep from getting a whopper heart attack.
