Yes sir you are absolutely correct. I like the hose clamps because of a more even sizing. I asked the lady at the hotel front desk but she didnt have any hose clamps haha
did you put sticky side of tape against the seals or away from? I have to do this over the weekend. I heard about the tape method but always thought the stickiness of the tape would pull on the seals when you took the tape off if you didn't do sticky side out.
But a tub of transmission assembly lube and use that on the plastic and seals. Will make the sliding easier and less friction on the seals. About 12-15$. But tub will last FOREVER, almost .....
@@southerngearz The reason I emediately thought of heating them was because of a technique we used in the trade of Shoe repair ( my original Forte). We used it to shrink wrap plastic around hi heels as a way to protect them from getting scuffed so easily. Being this is a hi temp type of Teflon it may work. I am about to do mine this week I will let you know how it worked. Thank you sir.
@@southerngearz did they ever get to the point that the OEM did or were they still loose I’m going thru this at the moment an my seals ended up with probably a 16th inch or so more gap then what I seen on the video
@@booboowhit2 nah it was like oem. You can use the zip tie method and wrap the seal in a piece of plastic coke bottle then put the zip tie on i. Make sure you leave it on until you go to reassemble as they could loosen back up.
I heard dipping them seals in hot water helps.
Thats a good idea thanks i'll pin that so others can see thanks guy
Hose clamps or zip ties, over a plastic sheet (cup/water bottle, etc) also works as a resizer.

Painters tape is a low tack so it wont pull them out

Do you think gently heating them w a heat gun will help them seat? I like your idea though.

@@stevethomas5209 man i hope it works you may have stumbled onto a new technique if it works.
Did it work?
It helped on the smaller seals but the larger seals i used zip ties. The tape kept loosening up on the big ones.
