This is all the same relationship. General album plot is: Sundowning - Entering the relationship, the toxicity on both sides, and the relationship ending. This Place Will Become Your Tomb - All of the stages of grief over the lost relationship culminating in him seemingly repeating the grief cycle. Take Me Back to Eden - The actual recovery and learning to move on. Obviously this is a massive oversimplification, but it should give more context.
It has multiple meanings it could mean an actual relationship or the one he has with "sleep" (diety of some kind he believes he saw in his sleep which is why it's called sleep token) which makes more sense in his newer album when he talks about dreams and wanting to see what it is and such
He engaged because of what he's chanting in the back ground. "I might break and bend to my basic need to be loved and close to somebody" Desperate to not be lonely, to belong, to feel loved in someway, even if it's going to be bad and you can see it.
Worship! ..“Life is dark. Life is bright. Life is ugly. Life is beautiful. Don’t get lost in genres, they’ll only disorientate you. Music is for everyone.” -Vessel 2017
This is truly one of their best songs in the discography IMO, it’s so diverse and has great musical range and Vessel is able to showcase a lot of vocal techniques. And II gets to play on some e-pads and a kit all in the same track. I love the layers and the build up, the transition then back to the trap for the outro. Proper deep cut track ✌🏼
Bad Omens in your Skies is later referenced in another song as Diamonds in the Tress Pentagrams in the Night Sky. Not being able to see the dark signs in the distance because of the pretty things up close.
Oh sick, I hadn’t thought of the two lines together before. I do love that line though, I feel like most people don’t recognize the meaning in the first listen so it’s not usually talked about in reactions.
I get what ur saying but in this song he's literally seeing he could see the Dark signs, bad omens. I think it's more of a case that despite seeing them he was distracted more by the Diamonds in the trees. Despite seeing dark signs, he wanted to believe that there was some hope, so he went ahead anyway.
That “Build a Bear” metaphor!!! Love. This is from their first full album, and he’s evolving emotionally. We’ll probably never know with Vessel, but it’s interesting to look at how a rough childhood can set you up for bad relationships as an adult. It is so damned hard to break that cycle.
Dark Signs is so darn good. I love it. Great reaction. I'm so glad you enjoy one of my favorite bands. System of a Down is my all-time favorite, so I followed you through that journey, and it was glorious.
you've encountered a lot.. but not all of it lol. So, overall in lore the relationship is with the Deity Sleep. but realistically i think the real inspiration is 1 female.. we havent even hit the biggest heartbreakers lol.
i wonder if dark signs has anything to do with the sine waves with the bass. i don't know all about music but i know a good amount. that is not just normal bass. maybe someone could fill in the blanks here, cause im not100% sure. either way its beautiful
Fundamentally every sound is a combination of sine waves. When you hear sawtooth, pulse, etc waves those are multiple sine waves phased to make that waveform. Most synth basses tend towards purer sine waves to be clearer on the low end. In this song the bass is not just a pure sine wave but to my ears sounds closer to a filtered triangle waveform, but that's just a guess.

You should try the band Front Line Assembly, for example the song "Deadened", it's extremely energetic and complex EBM masterpiece
The love you want music video. You have to watch it!
The thing about Sleep token isn’t where they are from but rather where they will take you.
