I must confess: my favorite version of this classic, is by The Singers Unlimted, with the gorgeous Bonnie Herman on lead----------still, this version is also superb.
Cheryl Bentyne is one of the Manhattan Transfer. The original female lead was the very talented Laurel Masse. In 1978 Laurel was involved in a car accident & she was replaced by Cheryl Bentyne. The Manhattan consisted of Tim Hauser (Founder), Alan Paul, Cheryl Bentyne, & Janis Siegel. They had many hits in 1979 & into the 90's. Their album Extensions spawned the hit The Twilight Zone & Birdland. Manhattan Transfer has won multiple Grammy Awards. Thankfully Cheryl Bentyne continues to perform as a solo act. She'ssuch a "Classy" Lady & Great Vocalist.
I LIVE IN SEATTLE & MS BENTYNE IS FROM OUR AREA. I NEVER MISSED ONE OF HER APPEARANCES EVERY YEAR IN SEATTLE...WE WERE BLESSED!!
