    Having just seen a video on this by Dan Worall, I've been being trying out this function on Q2 after owning it for ages and not knowing about this. Amazing how quickly and dramatically this allows you to clear things up and get rid of mud without resorting to more dramatic eq or compression that buries one sound in favour of another. Great technique. Also, I should maybe RTFM a bit more...

      Hey Adam! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. Dan Worall is great, and gives a really helpful explanation about this technique in one of his plugin walkthroughs.
      I agree - this technique is incredibly helpful! Especially when you're trying to mix quickly and don't want to spend too much time switching between corrective EQ settings. I always find it helps me get to the creative part of mixing much faster.
      Thanks again for watching!

      Thanks for the comment Roberto! That's right - it's super helpful when trying to add some clarity. Especially between the kick and bass.

    If you match them in loudness first too, the end result will be even more audible.

    Hi, sorry, for instrumental/vocals, I should add the eq tot the instrumental or vocal chain?

    Tnx for the tip. Is there a specific order to do this in vocals + music bus? Like, I can make either a vocal sidechain or a music bus sidechain?

    • @sageaudio
      @sageaudio  3 года назад +1

      There's benefits to doing it at the beginning or end! I prefer starting with it to get a clean slate so to speak.

    How will I be able to apply this to multiple leads and chords that's share the same frequency. I make big room.

    • @sageaudio
      @sageaudio  Год назад

      The quickest way would be to send the multiple leads and chords (or whatever 2 groups you'd like to separate) to 2 separate busses. Then, insert the EQ on one bus, and side-chain the other bus. Follow what's shown in the video and the 2 busses should be separated a good amount.

    Great video! Is there a way to do this to get more clarity in a lead vocal?

    • @sageaudio
      @sageaudio  3 года назад +1

      Thanks for watching! if you match your lead vocal to the full instrumental mix, and then invert is very subtly you'll separate the two really well, and add a lot of clarity to the vocal.
