    Those tips are great. Even if we wear ‘protective style ‘ they are steps we need to preserve our fine strands.

      Yay!! I'm glad you saw this video first! I never install small box braids on my strands anymore either... it causes me way too much breakage.
      Enjoy your new box braids install! I'm sure it will look gorgeous!!!! 😍🙌🏾

    Crochet braids are the devil for fine hair. I got them installed once, years ago and i could visibly see my hair pulled out at the front. I thought i had dry scalp flakes but on a closer looks it was the white bulb root of my hair! I took them out after a week.
    I have since learned how to install kinky twists on my own hair. I haven't learned how to grip straighter hair yet!

    • @FineNaturalHairROCKS
      @FineNaturalHairROCKS  Год назад +1

      Oh noooo.. that sounds like such an awful experience! I'm glad you were able to catch the damage before it proceeded too far on your precious hairline!! Did you get the style installed at a salon as well?
      As for installing kinky twists, the best thing is always to learn how to do it ourselves. I'm not fully there yet, but my goal is to take full control of my styling as well. The difficult truth is that no stylist will care about your hair as much as you do. Thanks so much for sharing with me! I hope your hairline recovers asap! 🙏🏾

    I wear twists. I do them myself so I don’t mind taking them out after 3-4 weeks. That’s my max usually. I don’t use edge control. Spray with watered down alikay naturals lemongrass leave in!

    I think it depends on what type of braiding hair you use for the kinky twist. I found some hair that is so soft and light it does not pull on my hair at all. It actually don't even feel like I have anything on my head no stress or anything and I did all individual small boxes. If I would have did it would normal Marley hair or regular kink lawn hair that's very heavy it would have possibly pulled my hair out but the hair I found works perfectly.

      Nice!! Which braiding hair have you used for kinky twists that was soft and light?

    I have fine thin 4c hair, so Stylists tend to always cut smaller section of my hair for braids/twists in order to make my hair appear fuller. I try to avoid mini braids because it always chop my hair, medium braids does the protecting for me.

    • @FineNaturalHairROCKS
      @FineNaturalHairROCKS  Год назад +1

      Hey Beautiful! I know exactly what you're saying when you mention stylists cutting smaller sections of your hair for braids/twists to make it fuller. I experience this a lot as well and it always leads to breakage for me due to the heavy hair being on my fine strands. Medium braids work really well for me too. I'm thinking bigger large braids would work well too but only if they're installed on larger parts.
      I'm currently trying to teach myself how to braid because then I could wear the style without relying on the stylist to know how to properly handle fine natural hair.

    The less tension at the front, hair that is not overly long or bulky and keeping my edges moisturized and massaged are key for protective styles.

    Could we moisturize our hair everyday or is it best to keep down to 1-2x a week?

    • @FineNaturalHairROCKS
      @FineNaturalHairROCKS  Год назад

      Hey Beautiful Curlfriend! You can definitely moisturize your hair every day but you might not necessarily need that. Try moisturizing ever day, and then drop down to once every other day. When you make the change, try to see if your hair feels more or less dry based on the frequency of your moisturizing sessions and then go from there. I hope that helps!!! 💛
