DM Convention Kit in a Box - 2023

- SaltCON 2023 is this week and I want to show off my DM Kit that I'm taking with me. It has everything I need to run a jam-packed 16 hours of gaming over 2 days. With all that to fit in, I had to be very concise and organized to I can spend all my brain power, running awesome games!

youtube has been sending me down a DM kit rabbithole and this is the best one I've seen so far. Everything in there has a purpose and place. It makes much more sense to have the materials needed for a select set of adventures instead of the whole kitchen sink. The briefcase makes it even better, I'm sure the click of the clasp is embedded in your mind as the "game on" sound.
I wish I could play in a game where the GM was this passionate and dedicated

Thanks! It's interesting seeing the two side by side and seeing how some things have remained in both versions and what I ended up changing. Makes me wonder what next year's kit will be like!

Watching you pull stuff out of that case made me think what if it was one of those cases like salesmen used to use that had built-in legs? No idea if those are still made but a case like that could be set up next to the DM's chair at the table to keep everything right at-hand but not between the DM and players. Of course just setting that case up on a TV tray would accomplish the same thing...

Oh man... I use multi color stones in my games, but your idea of using the rune stones is brilliant and I'm totally stealing it lol. Great set up!
That briefcase could only improve if it transformed into a GM screen 😊
Not a bad idea haha. I don't typically use a GM screen because I like rolling out in from of the players and I run mostly from my journal, but a that would be a pretty epic upgrade!

Love the idea of making big maps from printed regular paper and just taping/ gluing them together.
Me too! I just finished using them at the convention this weekend and they worked great. The players loved them!
This really speaks to me. I love the setup for Dead Zone! And I really know what you mean about pre-gen characters. As an "exercise" when I got Master Edition, I took all the Heroes from the Valor's Call mini set (Strongheart, Ringlerun, Molliver, etc.) and translated them into IC:RPG characters. Then I did the same for a couple of other sets of Hero minis that I had, and the next thing you know I'm at 3 dozen.
Just shows easy and fun IC RPG can be. Versus the dread I feel every time I think about making a 5e character...
Yeah pre-gens are such a fun sandbox to play in and ICRPG really keeps things simple to not only produce them, but they're not overwhelming when I hand them to the new players.

I just found my dead zone prints. They’re like index card size… completely different, but great memories either way.
Those XDZ cards are just so darn useful. I think I have like three different versions printed out and tucked away.

That one is actually one I hand made. I know Runehammer is working on some ICRPG shirts though soon for the Runehammer store though.

I actually just picked it up from my local thrift store. Always worth scrounging around for goodies.
What cons do you run at? I debated running at PAX East but idk I’ve only run online so Con running feels like a whole new animal. 😂
O sick great minds I also have color coded dice sets for new players. It’s a great teaching tool. 🎉
I’ve only run games at my local convention, SaltCon. It certainly is different than playing online but it’s a ton of fun. I stuck to my comfort zone and ran adventures I was really comfortable with

Oh and as for ink, I have an Epson Eco-Tank. $50 for the refill and I think I get a couple thousand pages. I mean I’ve probably printed master edition half a dozen times by now and I’ve still got ink in the tank
