Fantastic interview mate, you ask all the right questions, please have Greg on again as he is the most interesting person with the best stories in the bb world!
I just watched this and Wow! Greg is the most entertaining speaker I ever listened to! I don't think I could ever tire of listening to him! I loved his MD column and I have his books but nothing prepared for how addictive just listening to him is! We definitely need more and more of this! My favourite RUclips video ever...by a mile!
Gregg IS THE MAN, good interview Gregg is very articulate and gives us a mental picture that comes alive with his words. Some of the things he talks about in this new age aren't really correct since the sport grew, more people are training than ever before and our sport is gaining momentum each year as more and more young people choose to stay drug-free.
Great video a long one but I loved it it's great hearing about all the great body builders of the past. When I was in my 20s I used to think my favourite bodybuilders were all millionaires living the dream tell I read a copy of iron man magazine found out most of them had mundane jobs like carpark attendants school teachers but bodybuilding back then was exciting and fun . Today's oversized freaks just leave me cold great video again shawn
Thanks Gary - got a lot of shit for this one in the amount of stupid comments so I wondered if I had fked it up or something. I was having God awful Internet issues so it didn't help my confidence or mindset worrying about shit like lag, poor sound quality and drop outs from happening. Thanks again though I really appreciate the support
Truly Gregg is a force of nature. Apart from his much publised arrest, I knew little about his earlier life. Wow he was a genuine natural bodybuilding prodigy. Epic interview. You always get the best out of guests.
Great interview. I like how you gave him his props towards the end about his legacy, he’s been entertaining me for 20 years firstly with his column and now with his podcast appearances. You can tell Gregg is a “good guy”. A genuine bloke unlike some of his RX Muscle “pals”. Would Love to see him on again.
Thanks Tom. TBH, I got a bit emotional sensing Gregg's reaction when I said that, as I didn't plan on saying it. I had to look away because I almost got a bit teary considering all that Gregg's been through recently with his health issues. I blame my low T levels of course....
The problem with taking what bodybuilders say at face value is dissonance. You're looking at huge men, and so your brain assumes they must be "roughnecked manly men". In reality, they are beauty contest competitors, so of course they are often driven by jealousy, mistrust, and rumour, lol.
Again, right on target with my thoughts exactly. The deeper I delve into this, the more the lies, insecurities and blatant contradictions become apparent. "How can you tell a Bodybuilder is lying?" "His lips are moving" is a joke I'm falling back on more and more.
I wonder if there is a correlation between early gear use and maximizing the effectiveness of its application to Bodybuilding - a synergistic effect of sorts. Exercise in the early years seems to compound the results achieved for a particular muscle group, so I wonder if adding gear to the mix could only multiply that effect
Tricky question. Rough sex was his thing. Never physically abusive with Lucie his wife. Had an accusation a long time back from a disgruntled ex that he was abusive which led to possible jail time...unsure from memory id that was why he served time for exactly so don't quote me. He told me the abuse charge was fabricated, but who knows
Had the same thing, very unpleasant, only positive for Gregg is he now has a dieting partner seconded to none, as fat digestion despite what doctors say, never come back to pre-gall bladder removal...
@@carvedouttastone Yeah! 😂 2002.? There was a pic in the T Nation video of some New Jersey newspapers= frontline Page ...Gregg being arrested by Police and the title says: Arrested for steroids or you thought HE WAS STORING NUTS IN THOSE ARMS FOR WINTER?! 😂😂😂😂
I believe Lou . I believe Matty Ferrigno was a complete a-hole. Lou suffering from a disability which made him very vulnerable and sensitive to certain things in life. I feel his father was very disappointed that he had a son that was not "normal" in some ways. I also believe that Dan Lurie story. The fact that they were trying to portray him as a good supportive father in pumping iron is ridiculous. I guess that's why they call it a docudrama because everything in the film was not accurate. Lou stated that after he lost to Arnold in 1975 in Pretoria South Africa, his father came to him and said you're a loser. I want you out of my house when we get back to the States. Very sad.
Matty Ferrigno protected Lou, took him to his first bodybuilding show. He did his best to make him tough, living in a tough city, at a time when being deaf would often get you treated as "educationally subnormal". Matty insisted Lou go to a regular school, at a time when most deaf kids were consigned to a "special" school, where you were dumped and forgotten about. Lou's brother tells the whole story differently, especially Lou supposedly being "kicked out" after the Olympia. No one has a good word to say about Lou, and he often acts as if the world exists to serve him, so his word might be suspect. The only people that have anything bad to say about Matty are just repeating the stories Lou told.

Gregg's impression of the alien in Leo's toilet that he was hallucinating before his death is hilarious. Great guy frfr.
Greg's impressions of anyone are the best lol

Used to subscribed to MD magazine just for Gregg's column!

On the forums, there are guys that say "hop on at 14, 'cos you'll get all that free growth hormone".

Did Leo beat women?
Dr Tony and Jon Bravo kinda suggested it, and not just in relation to the call girl.
