She is just on another level, I love her books so much! It is captivating every time and it takes me away to places and lives as a silent observer. She is not preaching, yet I learn so much :)
She is such an amazing and eloquent writer. She grabs the attention of the readers till the last word. She is a great inspiration for me. I really want to write like her. GoD bless her!
She seems like such a tranquil, peaceful person. And then she says she listens to metal... Lol! Such a shock! Maybe this is the secret to achieving calm.
It is generally the ones that appear "calm" who are usually the ones that are the most broken & the most chaotic inside. So i would definately say: 'never judge a book by its cover'. Don't be decieved by peoples external presentation. Trust me, this is coming from someone who suffers from multiple mental health issues... i know it all too well.
Finished reading this book 2 days ago and I still can't get over it..I cried yesterday and I'm crying even now... it's so difficult to explain what I am feeling after reading this book because it's really complicated..and I believe someone who has read this book can only understand what's happening to me right now..I have read four of Elif Shafak's novel but the impact this one has had on me is really different..
This book was my first Elif Shafak read and I loved the book. A fiction based on such a scientific fact is first of its kind that I have encountered with. A lot of emotions instilled in me while reading the book. Definitely recommend it especially if you are strong to take up. More power to Elif Shafak.
I adoreeeee you!!! I read your “the Bastard of Istanbul”. It became my favorite book of 2020!!! Then I ordered your another book “Three daughters of Eve”; it arrived today. I’m so thankful to you for writing about armenian genocide!
I love her books! "Forty rules of love" was one of them and I read it over and over...underlining parts that I wanted to come back to. She sounds like such a fascinating person too! Wow! I can't wait to get my hands on this book!
It's hard to believe that this beauty really exists and belongs to our planet. I m proud as a turkish reader to share the same nationality with her and also sad that she has been greatly valued everywhere but in her own country.

The story of Leila her unhappy childhood, her troubled Mother and the devastating molestation by her uncle is heartbreaking but also uplifting. One cannot but warm to this optimistic ,loving person and the strong relationships she forms. The last part of the book about the friends rescuing her from the paupers cemetery is touching ,unreal but humane. It is almost essential to comfort the weepy reader
Have recently read this novel and also 'The 40 rules of Love'. Both are amazing (silly word, but they are!). Had no idea Elif was so beautiful though! Wow.
Such an incredible and interesting woman. A powerful & eloquent storyteller. I love her books and the way she describes her thought processes behind her stories and characters. Beautiful!
It is an amazing novel ma'm,, , while reading it, i thought i was roaming the streets of Istanbul, i could see Layla and gathering of her friends. It engrossed me, and i cried alot, alot. 😭😭😭 Amazung story, i love it, live long ma'am Elif, God bless you.
@@booksourexistence2153 there are two stories going side by side. A married woman receives a novel from her literary company for critical review. When she starts the novel it facinates her. The novel is about the union of Shams of Tabriz who is a wandering mystic, dervish and a sofi with the great Scholer of the time Mulana Rumi who is not yet a poet. The novel absorbs the married woman who leaves her husband her children and home to meet the author of the novel.
