im fashion student from malaysia, your explanation better than other youtuber that explain of the princess line, i meannn like you so detail in everything such as how cm you use and everything THANKYOUUU SOOO MUCHHH 🖤
Love your videos - love the way you say "pattern" - I just wanted to share a couple of tips I've learned. Instead of cotton muslin, I use cotton sheets from the Goodwill because they are less expensive per yard, and after all it's just your test garment. Also, I've learned to always put the pattern pieces I need to ease in towards the feed dogs - a sleeve for example - the sleeve pattern piece should always be towards the feed dogs to help ease it in, this tip improved my game ten fold. Thank you for sharing your videos!
Omg you have no idea how happy I am right now I was waiting for this video like forever,I really really love you and love your videos God bless you ❤️❤️❤️😍😍
Awwww thank you for your patience Mariam. I hope you find the video useful. If you have anymore questions, feel free to ask and I will answer to the best of my abilities 😇
Thank you once again Priscilla! I had a pattern for a backless dress with princess seams that was gapping on the sides. Adding in a dart using this tutorial now to make it more tailored! Appreciate you!
Thank you for the amazing tutorial! ❤ I have found that stay stitching and snipping the curve of the princess seam is a real lifesaver when you do this kind of seam on a big bust. Easing it in works well for me on a regular B-cup or a smaller bust, but as soon as I have to do my own FB adjusted princess seam snipping is really the only way to get a clean result without having a meltdown at the machine 😅
hey Pri, thank you for such an informative yet fun video, I wanted to ask, do you have any book suggestions for someone who's beginning to sew? one that has information on pattern making, choosing fabric, tools and all that??
Hi Kim,I want to also add princess seam to the back of my blouse, so my question is, do I just copy the front to the back r is there adjustments that I need to make? #Jamaica.
Brilliant. Thank you. Though it did make think, wouldn't it be easier to make it from 1 panel and add a dart. At least from me, as I'm not really good at the top part of the Princess seam
Love your tutorials and how easy they are to follow. Thanks a bunch for sharing. However I would like to know if the dart and addition to the length won't affect the waist and hip line?
Thanks 😊 The length addition to to ensure the waist and hip lines aren’t lost, because if your lift the side by the said 3cm without adding it to the length, then you do lose your waist & hip lines. That’s what I’ve found from making garments, but if you know a better way to do the side dart I’m more than happy to learn 😃
Kim Dave I wish I knew. I'm new to sewing and eager to learn and avoid mistakes that's why I ask alot of questions, sorry🙈. My instructors get tired easily. I just felt that the addition to d button of the fabric while cutting off from the top part might not take into account theslight change in the position of the waist and hip line. I hope I am wrong because it seems so easy and straightforward with your explanation and I don't want complications. Thanks for your quick response
You can add the 3cm to the armhole n curves it back when sew dart the arm hole will come back normal but for princess line we dont need underarm darts thank
Hi Kim! Love your video’s 😍 can you help matching my princess seam to my 2 piece sleeve. I would like a clean finish so the seams will match en look like one. Thankx!
ohhh my God i love the video hope you can make a tutorial on how to do a pattern on corset tops or dress..thank u i love all your patterns and i made mine also
I have a question: you could remove the dart on the side by making the gap of the princess seam on the top bigger/the curve bigger, right? Also I think it turned out really well, it's interesting because I was wondering if the curve of the princess seam HAS to line up with the bust area for the effect of creating the bust shape, and you put it higher up and it still turned out good.
Hi girl! My name is Graça Clifford. I am one of your followers in RUclips and I have being learning a lot with you. THANKSSSSSSS!!!!👏🏽👍🏽 I would love if you could help me teaching how to hide just part of a dart. I have a picture of what I am talking about but I don’t know how to send to you🥺🥺
Hello! Can I have a little help ? my armholes especially at the back are gaping. Any idea how to adjust that? I’ve noticed yours is a little bit too, should the across shoulder be a little shorter in that case?
Thank you very much for this tutorial would you please make the video on how to make the princess seam blouses pattern next time? Thank you god bless you
Hi Kim I have question. My front length from shoulder to waist is 20 inches. My back is 2 inches shorter. Should I add a 2 inches bust side dart to shorten the side seam so the front and back sides would be even. Or is there another way so they be even on the side seams.
Hello Kim, thanks for the video What's the name of the pattern paper, what's the size of the paper and where can I get it? I would also appreciate if you can recommend a translucent paper for tracing? Thanks.
Hey Gurl, loving your work ! I wanted to know if it's possible to add the dart into the curved princess line at centre point of the armhole, instead of adding it at the side ?
Nice job..pls can you let us know which bodice block to use..I think you have one which you modified later but that basic one was done years ago. So could you please please! do a 2021_2022 updated bodice block with all modifications from updates you've learnt over the years. Many people have different modifications but I'd like to get your updated bodice for basic and princes cuts. If noting has changed, please let me know here too. Many thanks in advance. God bless you always in Jesus' name.
I have a personal question about handing large cities where fashion design schools are held and being i introverted. Are you introverted or need to pay close attention to your mental or emotional health?
I am an ambivert (introvert extrovert) Some days I am comfortable in a group and talking to anyone, but other days I just want to keep to myself. I do pay very close attention to my mental, spiritual and emotional health, these areas are very sensitive as a creative so I guard my mind and heart very carefully.
@@KimDave fashion capitals such as new york tend to be hard one ambiverts and introverts. Did you ever have to go to a fashion capital, and if so, did you hesitate because of the strain the environment would put on your health and spirituality?

Is it necessary to add the side darts when making princess seam?
Hi dear thank you for this easy explanation. Why did you come down with 4 inches on the Armhole? Is it the middle point that you took?
Yes it's roughly the middle point.
Hello! Can I have a little help ?
my armholes especially at the back are gaping. Any idea how to adjust that? I’ve noticed yours is a little bit too, should the across shoulder be a little shorter in that case?
Priscilla. Can i say ... Thamk you!!!
Kim, are you familiar with the Janome HD3000BE Heavy Duty Sewing Machine w/ 18 stitches? If so what is your impression of the machine?
Hi there. No I haven’t used the mentioned sewing machine so I can’t say much about it
Hi Kim Dave, I'm curious to know if it is ok for one to make a regular dress with a princess dart in front and no princess dart at the back
Princess darts are usually in the front of garments, to sculpt a better fit around the bust
@@KimDave ok. Thank you ma
That fabric isn't stretchy so how would you get it on? Zipler or buttons?

The shoulder to waist measurement shouldnt impact the side seams like that. Review your instructions.

thank you شكرااا
Thanks you so much mam ur teaching very clear mam western pattern I want mam
Hi. Can anyone tell me how can I make the princess line starting from shoulder? I kinda do not want it on the armhole
Hi Kim, my arm hole is 19 inches, how far down should I go to create princess seam please?
You can place the start of a princess seam anywhere from the shoulder seam, armscye or upper side seam. Its up to you.
So you sew it with the sewing machine and then just flip it so that the seams are on the inside?
Yes. Then press the seam flat towards the center of the figure/garment, or towards the back in the case of side and shoulder seams.
Hey Gurl, loving your work !
I wanted to know if it's possible to add the dart into the curved princess line at centre point of the armhole, instead of adding it at the side ?
Thanks dear.
Yes you can move the bust dart into the princess seam in the armhole.
Kim Dave I created a blouse for a Sari, using this pattern it has turned out way better than I expected. Thanks once again for sharing your knowledge
Thank u
New sub
What do you do if you have a large bust and your dart is at the shoulder?
Rotate the dart to the side seam or armhole and work from there.
can you adapt this to make a dress and how can I add a zipper
Do we put side darts on the princess SIM. I thought you moving the darts to make princess seam
The darts become the princess seam. Its just another way of shaping the fabric to fit the body. You dont use both methods at once.
Does this princess seam armhole eliminate a gaping armhole?
You can remove the gapping through the seam on the armhole
How can I get those "tools"... pattern master et al...?
Amazon.
Good job pls may I know why you are missing measurements which are inches and centimeter are they equal, thanks
One inch = 2.5cm. I yard is close to 1 meter. 1 foot is 12 inches.
I made the mistake of putting the curve too low in the armhole and it was awful and didn’t fit correctly 😂😂 beware !😮
I want to cut it at the waist line and I just want to know if i also have to add the 3cm to the bottom
Yes you can add the 3cm to the hem to even out the length
Can please teach how to make a waist dart without transferring it
hi, what is the name of the fabric u used for the testing ?
It's called Calico
