Hi Ben, I have a question for you: as human beings, do we need to do inner work? Inner child healing? Or it is just about going beyond the ego and detaching from the stories? The stories come back when you are triggered, so I wonder how to deal: do inner child healing or just focus on the now. Thank you
I saw your video on 5 phase meditation. I need some answer and hope u could help me out at the age of 18 I use to have vivid dreams and out of body experience..I can feel I'm flying around my neighbors and my intuition was high and on spot. But since I married and divorce, I don't have this intuition anymore and recently I started to meditate. I always feel like in a blank room. Total black. At times I have thoughts. At times I don't realize I dozz off. Will my meditate take time again and will I ever get back my intuition
Unfortunately it has lately become more and more common with this immediate texting on the screen. It's very disturbing, and when I stumble over a video with such a texting I drop it :-/
Im kinda confused about your statement of the emotions,i always thinked that emotions need to be controlled not avoided,emotions make humans humans,and guide us through all our lives. Pls let me know.
Emotions need to be mastered. They cannot be controlled. Controlling something is having the ability to eradicate it. Mastering is acknowledging the emotions ability to rise up and feeling prepared to handle them in the most efficient ways. It’s like Mr. Miyagi in the Karate Kid movie- he talks about not being able to control violence directed at him, but he has mastered the tools/skills needed to subdue the aggressor. Only logic and rationality can offer the tools/skills to subdue emotions. Anger and fear can rise within us at anytime- yet, with the tools of self-reflection and greater self-awareness, we can methodically address them. It’s not about “feeling” your emotions, it’s simply acknowledging them for the time of their duration and applying our tools to ease them- show these emotions compassion. For example: “I’m suddenly angry bc my car won’t turn on… I’m aware my anger is triggered by opposition, belittling, or dismissal types of situations. This is an opposition-type of occurrence right now… Anger can only be caused by external factors (in this case my car not turning on). Yet, I’m aware that this emotion mirrors back internally as sadness… so, what has made me sad about this oppositional situation? Well, I’m sad of failing my commitment to show up on time, I’m sad that I didn’t take that engine light more seriously, I’m sad about the ripple effect this brings to those waiting for me, or how much more expensive fixing it’ll be now…” Lastly, “What’s my wisest move from here? How can I reduce my sadness? Because fixing the car right now is out of the question…” THIS is mastering the emotion of anger… shifting the blow I just got thrown my way by methodically understanding (like Mr. Miyagi) what is the best move I can take to counteract it while being aware of what just unfolded. I don’t have control of the oppositional event I’m experiencing, but I can deploy the best tactic now that I’m aware of the situation I’m facing.
@ can you reference the timestamp which you’re highlighting about avoiding emotions? I’m speaking of timestamp @2:10: “Use logic, not emotions”- the keyword being “use”. Using something is performing an action with the tool chosen, from which we expect a result to come out of it. We must be aware of our emotions, yet use logic to take action on them.
