- A lawsuit filed against Turkey Leg Hut in Houston over its smokers has been 'suspended'.
The legal battle that has been going on for the past couple of weeks ended with the plaintiff saying they will not pursue further legal action for now.
Beware, because they may try to comeback with another angle to attack the popular restaurant.

I'm here in the suburbs where our community used to be predominantly black. Other surrounding communities are either all white or mixed, but here they are, in our community, gentrifying it, when there is more than enough space for them in their own communities. This is a concerted effort on their part. And when you talk to a realtor in this area about buying a home, they automatically say, "oh, you need to move to Philly, because it's cheaper". They literally have the audacity to say that mess.
My grandma always said that all they do is ‘claim it and re-name it’.

My family's business goes through some of the same things. We're right over the "red line" so the government has made it extremely difficult for us. Every little thing, they're there. They're trying to "check things out" and change things, which costs money. It's like they're trying to make it hard enough for us to give up. But we don't come from quitters. My grandparents owned their own business too. We would never give up, so they'll just keep wasting their time while we keep things perfect and pristine for when they pop up. 😂

Representatives from the coalition need to attend every city council and civic-oriented meeting that affects their community. They also need to get support from the churches in their neighborhoods, and businesses. And if the businesses refuse to support their neighborhood, they should be unified in not spending their money there. Also, the members of the community need to come together at least once a month, if not bi-weekly, to commune (share a meal) and discuss relevant issues. The coalition also needs to establish relations with the council members that represent their area, and a law firm that would be available to handle any legal advice or action the coalition might need to consider. We have to work as a unified force!
