It is going to be a different shape, the cages will all line a wall in an L shape and can be 3 grids wide, so bigger, nothing gigantic but will be much less crowded.

Rabbits are expensive, but no more expensive than guinea pigs. That is not why she said he's alone. Someone who has multiple piggies isn't going to complain about the cost of having another rabbit.

He has only ever known being alone and was so hard to tame and earn his trust that I like spending time with him one on one. It took years to get him to come around properly.

Have you ever considered getting a small hand held vacuum for the pigs spot cleans every day? We always use ours as well as we own a wet and dry shop vac and those are two of the best things we've ever bought!
For some reason RUclips isn't letting me reply. Yes I do trust the vet. They see a lot of exotics and they neutered my boar. She has been doing fine on the baytril so far. She is much happier now that she is feeling better and is back with the herd. Thanks. I just wanted to double check and I know you had problems with stasis. First off, I love your videos. I've learned a lot from you about Guinea pigs and it's helped me with my two piggies. It's obvious that you take great care of your pets but one thing I noticed in the video is all the hay laying around the power strip, which could be dangerous. You probably vacuum it away periodically but I just wanted to point it out. :)
skinnypigs, I want to thank you so much for telling us how you put Calvin on the Oxbow Joint Support tablets and how much you felt that they helped him. I have two piggies who are almost eight years of age and after seeing Calvin's good response to the tablets I put both of my girls on them and saw such an improvement in how much more agile they seemed to be after a few weeks on the tablets. I also have two piggies who are six years old and two piggies who are almost three years old. I was wondering if they are too young to put on the Joint Support tablets? They aren't having any problems with arthritis or joint stiffness but I was wondering if the tablets might help to forestall any problems that could develop? Thanks for the radicchio warning. I think I'll give a little less each day.

Interesting about the Raddichio causing bloat/gas in Pecan...we are a new guinea pig family. We adopted our 1st ever pair of brother guinea pigs (Filbert & Peanut) from SSPCA 3 years ago. It's been great, but have had a couple scares. We just went through our first experience with bloat in 1 of our piggies who wasn't eating his hay for maybe a day or 2 and then quickly got bloat. Didn't know what was happening, but it scared us, so we took him immediately to the vet. It took 3 days for the G.I. meds to really kick in and for the bloat to subside. Am glad to know about the Raddichio! (I will avoid it, now that I know.) Have you found there are any other veggies that cause gas/bloat issues in any of your piggies? We are down to bell peppers, red or green leaf lettuce, carrots & cucumber. Would like to give more variety, any suggestions? (We also have to limit calcium bc one of our piggies had bladder stone removal surgery a few months ago. Scary.) Trying to learn & do as much as we can to do right by our piggies, so much to learn. Thank you for being a great resource of info!🐹💖
Now I don't know if it is radicchio, I am thinking perhaps it was switching them onto Oxbow pellets from KMS. It is a process figure this out lol. All the other pigs do perfectly fine on the radicchio, so I will continue to feed it. Bullseye cannot have cucumber, that bloats him up, that is the only veggie I have had an issue with and Bullseye does have a GI tract issue that requires medication daily.
skinnypigs1 Interesting, thank you....maybe we'll go "light" on the raddichio for now just to see how it goes and also light on the cucumbers. (Thinking back we did give 2-3 slices of cucumber the day before the bloat issue started. Hmmmm....glad you mentioned that.) We switched from Kaytee pellets to KMS pellets in December (right after Filbert had his bladder stone removed....we learned about limiting calcium at that time). I am hopeful the KMS is going to be OK. Did you switch to Oxbow pellets bc of a specific concern? 🐹💗
i I have a question maybe you will know because you own hairless guinea pigs. My hairless guinea pig is about 6 months, he seems to be loosing weight but he still eats just like before, his bones are starting to notice on his back, any suggestions? has this happened to any of your guinea pigs? please reply, thank you.

It isn't necessary and no I don't give them all Vitamin C, just the younger ones and Calvin. Otherwise I do give out half of the Urinary support tabs to the rest.
A diet with fresh veggies, high quality pellets and occasional fruit should be enough Vitamin C, but when ill or recovering from surgery you should always give extra. Never hurts to give extra at any time though.

Hey! I have a question for you. Is it a priority to feed veggies and fruits? Every morning I give my guinea pigs their vitamin c tablets and their oxbow pellets and hay. Lately I haven't been feeding them veggies because I have been running out very quickly and since I don't go to the super market everyday it's been a question I need an answer to. :)
Johanna Cardoza I can give you tips on how to store veggies properly so that they can last for up to two weeks. I have three guinea pigs and I only have to buy veggies biweekly. Lettuce- buy a small bin and take apart the lettuce from the stem. Wash it and put it in the bin with enough water to cover, refrigerate. Carrots- I buy whole carrots and wash them and put them back in the bag. Store them air tight and refrigerate. Bell peppers- wash and put back in produce bag. Refrigerate. Any herbs- cut the ends and put the stems in a glass of water and cover with produce bag. Do not wash until just before you feed it. Refrigerate. Hope this helps, if you want to know how to store other veggies just ask! Also make sure to buy enough veggies to last at least a week at a time
I got my bun two days ago, I got both oxbow hay and pellets. she's eating the hay, but refuses to eat the pellets. the guy I got her from said she was eating pedigree, which as far as I know is dog food... just wanted to know if you had any type of advice for me

Since you have so many guinea pigs do you buy hay in bulk? And if so where? I go through hay like there's no tomorrow with my two skinny boys, I'm also located in Ontario Canada
Yes I buy in bulk. A local Home Hardware sells Oxbow products so I just ask for the 50lbs boxes to be ordered in. You can order it from Zoey & Lilo's Toy Box (online shop located in Kingston) or if you have a store near you that carries Oxbow just ask.
My guinea pigs chew the bars all the time, and it is super annoying. Do you have any idea how I can get them to stop? Also great video the piggies are all so cute. Thanks.
Hmmm, surprised they chew so much then. Usually chewing is when bored. Do they have any hanging toys or tunnels to keep them busy? Some piggies need more to do than others? Do they have hay at all times? What I did for a chewer was put plexiglass up in front of the bars so no more chewing could happen.

(Thinking back we did give 2-3 slices of cucumber the day before the bloat issue started. Hmmmm....glad you mentioned that.) skinnypigs1 Interesting about the pellets too! We switched from Kaytee pellets to KMS pellets in December (right after Filbert had his bladder stone removed....we learned about limiting calcium at that time). I am hopeful the KMS is going to be OK. Did you switch to Oxbow pellets bc of a specific concern? 🐹💗
I cannot get KMS anymore, awhile back they said no more shipping to Canada for the time being, so I switched.

I have a question maybe you will know because you own hairless guinea pigs. My hairless guinea pig is about 6 months, he seems to be loosing weight but he still eats just like before, his bones are starting to notice on his back, any suggestions? has this happened to any of your guinea pigs? please reply, thank you.
He needs to see the vets to get tested, those are all signs that something serious is going on inside his body.

Very rarely, the most that may be left is a few lettuce centers, but really everything is gone in about 20 minutes.

It isn't necessary and no I don't give them all Vitamin C, just the younger ones and Calvin. Otherwise I do give out half of the Urinary support tabs to the rest.

A diet with fresh veggies, high quality pellets and occasional fruit should be enough Vitamin C, but when ill or recovering from surgery you should always give extra. Never hurts to give extra at any time though.

Hey! I have a question for you. Is it a priority to feed veggies and fruits? Every morning I give my guinea pigs their vitamin c tablets and their oxbow pellets and hay. Lately I haven't been feeding them veggies because I have been running out very quickly and since I don't go to the super market everyday it's been a question I need an answer to. :)

Johanna Cardoza I can give you tips on how to store veggies properly so that they can last for up to two weeks. I have three guinea pigs and I only have to buy veggies biweekly. Lettuce- buy a small bin and take apart the lettuce from the stem. Wash it and put it in the bin with enough water to cover, refrigerate. Carrots- I buy whole carrots and wash them and put them back in the bag. Store them air tight and refrigerate. Bell peppers- wash and put back in produce bag. Refrigerate. Any herbs- cut the ends and put the stems in a glass of water and cover with produce bag. Do not wash until just before you feed it. Refrigerate. Hope this helps, if you want to know how to store other veggies just ask! Also make sure to buy enough veggies to last at least a week at a time

I got my bun two days ago, I got both oxbow hay and pellets. she's eating the hay, but refuses to eat the pellets. the guy I got her from said she was eating pedigree, which as far as I know is dog food...

Since you have so many guinea pigs do you buy hay in bulk? And if so where? I go through hay like there's no tomorrow with my two skinny boys, I'm also located in Ontario Canada
Yes I buy in bulk. A local Home Hardware sells Oxbow products so I just ask for the 50lbs boxes to be ordered in. You can order it from Zoey & Lilo's Toy Box (online shop located in Kingston) or if you have a store near you that carries Oxbow just ask.

They are in a c and c cage. It is a 2 by 8.
Hmmm, surprised they chew so much then. Usually chewing is when bored. Do they have any hanging toys or tunnels to keep them busy? Some piggies need more to do than others? Do they have hay at all times? What I did for a chewer was put plexiglass up in front of the bars so no more chewing could happen.
They have toys but not many. If they have a good amount of toys could they still chew the bars because they just like doing it?
Do they get attention when they do? Could be a bad habit they have formed.
