    The mohawk is taught in figure skating (ex professional figure skater here). I have always taught it to my hockey students when coaching private lessons and while they thought it was really difficult at first, it's one of the best ways to transition on the ice in many game situations. The faster you can do them, but better.

      Also, when you are gliding on both inside edges at the same time, that is called an inside spread eagle. The mohawk turn is when you are on one inside edge and then transfer weight to the other foot.
