Good to have you back. As to upgrade, keep the old ones, use some of that lotto prize and treat yourself with a nice digital system, you stincking millionaire!
I have went from Fatshark Dominator V3 over to SkyZone Sky04X, love them. Amazing view angle, great receiver and overall package. The screens are a delight to look at. I only need to change the factory PU leather foam to NewBeeDrone Max Comfort ones to get better comfort. The head strap is very comfortable even on my giant head. The DVR is very good, which is important for me.
Great, Stew is back with a proper review. Always love to watch them and again this is a good review, thanks again. Hope you are feeling good / great again. Greetings and al the best wishes from the Netherlands.
I think I've pretty much settled on the 04Xs for my next goggle (my Cyclops is starting to annoy). It's been an agonizing decision, especially as you can see in the comments here with people saying to just go DJI. I would, except I pretty much exclusively fly whoops/micros, and even a Caddix Vista would cost more than the entire rest of the quad... and possibly weigh just as much! I'm hoping for at least a five year time with them, and maybe by then we'll all have quads with digital VTXes the size of our fingernails. This was basically the most useful review I've come across for these goggles, oddly enough particularly because of the mention of how tight the band is, I'll know to replace it. I've got an unequivocally large head, like an orange on a toothpick.
Hi Stew I hope you know that I just purchased the SKYZONE 03O and I love flying with them. And now I find out that SKYZONE decided to come out with these. BUMMER !!! Thanks again for the information and video
@@cinialvespow1054 o3o is a great goggle.... you cant go wrong with having a nice set of oled goggles.... shark byte is around thecorner and will really shine on the oled goggles
G'day, Stew! Good to see you at it again. And with an exclusive product to review, no less! Yours has to be the first video on these badboys! Love those goggles, they are fully loaded, video looks fantastic, module bay, receiver, boy the only thing missing is a pair of decent antennae. Keep'em coming and happy flying.
I am going to use these skyzone 04X as my daily driver.I wanna see digital getting smaller. I really hope that sometime digital is going to fit in the module bay of our analog goggles , that would be really great.
Fatshark has been in trouble since DJI's HD release. During the battery portion of the review, you mentioned "charging" the goggles a couple of times. To be clear, these goggles have no battery to charge and that cable is only for connecting your battery to your goggles, nothing to do with charging.
Thanks for sharing this, I’m still waiting for mine to get sent. You know you can now pull out the rapidmix on the eachine 300o and plug into the sky04x to get the dual diversity. :-)
@@alejandromontes8262 yes you can, I believe it’s the same module. Eachine calls it rapidmix and Skyzone calls it steadyview. If you look closely at the module you’ll see Skyzone’s label. :-)
So, which house should I buy?!?😆You got me on that one Stew! Wow! That res and FOV sounds niiice! I've been very happy with the Sky03O's 35 deg FOV and 1024x768. I like how you strongly encouraged folks to do their research first, well done!💪
Yeah this feels like an old school uav video def a really good review an all around edit, and also these skyzones seem like the top analog goggle right now but HD is on the Christmas list for sure this year mad props an cheers stu.
Also think about the follow up cost of digital ! Each dji or caddx system adds like 160 dollars to each drone and will be hard/impossible to fit into very small ones
Sky04X or DJI was the question I faced a few weeks ago. Yes the price difference is more than worth it to jump to HD. But I already have an analog quad, and I plan to buy tiny whoops in the future. I hear digital tiny whoops just fly differently due to the weight. And factoring in the price of converting my quad to HD, it is so much more expensive that I could probably just get the Sky04X & a RadioMaster TX16s to upgrade my gear for the price of DJI goggles + CaddX Vista kit. Maybe in the future it will make more sense to upgrade to HD. Anyway, when you tell people "why get this and not the DJI? They are so close in price", you have to remember the cost of the goggles isn't the only cost to go HD. It's easier on reviewers and long time pilots, because you already have other gear to cover the other bases.
Hey my friend, absolutely love your videos and respect your recommendations, just bought a a pair of SkyZone 04X, i fly everything from tiny whoops to 5” freestyle quads, id like your recommendations on the best pair of antennas to get the best analog reception. Thanks much.
I can see guys accidently pulling on that bottom mounted power cable and oops.. blank screen...digital is really the future but the problem in the USA is the new regulation will wipe most of the larger stuff out in two years anyway and most will be flying sub 250g... hmm there is a digital system for that right now but unfortunately Stew won't get one...
I don't have skyzones and I don't yet have shark byte BUT Shark byte just gives an hdmi out. Anything that accepts hdmi (mini) is compatible with them, whether it be your goggles, an fpv screen, or a 65 inch flat screen lol. In terms of mounting, it fits absolutely perfect with the fat shark shell but one youtuber, I don't remember who (Bardwell maybe?) held shark byte up against several other goggles and the consensus was that, even though it's not gonna be the perfect glove fit fat shark is, any of the low profile goggle options, except orqa, will fit just fine. The one downside is that I wouldn't image that the plastic fan mounting piece that comes with it would work on other goggles that aren't fatsharks. Therefore, you'd have to 3D print your own, which means you'd need access to a 3D printer and if you don't have the skills to design that for yourself, you'd have to wait on someone else to do it. I'm sure that piece will be designed relatively quickly it's just a matter of how early of an adopter you want to be lol.
Been wanting to upgrade for awhile, and believe skyzones have better picture, but what is your opinion of customer service because fat shark is well known for that?
Thanks for the review! There is a second module bay, is this for quad diversity only or does it allow to use 3D on two channels similar to the Skyzone 02X? Unfortunately I can't find anything in the specs about 3D support (Eachine EV300O seems to support 3D side by side, which however is less interesting for me).
Hey stew, I just want to say I have been really getting into fpv and I love your videos that are helping me decide which drones I want to get. You are the best, also can you do another under 200 for a full kit because I really am interested also a giveaway would be nice too
odd that at time 7:50 you are showing a problem with the Tight 04x strap but there appears to be at least a 2 inch loop of excess length in the right side available for your adjustment..
I know the DJI's have a great picture, it's a good system, but I'm going with these goggles, and the Shark Byte system... Picture might not be quite as good as the DJI (yet) but it's pretty good, I like the break-up better (sounds weird, I know, just the way the picture breaks up), and I really like that whoop-sized board they've got... Imagine it, Stu...digital HD video on a WHOOP...!! It's finally happened! Yeah yeah, I know, naked Nebula, bit it's no where close, size-wise... Plus digital and analog in one compact goggle set-up without having to totally disassemble them, or buy wonky or expensive parts... Like I say, DJI is great for sure, but I'm going this route... Plus other manufacturers are gonna make cameras for the Shark Byte, and I like the idea of having those choices.
Can eachine ev300O googles have a upgrade to a larger screen closer to the skyzone 04x. As long as there is a hdmi port on the skyzone you can use the new shark bite.
From what I've seen on Bardwell's video on the SharkBite it will work with any goggle that has an HDMI in but the way it mounts to the goggle is with a different fan shroud on the FatSharks. Might need a different mounting method but it will work. I can't remember what the power requirements are for the module either. Maybe only 2s to 3s?
Thank you for sharing with us your experience. Glad to see you enjoying the sun. However I am not sure if we should call 'analog goggles' these and those with hdmi input and replaceable receivers. In fact, there will be digital receivers for them probably soon. So they will surely keep living into the digital era. All youtubers call them analog, as you do. I wonder if it is fair for the goggles.
Hey Stu! I'm from NZ I'll be travelling to OZ soon and want to take my FPV quads with me. I've done some reading on the CASA website. Is there any additional info you think I should know? Cheers :)
please try some different modules in the module bay. Just because it has a module bay doesn't mean that other modules will really be usable. I still have an old pair of Sky02's and very very tempted on these.
Agree, how's the fit for both the rapidfire and the fusion? Are their actually big gains to be had by using the 3rd party modules or are we talking min max?
Man! This is almost like the IPhone, Apple just came out with the 10 last year, then the 11 and now the 12. It just almost seems like last year I bought my Skyzone O2X’s.
O2xs are excellent goggles :) And the 04 is a completely different price category. If you didn't purchase the 03os when you purchased the 02xs, you probably wouldn't have bought the 04xs right? :)
