    This video made the deciding factor over the IIC. It’s great to see people really doing it up for the BMW e36 community. Just ordered mine this evening. Was gonna order DSSR as well but sold out.

    At 7:53 he says you need a "10 mm LONGER" DSSR where I think he means SHORTER, doesn't he? A longer DSSR would push the shifter knob even further forward into the dash.

      @onesikm3 Год назад

      Hey this is also my thoughts as well and I’m not buying anything yet until I’m sure but it makes sense if it get longer it would pivot the top of the rod closer to the dashboard 🤔

      @@onesikm3i bought the extension with that instruction and in indeed does bring the shifter mad close to the dash, almost gonna swap back to stock. I have a 91 318i but the selector rod wasn’t the same as the realoem one for my car either. so I have the curved DSSR with an extended selector joint but I think i shoulda got a straight dssr instead? lowkey my fault for not checking but it was my 318i so 🤷🏻‍♂️ oh whale it worked out in the end still

      @@spideywebbb6425you installed the supreme shifter and now your hands are smashing into the dash ?
      A couple of ways that you can remedy this but since your car shows signs of being tampered with and mismatch of parts. My best recommendation to you would be to measure under the car of what length dssr is required to correct the neutral center positon that was thrown off by installing the straight supreme shifter, one way you could do it is just base it off your current stock dssr and subtract about 10mm off the top of the original one and that usually is the sweet spot to get the stick back into the middle. I’ve mastered this shifting shit

      @@onesikm3 true i did end up cutting and welding my dssr to fit, the 318i one on real oem was crooked or hooked but mine wasn’t so that part was my error, the primary “issue” for me now is it sags just the slightest bit to the right side, and it almost looks like it could be a selector rod thing

    I have this on my e36 and it works really well!! I have the carbon fiber shifter rod and I’d like to see you guys release carbon fiber shift knobs (to match the cf rod and also for heat insulation).

    Would it make sense to make an offset bushing for the carrier? Would allow for the pivot point to be raised and also allow for more clearance between driveshaft

    Website says the Supreme shifter will fit 6MT F10 550i but there is no Garagistic longer/shorter DSSR for this application. Have you guys fit one of these to an F10 or similar? Thoughts or advice on fitment?

      No with the supreme you will not need to do that. You can use with factory motor and transmission bushing.

    I have replaced the selector joint on my late model e30, but there is still a large amount of play. Could I have installed it wrong, or could there be a problem with something in my transmission?

    I installed the short shifter about a year back and it’s always been making a shaking noise at some point in the rpms, thought it was the screws but I recently put electrical tape on the thread and the shaking hasn’t stopped, any guess on what it could be?

    • @garagistic
      @garagistic  Год назад

      Did you check set screws at the bottom as well? Are you running the black delrin washers in between the dssr pin?

    And i also know that ur shifters come with many ways to make it comfortable to ur liking but my question is.... If I bought it with the oem length shaft and customized the throw and length adjustment would i be able to make it comfortable for dailying

  • @blakegaumer6188
    @blakegaumer6188 2 года назад

    Quick question, just got a selector joint, dssr, and supreme s.shifter and in neutral it has a pretty hard lean towards the right , any word what could cause this ? On a BMW z3.. fifth gear is touching the far right side of the trim want to know if there's something I can do to put it back to center

    • @garagistic
      @garagistic  2 года назад +1

      A common culprit for the lean to the right would be worn-out detent pins in your transmission. It's the detent pin's job to recenter the shifter, which could also help with the fifth gear touching your trim but we would also recommend adjusting the bottom of the supreme shifter to shorten your throw. Ive installed this without dssr and shifter is a bit more towards top right making 5th gear hit the side just alittle, not a big deal but 5th gear is kinda annoying. Will a dssr fix this?

    Im considering putting in your short shifter into my e28 when i do the manual swap. I want the performance but i also want the comfort for daily driving. If I bought the short shifter with the oem length shaft would it still be comfortable to shift and easy to change gears or would it be to short and id need to use more effort to shift gears?
