Your eyes were not deceiving you. I could automatically see the difference when you started using the brush. It definitely looks better with the brush. And I am sold! Like you I don’t mind paying premium prices if I get a premium product. This one looks fabulous on you and being a dry winter/ normal summer skin person I have to try this one out. I clicked through your link so fast my Sephora card is Smokin!!
So good to see you finally have a good experience with an expensive foundation! That last big price tag foundation was so disappointing! This made up for it and then some! YAY!!!
I've never understood using filters in reviews. The whole point is to see how the product performs. I have no vested interest in the outcome - I think of reviews as sort of documentary. I wear it, take you with me, and we see what it does together. I think some creators get wrapped up in brand loyalty or think that if one product is bad and they say that, they're trashing the whole brand. But I've been in art and design critiques all my life and one thing we have to understand in that world is that the result of one piece of work doesn't define us - it just defines that one piece of work (good or bad!). So that mentality is how I approach reviews. I may love a brand (and my loyalty likely makes me buy more products from that brand than others), but if a product from that brand doesn't work for me, oh well. It doesn't change my opinion of the brand unless a whole lot of products don't work for me - at which point they may no longer be a favorite 😂
Hi Shelley I'm glad you love it after spending the money, but the shade range isn't that great at the paler end of the spectrum and my skin hates foundation with a high amount of alcohol - super dry skin with rosacea and eczema (this is why the Dior glow looked terrible after a half hour). I went foundation shopping a couple of weeks ago - swatched over 30 foundations and came back with several samples. Of them all I like the Givenchy glow the best (the Tom Ford luminous £100 foundation disappeared within three hours on me, so that's terrible performance for such a high price). The shade isn't an exact match due to the neutral undertone and me being cool toned, but it is a decent match and it's really pretty on dry skin. Best wishes.
Holy cow I love it!!!! Really great seeing you put the Guerlain to the test. It really is a luminous matte finish. I prefer the brush application. I am with you to on if a product that is high end produces great results, it is worth the purchase price. Loved loved loved this episode.
Omg I’ve been binge-watching your videos these last few days! I’ve been obsessed over foundation lately and your videos help me a looottt ❤❤. I reaaaalllyy want to see all of your foundation collection…I need to live vicariously through you 😌
Speaking of moisturizer caked in your eyebrows..... don't you hate it when you realize you've gone all day with mascara running, lipstick smudged, glitter fall out all over your face or some type of mishap with makeup or skincare, and not one person at work cared to tell you?!?! UGH!!! 😣 Yep- that's happened to me quite a few times!
It's the worst!! That's why I always carry a compact with me wherever I go and regularly check my makeup to make sure there's no mascara or anything smearing on my face! 😉
Gorgeous! You *and* the foundation, just gorgeous! (Should go without saying that Ziva is always gorgeous.) I'm picturing their development and PR staff getting together to name the product, "Oh, yah, that sounds good!" "It needs rounding-out, though, let's add to it." "Maybe just one or two more descriptive words, eh?" "I dunno, still seems like too short a name to me." The price-point is not in my current budget, so I'll just enjoy it vicariously through your excellent video, thank you!
You should rename your program; It's a Foundation FRENZY! And Ziva is purring cuz she just can't wait to shed fur onto your freshly applied makeup! If you're a hot mess - she is the reason! Love the video, thank you for allowing me to live vicariously through your expensive experiences!
I've never bought anything so fast after watching this review. Wow! I'm a big Guerlain fan but only own fragrances, never tried any of the makeup. Can't wait to get it!
You Cracked me up! Are my eyes deceiving me! This review was AWESOME!! I have been watching ur reviews for Years! And I'm also A CAT WOMAN! 😻 Anyway, this was a great review. I'm getting this foundation ASAP! 🙏
Well I did it. I watched you last night and I bought it this morning, I also love/hate when an expensive makeup looks great, it happened to me with the Tom Ford. That was around Christmas time and my family gave me gift cards because they noticed how good my makeup looked without prompting. This was all in the same day that i used the little sample, and when I say my family i mean my two sons who don't notice sh@t and my sister who never touches make up., All said " your makeup looks good today" not me, my makeup 🤷🏼♀️ You loved that one too, so yep I bought it.
That was the most surprising part of this foundation for me - usually brands hype up things like that, and so I was not expecting the SMOOOOOOOOTH! (Definitely not complaining!) lol
Thanks for the review Shelly….I’ll pass on this one. Can’t believe at this price point that Alcohol is the 3rd ingredient. 😮 Not on my dry, 63 yo skin.
Very nice foundation and look you created! Have you ever tried Bobbi Brown Skin SPF 15 foundation? I hear it similar to Guerlain foundation! Thank you for the video 💕
There is one Bobbi Brown that I absolutely love and the name is escaping me so I'm thinking it isn't the Skin one (and I think I've only tried the one).
"I hate when I love expensive things." Same! I wish I could find 100% satisfaction with all drugstore makeup. But then some of that's not that cheap either! This seems like a great foundation, will have to consider visiting the dept store to check it out.
Man. I saw your video pop up, and I was like “YES! Finally the Blunder Cover!” But….no. 😂 Oh well. I enjoy all of your reviews, so still happy. Also, not sure if it’s on your radar, but the new Rituel de Fille 3 drops foundation is getting good reviews and sounds like something you might like. I ordered it already and am just waiting for delivery. I’ll let you know what I think. Edit: Just finished the video and….GREAT. Now I have to go buy this expensive foundation too. 😂 It’s beautiful
Omg what a beautiful foundation!! I’ve wanted this so badly but I had to wait for your review, as its so fricken expensive but I really thought it had to be good!! I’m off to Sephora lol You look amazing!! One of my favourite on you!! Cheers and love from Canada 🇨🇦

Definitely get yourself a back up when you can because it’s worth every penny.🥰
@@goow no it’s not terrible. I do the same thing….. I think we all do. It is understandable that brands/manufacturers would have this expiration date because it increases more sales. I have eyeshadow pallets from a decade ago that I still dig out once in a while. So, I hear you girlfriend … If it doesn’t look weird or separating as far as liquid products …she’s a keeper😃
I think I need this foundation in my life! And I’m thinking the same shade. I was worried about it being too pink but it doesn’t seem so. You still enjoying this 1?
Well, today I tested the Guerlain Terracotta Le Teint in C2 because I've only seen and heard good things about it. Unfortunately, it dries out my skin a little and I have a rather unpleasant feeling when wearing it. But you have to know that I have very dry, sensitive skin with rosacea, which is of course a particular problem. I thought I would share my experience for those who also have to deal with such skin problems. Apart from that, I would need C1 ;-) I am happy with the Hourglass Veil Hydrating Skin Tint :-) Best regards, Maria
Thank you for sharing! I definitely suspect that high fragrance content (which can bother noses but it can also irritate skin unfortunately). I wish companies stopped putting fragrance in complexion products. I know things smell bland without fragrance but the risk of irritation is higher :(
Does the ‘cream to powder’ make it look dry In forehead wrinkles? I’ve been do super dry, I’m afraid even that small amount of powder will look horrible on my dry skin… I know you mentioned it and lots of ppl just wait a bit until their natural oils kind of meld everything together…. I don’t have any 😂😂😂 THANK YOU… Guerlain make such amazing perfumes… if this wouldn’t work for me, I still adore them 😂😂😂♥️♥️💋💋
No setting spray! I generally only use setting spray if the foundation is a disaster and I'm trying to salvage a review (and I'll stay that in the segment when I come back with makeup on). It's rare!
You look beauteous! Will this replace the Nars foundation at the top? Everything I’ve ever tried from Guerlain, I’ve loved. The pastel meteorite pearls are such a nice powder product. Dare I ask if you’re bringing this to Ireland? I’d say yes! By the way, I really like Shiseido as a brand and other than their great radiant lifting foundation, I never hear anyone talking about it. If you have the products, how about a full face of Shiseido? Anywho, my love to Ziva and co. Please give them hugs and kisses from me! ❤🐈⬛🐾🐾
Hi Shelly, I just discovered another concealer 😣 that I’m Hoping u can do a review of. It doesn’t look like it’s available here in Canada yet (of course) It’s the Natasha Denona Hy-Glam concealer
Ok Shelly, it’s time… you’ve never reviewed any Bourjois Paris foundations! I’d love to see you try both the Healthy Mix foundation and the Healthy Mix BB cream.
In this case I think 2 is allowable since they're different finishes and levels of coverage, and that's how I choose what I'm wearing each day! LOL but really it would be terribly hard. I wear a more dewy finish more often which would mean the Nars wins out, but the Guerlain is so pretty that I can see it single-handedly shifting my finish preference!
I am watching this one year later because I just saw Risa’s video she just posted. Don’t get me wrong I also love Risa but to be 💯 I really only trust your opinion. I’m thinking about getting this foundation and I’m just wondering if you’re still in love with this foundation? Have your thoughts changed? I’m so tempted to buy it based on your review 😍😍😍 also it looks stunning on your skin ❤
100% still love it. The only thing I can add since this went up is that the new Polite Society is ALMOST as smoothing (not quite but very close) without the strong fragrance. But if fragrance doesn't bother you, Terracotta is literally the most smoothing foundation I've ever tried. I wear it A LOT!
@@goow I ended up buying it a few days ago and I LOVE IT 🥰. Thank you for all of your reviews 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻 There isn’t a product I’ve bought from your recommendations that I regret.
Hi Kara! I had great luck with the YSL Luminous Matte as well! I'd say it's a tiny bit more matte than the Guerlain as far as the finish goes, but scored a 99 so equally excellent :) ruclips.net/video/lzccm8fybzs/видео.html
@@goow does it have the same coverage with ysl luminous matte? Which is smoother, more perfecting and long wearing? Sorry I need something for the hd camera ♥️
I had terrible luck with the Catrice Hydrating Foundation (one of the rare foundations that scored a zero in my review, and I tested it half a dozen times after that to try to make it work!) so the Guerlain scored 100 and the Catrice scored a zero 😂 the Catrice is incredibly dry and heavy on me. The Guerlain is one of the smoothest, softest finishes I've ever seen in a foundation. Here's my Catrice review from back in the day - ruclips.net/video/--Y_sub7amk/видео.html
I love the formula of this foundation, but OMG it oxidised something awful on me. Went VERY orange. The shade was absolutely perfect when first applied. I am shade 0N, so can't buy down a shade :(
If you wear sunscreen under your foundations, try switching to a different one - might be a last-ditch try but more than once, my oxidation issues have resolved after switching sunscreens. I've never been able to pin down which ingredients didn't like each other, but it's usually a chemical sunscreen causing the issue for me. It's not always a fix but worth a shot!!
Lady! You are dangerous to watch! LOL! I just got the chance to view this & this is the kind of almost one & done foundation I've been looking for, for summer. Coverage, lasting & I don't have to powder. So, as soon as this vid finished, I ordered it on Sephora. I had some points for a discount.
Why did you choose the 2C, cooler version? Normally you go for the neutral base? Because of the pinkisch undertone? This I ask because we are color twins and really like to buy this beauty❤❤❤
I usually try to go by the swatch photos (since my nearby Sephora closed and now the closest one is over an hour away) :( I look for what looks most similar to the ELDW 1C1 Cool Bone, which usually gets me close to a match. My undertone reads neutral most of the year and a tiny bit cool in the winter, though I prefer a smidge cool. When I'm buying heading into summer like now, I'll lean more neutral since I do tend to get a little sun on my arms in the summer (a half shade maybe), but my undertone is more neutral when I have a little sun. But I'm spending summer in Ireland this year so I probably won't get much sun, so I'll stay a smidge cool. In this case I thought the neutrals were pulling a little yellow/warm and I don't like that look on me.
@@goow Thank you so much for your very clarifying answer. I don't like too much yellow either. It makes my face very mask-like and scary, hihi. Now I know which is the best shade for me, the 2C! Have a nice holiday in Ireland and stay strong! love❤ from the Netherlands, Gonnie
@@heddaszczepanski9210Are you the same shade as Shelly? I also have a bit of warmth in my skin but the neutral suits me best. Because it is warm. In the mean time have I bought the shade 2C and it is very nice neutral. I have to mix it with a lighter color because my face isn't dark enough. The next lighter color would be to light I think. One drop is just enough and it is perfect!
@@GonnieAnneveld thank you so much for your info. I think I am warmer than shelly. I have a lot of red in my hair and I look better in brighter colours than muted colours. I find it so difficult to find the right foundation colour😱 tjere are so many to choose from. It sounds like your suggestion of neutral might be good for my colouring. I agree its easy to look too orange❤️
I can't remember but if I did not list it, probably not, because I take down notes on everything I wore when I finish my makeup and use that when I'm editing to make the description box lists. Gosh I love this foundation! 🤣 Still a favorite.
Hello, I get no healthy glow from it, it is more a mat finish, I sent it back to Sephora..whenever they describe a foundation as long wearing, it is rarely dewy or moisturizing.. Take good care
I’m in the process of overhauling the foundation list so my newer reviews haven’t been added - but they will be in the updated version (hopefully I’ll get it finished over winter break!)
@@heddaszczepanski9210 I just got the 1C shade, it's not too bad . I don't know about the warmer shades but apparently the Neutrals lean very yellow as well.
I’m with you. Fragrance has no place in makeup/foundation. I would not buy this for that reason. That and the after market animal testing. Otherwise it looks great. Hi to Ziva? ❤
What is it about these high end brands making their foundations smell like perfume!? When I bought the Chanel healthy glow foundation (which incidentally has almost the exact same name as this Guerlain one) and I could not believe how heavily fragranced it was! I am not a fan of that! I don't need a fragrance in my makeup and especially not something that strong! Putting in heavy fragrance definitely doesn't make the foundation feel more expensive.
The high end ones all seem to have a "signature scent" and for some reason they all seem to make it WAY stronger than any other scents in less expensive products. I don't get it either.
Bummer :( This has become probably my number 1 favorite foundation (it's between this and Nars Light Reflecting, and this one is so smoothing on me that I think it has finally won... I wore it yesterday for an all-day event where I was sweating tearing down a display booth and it held up great).
Shelly, you should make a video of your best foundations either high end or low cost, only the ones with grade A or A+

I love and appreciate how honest and educating your reviews are, no filters no games which is what we need in reviews otherwise what's the point?
I've never understood using filters in reviews. The whole point is to see how the product performs. I have no vested interest in the outcome - I think of reviews as sort of documentary.
Apart from that, I would need C1 ;-)
I am happy with the Hourglass Veil Hydrating Skin Tint :-)
Best regards,
Maria
Thank you for sharing! I definitely suspect that high fragrance content (which can bother noses but it can also irritate skin unfortunately). I wish companies stopped putting fragrance in complexion products. I know things smell bland without fragrance but the risk of irritation is higher :(
Does the ‘cream to powder’ make it look dry In forehead wrinkles? I’ve been do super dry, I’m afraid even that small amount of powder will look horrible on my dry skin…
I know you mentioned it and lots of ppl just wait a bit until their natural oils kind of meld everything together…. I don’t have any 😂😂😂 THANK YOU… Guerlain make such amazing perfumes… if this wouldn’t work for me, I still adore them 😂😂😂♥️♥️💋💋
It didn't even cling to my flakes! There's some magic going on in this finish. I wore it a week straight to work because I was flat out mesmerized 😂
Shelly, if you had to choose between the Nars Light Reflecting foundation and this Guerlain one, which one would you choose? You are allowed only one!
Better than nars light reflecting???
I'm going to call them a tie!! The only foundations I've ever scored 100. (I still need to update the foundation spreadsheet - it will be added!)
Looks amazing! Just what I want but it's $72 CDN!😿 Did you use a setting spray?
I'm thinking the Nars and Guerlain will now live at the top of my list as a tie!
Hi Shelly,
I just discovered another concealer 😣 that I’m
Hoping u can do a review of.
It doesn’t look like it’s available here in Canada yet (of course)
It’s the Natasha Denona Hy-Glam concealer
Are you psychic, Janet? 😂 I just filmed it - should post next week!! (It's good!!)
@@goow thanks! Would u say the Fiera concealer is in your top 5? I saw the video,
Just wondering where it falls
Ok Shelly, it’s time… you’ve never reviewed any Bourjois Paris foundations! I’d love to see you try both the Healthy Mix foundation and the Healthy Mix BB cream.
I feel like at one point I was on a mission to find that brand in Ireland! I may have to make it my mission again :)
Brilliant review as always thanks. I'm asking Santa for this
Hey Shelley! Will you be reviewing the reformulated Dior face and body? That has always been my summer foundation and now I’m scared. Lol
Oooh I'll have to grab it! I don't worry as much about a Dior reformulation - they're dang good at their formulas. 😀
@@goow I ordered and it should be here tomorrow. Fingers crossed it’s the same or better!
Shelly, if you had to choose between the Nars Light Reflecting foundation and this Guerlain one, which one would you choose? Only one allowed!
Loved this episode! I wish you didn’t like it so much too, because I’m thinking I probably will. Ouch on the $$
I am watching this one year later because I just saw Risa’s video she just posted.
Hi Shelly, do you think this foundation would cover dark sunspots and blemishes? Or at least diminish them?
Yep I think so - It's a solid medium-plus coverage.
Have you tried the Ysl Luminous Matte? How does it compare? Thank you 😊
How would you compare this finish with the Catrice Hydrating Foundation?
@Geek Out of Water I don't wear sunscreen. I've tried with and without primers etc
Lady! You are dangerous to watch! LOL! I just got the chance to view this & this is the kind of almost one & done foundation I've been looking for, for summer. Coverage, lasting & I don't have to powder. So, as soon as this vid finished, I ordered it on Sephora. I had some points for a discount.
Yes, if they test in China they are truly NOT cruelty free…😢. Yayyyyy for not putting fragrance in face products.
You look lovely 💜
WOW!
Why did I get excited for you lol..Its a good feeling when you cant trust your eyes that the result exceeds your expectations lol
I have a medium warm colour, would you suggest going for neutral in Guerlain??
So did you end up using concealer here? You forgot to mention, and it's not listed below.
I tried to find this on your web page and it didnt come up.
I’m in the process of overhauling the foundation list so my newer reviews haven’t been added - but they will be in the updated version (hopefully I’ll get it finished over winter break!)
A lot of people are saying that the cool toned shades are very warm and peachy? And the colors run very dark as well??
That is what I was wondering, but my skin is warm
@@heddaszczepanski9210 I just got the 1C shade, it's not too bad . I don't know about the warmer shades but apparently the Neutrals lean very yellow as well.
❤️❤️❤️
Where does it rank on "The List"?! 🎉😊
I need to update the spreadsheet but it is going to tie the Nars as the only other foundation to score 100!
Mine looked dry & crumbly, & wore off a lot ...I did wear it for 12hours... but didnt love it like I thought I would.
Bummer :( This has become probably my number 1 favorite foundation (it's between this and Nars Light Reflecting, and this one is so smoothing on me that I think it has finally won... I wore it yesterday for an all-day event where I was sweating tearing down a display booth and it held up great).
I'll try a different base & hopefully have the same experience!
When you mentioned it had a fragrance (even slight) I wanted to throw my phone across the room 😭
I wish companies would stop with all the fragrance :(
Ziva je úžasná 😂
Ziva vždy dostane svých 5 minut slávy!
🤍🤍🤍
Looks the same at night as when you put it on.
