      now if they can add in grand cathay as a faction in the game then it will be glorious. cause we can travel the whole silk road there and be certified bad asses for taking on what ever is in the way over there though making it safe enough to ensure that more then a ratio of 1:10 success rate in overland travel might be a hard thing. better to do it by sea if possible.

      The war of the three emperors was likely inspired by a point in the catholic church's history in which there was a dispute between the next pope would be eventually ending up with a 3-way tug of war. I can't remember who won exactly

      LOL A sikh race should be in warhammers, they are one of the greatest warrior races present on earth today. Wielding their swords and kirpan the dagger, preaching good deeds and humanity. Fighting muslims all their history who tried to forcefully convert masses in the south east. Be a muslim, or face beaheading. They ended this monstrosity and thats why we have Hindus or all the hindus would have converted to muslims in the south east.

      camel was used to frighten horses and elephants , yes it was slower so it was not that effective against infantry , that why it was never used as shock cavalry .

    • @1YCARADOFACAO
      @1YCARADOFACAO 7 лет назад +2

      Camels are as fast as horses, and there was no shock camal cavalry because there was no shock cavalry culture around areas that tame camels. Their biggest advantages were to kill horses, because they are bigger and they scare horses (horses are skittish) and against elephants because camels are big and the riders could easily reach the elephant riders and eyes.
      I think that could be two variants of camels, a light one, super early, cause fear, bonus vs large, no desert attrition and a heavy one, late, but not as elite as elephants, cause fear, armored and meelee cavalry with bonus against large, with a campaign bonus against desert attrition for the army

      PoorManatee 6197 Old Worlders are superstitious. And in a world where daemons, witches, and cults are real threats, I can see them freaking out a bit at the sight of camels if they don't know about them.
      Duke: "By the Lady, what's wrong with their horses?!"
      Knight: "They must be mutants or daemons. Look at the deformed body; that hideous hump, the long neck, that awful color-"

      I've just started playing the Warhammer 2 OVN Lost Factions mod and the Flying Carpets are actually kinda OP. Their cycle charge is devastating and the quite unique animation gets them out of combat really quickly to avoid taking damage. I like to make balanced roleplay armies but they are definitely Doomstack candidates if you're that way inclined.

    I really hope that Araby does make it into one of the Total Warhammer games... or at the very least someone does a total faction conversion mod like what has been done with the Chaos Dwarfs and Tomb Kings etc. I love the Araby lore and army lists and stuff... it's all so unique like many of the other factions in the Warhammer Fantasy setting are and they'd play so different from the other Human Warhammer factions as well.

    I think a better feature for total war games to use when armies are fighting in extreme conditions, such as extreme heat or cold, rather than just having attrition they should have debuffs for soldiers who are not used to such conditions, such as lower stamina and leadership. Units that are used to such conditions would be more immune to it, and units that fight several battles in such conditions can perhaps become more resilient to it. I think this coupled with the traditional attrition mechanics would make it more interesting when fighting for example in Araby, so that Arabian horse archers may be less powerful than other units but immune to these debuffs, so in certain conditions they are much more powerful.

    • @navilluscire2567
      @navilluscire2567 3 года назад +1

      Late, SUPER late reply but...
      I've always liked that idea, I think I'd go a long way of helping to both balance the game and at tge same time diversify units for each faction without things getting too overpowered.
      Plus I could imagine a sort of adaptation mechanic and conditioning system for armies in unfamiliar environments they aren't well equipped or trained to deal with like say "Arabyian" mercanaeires are not used to the cold of kislev but are amazing at fighting of hordes charging Norscan warriors and have pretty quick cacalry for easy flanking of enemy lines, so in order to take advantage of such bonuses they have to both be supplied warmer clothing for the frigid weather and spend time getting accustomed to it (as best they can), both of these things would run up costs and training time for certain units to better useable but are made worth it by the tactical flexibility they offer and tipping power they can bring to certain battles.

  • @icyburger

    The araby faction does not need fancy shields and retartedly heavy armour to win battles. All they need is their scimitar and their devotion to their faith to defeat their enemies.

    Camel riders are very easy to make diffrent from horsemen: NO TIRING DURING BATTLE!
    The army of Araby could very well be an army of durable cavalry. Lots of HP and slow tiring but not exeptionally fast. Would make them diffrent from other mostly cavalry races, like Kislev which puts the emphasis more on skirmishing rather than outlasing in melee.

    • @abmong
      @abmong 7 лет назад +1

      Interesting but it maybe a little bit OP... maybe just given them better stamina rather than just make them forever "fresh". Real world camels are nearly as fast as horses and has more stamina, so a camel would win in a marathon, horse would win in a short sprint.
      They could also add "desert sands" as a new terrain type that slows and tires out troops/horses much like forests currently does but make camels immuned.

    • @karolkwiecjasz9356
      @karolkwiecjasz9356 7 лет назад +2

      abong look at that this way: Araby would have normal horse cavalry as their main one but the camels would be the higher tier cavalry. And they wouldn't be infinately fresh, just resist tireing up for a longer duration.
      And for a good reason: Those camel riders are supposed to stay competetive against Kinghts, so having the camels suited for outlansting and outtactic something that has considerably more armour and damage is reasonable.

      perhaps some giant scorpions (like the ones from the film clash of titans) or the. ..... motherfucking historical : Mushussu / Sirrush a great dragon from Babylonian mythology (you know the ishtar gate on babylon).
      a scaly dragon with hind legs resembling the talons of an eagle, feline forelegs, a long neck and tail, a horned head, a snake-like tongue, and a crest.

    Araby must be in the game if you think about it enough. If they implement the tombkings(which they definetly will) there would be a huge gap inmidst of the southlands. They are prettymuch bound to be in there unless CA devides to give all the southern desert realms to the TK.

  • @danielkorladis7869
    @danielkorladis7869 7 лет назад +6

    In Attila, camel units cause fear in regular horse cavalry, if I recall correctly. They also have higher mass, so get a pretty nasty charge, if I'm remembering right.
    Al Muktar and Ahmed Shufti could be a two-entity legendary lord unit (like Skarsnik and Gobla). Or three, if you include Ibben, the blind bannerman.

    • @ahmadzahidgani9140
      @ahmadzahidgani9140 7 лет назад

      probably slower cavalry + less charge bonus but get bigger HP + Resistant to fatigue. not too sure about about bonus against horse probably just minor debuff for horse so they less effective if going 1 v 1 against camel. the camel rider can fills role as optional meatshield cavarly for araby (unlocked via alt tech tree) and can be used to fill role as backbone of their cavalry unit.
      Assuming araby infantry are so-so and they known for focused on light cavalry. their knight/mamluke and elephant accessible as high-tier limited/expensive unit which leave a wide gap from their early light cavalry unit.

      It's a shame that Warhammer Fantasy was shelved in favor of a reboot when there were several potential factions that GW could have expanded into. I would have loved to see some of the peripheral factions fleshed out. Araby in particular I feel could have really benefited from a lore revamp, getting rid of all that colonial nonsense and coming up with some more creative names and so on.

      catoblepasomega They really could have built up on the connection with Zlatan and the Lizardmen cities in the Southlands. They're pretty much the only ones to have ever seen the inside of a Lizardmen city, quite possibly the only humans (besides maybe Amazons) who have even a slight understanding of how the Lizardmen think. So maybe they could have had some Lizardmen influences and vice versa. So Southlands Lizardmen would be a little more concerned with how the Great Plan affects other life forms because they've gotten to know the people of Araby. Or maybe they could have worked together at times, the wizards/sorcerers of Araby having learned how to imprison and enslave djinn from the Slann and those same wizards/sorcerers informed the Slann of what was going on in Nekahara, and the two working together being the only things keeping the Tomb Kings from over running the Southlands. Or the two cooperating against the Skaven because they both hate the damn Skaven.

    If they have the Djin in the game, they'll have to have them say "Phenomenal cosmic power!" when they use their magic, or when you select them.
    But I think the Guard should be changed out for a Janissary unit that should come in two varieties. A musket and sword and shield versions.
    I think that if they also added in a system of choosing between more city or nomadic troops.

    Isnt Muktar just the Lawrence of the Warhammer World? Yes, its an old trope to make the white the best in something some other culture invented.... But Araby was never in the focus and many texts are written from imperial point of view.... They could have flashed out Araby more and you could do more wirh it today. But the Warhammer World is done. And there was still so much shit to explore. I would love to see Gotrek and Felix in Araby or hear more about it in the End Times. But every human nation without much lore or own army book was just overrun by Skaven. That's the lame thing. The world building wasn't finished in the end. There was still so much to do. Makes me sad. When I was a child Warhammer books made me a reader.

    I know I'm coming to the video years late, but as I didn't see another comment to this effect, I thought you might find it fun to hear that the switch from Allah to Ormazd was not exactly a moment of greater creativity on GW's part: Ormazd is a rendering of Ahura Mazda, the chief god and embodiment of goodness, spirituality, and fire in ancient Persian Zoroastrian religion. Same old GW, am I right?

    Lol, all this whining about an "SJW hat" all stemming from _one_ segment *an hour into the video* when he semi-facetiously mentions a "social justice warrior hat" just to point out not even his, but _CA's_ possible concern over a legitimate overplayed "white savior" trope. The entire rest of the video he was expressing eagerness over all the other silly, stereotypical units and tropes, and _one_ mention of SJW and people are acting like he was calling for witch elves to cover up. Crimany, it's times like this that show how hypocritical ani-SJW's often are; they have such little self awareness.

      Now my knowledge of the lore isn't top notch, but I think the ban on "crossbows" that Bretonnia uses to ban firearms only applies in Bretonnia itself (that's why their navy has guns)... so would an errantry war into Arabia have access to cannons and rifles? After all, GW did release bretonnian models for them.
      Or, as an interesting way to modify the gameplay midgame, you could unlock gun powder only when Bretonnian unification is complete... I would be totally down for that v(⌒o⌒)v

    Dam, I would really have loved to play this faction in Warhammer2, but knowing how lazy CA is with minor factions it will probably won't even see the light of day.
    All CA did was put vampire counts and Bretonnian factions where Araby is suppose to be.

    • @Canadish
      @Canadish 4 года назад +1

      It's a big undertaking as they'd need to more or less build the faction wholesale. They knocked it out the park with Vampire Coast though, so I could see them having the confidence to try it now.

    • @SilvioSalieri
      @SilvioSalieri 4 года назад

      @@Canadish I agree that they have the confidence and I love the vampire coast factions.
      But don't you think with the way Araby looks in terms of units, lords and general lore they might be afraid of offending people ?
      Beside all the work that would go into making a new faction and balancing it, what else would hold be holding them back ?

    • @Canadish
      @Canadish 4 года назад +1

      @@SilvioSalieri I can guarantee that's an issue that's giving them pause. They're a UK company so there is the risk someone makes a hate speech allegation and people face fines/jail time (I fucking hate this country sometimes...)
      I don't mind some obvious rewrites (using Allah is just lazy, nevermind any offence caused a moment) but Warhammer always boils down the cultures that inspired it into exaggerated archetypes and over the top examples (and always shows the worst of them). I think its why GW has avoided it entirely for the most part and just nukes the setting.
      It's sad, Arabian Nights and inspiration from the Islamic Golden Age could make something over the top and cool.
