Well, chronologically, I'm pretty sure they still join a group of pirates, get stranded on the Canaan Islands, and travel to Altago before Ys IX, so... Yeah, they went through some stuff. ^^
I remember hearing this is chronologically the last game in the series so far so...YES! Adol is a smidge oldish here! I hear he finally gets some recognition for all his adventures too. Yeah... I think the way they handled recovery items in the new titles kinda screws up the challenge. Bosses can be a bit of a damage sponge on the higher difficulties, and they do hit pretty hard, so trying to complete the game without recovery items can be quite frustrating. But if you do use items, well... Since you can carry basically unlimited items in Celceta and Ys 8, there is no cooldown, and you can consume as many items as you want from a pause menu with zero risks, they are kind of overpowered, and can trivialize the difficulty. Otherwise, the full 3D Ys games are all fantastic. The soundtracks in Ys 8 and Ys 7, in particular, stand out as some of the best in the series.

These games seem very mediocre to me. Most positive reviews are by people who are already fans of the series, so I'm not sure what to think.
You can try picking up 8 on sale in the future if you haven't tried it yet, combat is similar to what's here in 9. If you find yourself not enjoying it at all, then you probably wouldn't like it in 9 either. 8 is more newcomer friendly as its narrative is more self contained, so I personally recommend trying that first over 9.
I’d say try out Ys 8 if you’re skeptical. I was super impressed when I played it despite thinking it was overhyped beforehand
The thing with ys is that the series is divided by three different gameplay styles so if you don't like one of then you can try another, i suggest checking out the top down view games
Ys 8 is one of the best JRPGs ever made. Give it a shop, you won´t regret it.
Most diehard fans are not going to like this game myself included no anime cutscenes is like ripping the heart and soul out of the series
Why would PS5 perform better than PS4 on a PS3 level game?
Gotttum
I liked ys viii but God it was repetitive as crap.
Sooo much action
You guys want to hear a joke?
Yea
@@NoisyPixelNews Have you heard the one about how Adol Christin gave Reah and Feena an Ys infection?
No lol
@@NoisyPixelNews Neither does Adol, he forgot. 😉
This is a ps4 game but it looks like a ps2 game?
You seem to not remember correctly what PS2 games looked like.
I like ys, but man the graphics of the city are really bland. Looks empty. I'll Wait for a sale.
And they can't even release CS4 on PC/Switch yet. I have bought all of their games from Zwei to Sky to untranslated Crossbell games, but not anymore. These Sony nuthuggers shills do not deserve my money, will pirate their games going forward
CS4 on switch releases this April.
Also the playstation versions are the og versions. The switch/pc versions are ports, which can take 2-6+ months in addition to localizing the game.
I am buying everything switch now including this.
You do realise that Sony have the OG versions, right? Plus, the Crossbell games have translations set for next year and 2023
Usually I rate yours reviews quite highly but this score seems over inflated for an average hack n slash with a generic story made on a show string budget
Closer to an 7.5 for me
It just doesn't look as fun as Ys VIII
