As if it should've been expected that he'd cheat since he wasn't getting what he wanted; children. well since the side women is pregnant and based on the wife's reaction when they said that one of them has fertility issues, it was obviously the wife that couldn't get pregnant!!
They wanted to make it realistic since in most cases people simply blame that the wife is infertile if the couple cannot get have a child especially in Asia more than 99% time unless they do the testing which is very rare.
I can totally relate to this My aunt who's now in her 50s has had the same story of having difficulty getting pregnant, till eventually she couldn't ever get pregnant and now she will probably live a childless life forever Her only option is to have a foster child My point is looking at the scene where Jamie is crying about not being able to give birth in a flashback, makes me feel sad for my aunt.
