Great video. Ironically, I just purchased a 5 roll Rollei film sampler from JCH. I did not realize it was so easy to do color. I have been limiting myself to df96 mono. Now it is time to play with the big boys. Thank you for your simple, yet classy presentation.
Sweet! I’ve used my LabBox and Cinestill Df96 to develop black and white film but have been reluctant to use the LabBox to develop color film. You’ve made it look super easy and given me the confidence to give it a shot. Thanks! 🤙🏼
Great video - I am gobsmacked by your results, especially since you don´t seem to do anything to maintain the temperature during the developing process - the chems must loose temperature from 39 degrees C during the developing time in the lab box. I have always thought that even minor temperature variations from the ideal temperature would give you horrible colorshifts etc. I use the Cinestill C41 liquid kit for developing color films, and have the chemicals in my steel Nikor drums submersed in the water, when not agitating, for fear of loosing temperature - yet my results still seem to be sketchy ! I have the Lab Box for 120 film but have only used it for B/W film since they are not so temperature dependent (or so I thought) - but have I totally misunderstood the thing about the temperature dependence of color film ?? I am tempted to try your method for my next color film, just to see what happens - perhaps I have been overcomplicating the process !!
I bet the process scenes are staged. I've always tried to be quite precise and consistent with fill-in/fill-out dev & blix times, specially when I printed RA4 -then it was essential for me to keep the film base consistent from roll to roll, otherwise I'd spend hours working a print with multiple exposures and different filtration; God bless Adobe & Epson! Now that I've gone hybrid I let VueScan and Adobe Camera Raw take care of the color balance.
Hi Bellamy, had an analog photography break for more than 3 years but happy to see you around. :) Thank you very much for the content. Can you tell me where I can get that sling? Best Regards from Berlin.
@04:01 😊. Thirty plus year ago my parents were Mister Donut franchisees with multiple locations here in Florida. I’m hoping when I’m in for the games to get to a shop for some swag. In my youth I’ve made enough doughnuts on the midnight shift I probably won’t want another. Unfortunately we’re not allowed to extend our stays past our work assignments. Hopefully I’ll see a day off to get into the city and maybe stop in your place too... fingers crossed 🤞
one suggestion, have you tried the Ilford Simplicity line of chemistry, as for beginners, these two would match up perfectly, the simplicity is a set of liquid chemistry, in child yoghurt containers, all you do is add water, and in they go! esp for young people, NO safety hazzards of scissors in the dark, due to the in-built 35 film cutter, nice and safe!!, also you don't have to label the containers, as two of the sachets are single shot, the 'wetting agent' is multi-use (from ilfords site, only need a couple of cap fulls); no need to mix powders, and risk splashing from multiple contacts with raw undiluted chemistry, all the hard chemistry stuff is done, just like making cordial, add solution to water, then in the lab box!
hello , like your video and web site . picture in front of grandma mma daughter is amazing well done ! can you comment about the color rendition : looks like photos are too much " purple " , is it due to the Fuji film or to the Cinestill C41 chemical ?
I'm always so impressed to see that brassing on your beautiful Leica MP-6. Nice to see the camera being used as intended rather than stored away! Great vid
Great video, really enjoyable to watch and funny. Looking forward to seeing more. I'm thinking now to maybe explain more of what I like about my photos too because it made it more interesting to hear what you like about yours. 👍📸
Great job, Bellamy! Recently I got into large format and developing with a jobo processor, so I will give the cinestill (starting with Df96) a go. And nice new digs!
Very enjoyable video! You had to flaunt that Fuji 400H, didn't you? :) And here we thought you were a monk/hermit living only for fine cameras, and it turns out you have a family and children. Good on ya' mate!
I noticed there wasn’t a stabiliser stage after the Blix. Have you had any issues and I thought the stabiliser was for preserving colours over a long period of time?
I've got the C41 chems from Cinestill and their Df96 B&W kit as well. Luckily, I can buy the kits here in Oz. They've also just released an ECN 2 kit as well. I like that shot in front of "grandma mama daughter" as well. Find out who that lady was and how to contact her, then get her to come back to the store to walk in front of it, again. She could be your "store muse" :D :P :P
Quaint and lovely photos Bellamy. Thank you for displaying Cinestill's daylight colors and capabilities. 800 speed in that daylight and with a 1/1000th shutter must have had you stopped down quite a bit.
Hi JCH! One tip for after using the lab box. U need to open up the blade section on the 135 module to wipe the metal blade dry after developing. Or else the blade gets rusty and the rust bits can get into the developing tank! Don’t ask how I know that...
Getting chems onto the cutter blade is much less likely to happen if you use 300ml of solution instead of 500ml as he's doing here (for reasons that escape me.) Also, pop off the film chamber before you put the box in the sink to rinse. One more thing: how many times do I have to tell you noobs not to rewind the leader all the way into the cartridge? Leave the tail out and fold it over so you know it's exposed. Darn kids...
Funny, when I used to do Cibachrome prints the smell was part of the ritual as was putting the neutralizing tablets into the chemicals and hearing them fizz.
Interesting and practical development, nice series of the shoot, just the music was a bit to immersive to listening to you ;-( , anyway great contents!
Too bad it is hard as fuck (and expensive) to get any C41 chemicals in Japan. I would rather self develop but when I buy C41 it turns out to be double the price after importing the C41 kits here. :(
OH you actually take photos? All thats a revelation 😂 I was expect amazing work for some reason 🤷🏽♂ but these snaps are ok. By the way, the mixing the Cinestill is a nightmare and requires a lot of kit to get the temps right etc. I like how you totally missed that out 🤣
more city tours/photo walks! 😍
In case you want to get some of that sweet JCH merch japancamerahunter.creator-spring.com/
Mr JCH, please make more of these kind of video, very entertaining and well done.
Your influence has crossed the Pacific Ocean to this photographer's home in New York. I did indeed purchase the Cine still c41 kit. Here we go. Peace
Welcome back, and congratulations on your new place! Enjoyed the tour and the CineStill demo. Excited for your next video.
I'm living vicariously through your videos, can't wait to walk these streets again once travel resumes, thanks for sharing, peace from the UK.

Not worth the hassle. Go the tempering box, sousvide and your choice of tank (I'm a Jobo fan) which you can roll in the box.
Thanks for showing us this. Seems straightforward.
Glad it was helpful!
Great video Bellamy. I love how you can be in a high street and all of a sudden there is a shrine. Japan is bonkers. Thanks.
It really is!
Thanks for sharing the process and especially the final photos. Loved them and long for another trip to Japan. Take care!
Glad you enjoyed it!
do they have educational dvds? asking for a friend.
Really interesting video. What's you scanning & printing process? Also if you need to keep getting closer, use a 50mm for street photography!!

Long time no see is an understatement
great video as always. good to see you back !
Superb video Mr Hunt!
Thank you so much for sharing your photos and your knowledge
Nicely made video!
And congrats to the new office!
Thank you very much!
Great tip using the sous vide! Thanks.
You are so welcome!

i love how your channel is evolving and creating content , thank you! =) .
I appreciate that!

Me too. It is my daily tool watch.

Really enjoyed this clip, quite tempted to pick one of these "gateway" (lol) tanks up actually!

Hello Bellamy, how do you dispose of the chemicals when developing colour film?
Great shot with the umbrella…

Great use of the Moonwatch for timing hehe :)
Thanks! 😄
Hi, don't you wait too much after using the developper ? Regards, Fred
I really enjoyed this video~ been a while since I developed my film on my own, that tank box looks interesting 👍🏼 need me some gateway powders 😂
Glad it was helpful!

I haven't noticed any issues. But it is something I will certainly keep an eye on.
It's difficult to make out what you're saying at times with that music
I resorted to cc.

Cool video

enjoyed much ! U-NO- Ur very entertaining bro.
Cool! Was looking at the lab box. How many times can you use the developing chemicals?
Well, we literally say it in the video if you watch it...
@@japancamerahunter did you? I did watch all of it while cooking brekky so it looks like I missed it 🤣
@@japancamerahunter but thank you for responding in a manner that I’ll have to rewatch it all over again 😑
Well done man!! You do a Great Job!!
How do you know when the Chems are the correct temp?
Is that a nikon f3 watercolor painting?
It is a Nikon F3 acrylic painting by Tim Kerr.
First time using lab box color. Have Cine Still heater and see how it goes
Nice speedy.
Awesome & Thanks :)
Welcome 😊
Thanks for the input and the video, personal opinion, probably something that has been address before but the music is too loud and distracting
also wow, the biking has done you well. You've lost a significant amount of weight.
Thanks. Yeah I have changed a lot.
Brother do you sell the lab box?
I don't but you can get it from Ars Imago or any of their dealers.
Hi is there a Lab-box for 120 medium format?
Hi, the Lab box can use both 120 and 135. It has different modules for each. Thanks.
what is that strap on the mp?
❤️
You are bit too hard to yourself... Very nice walk! 👍👌
ditched the leicavit??
easier to use without it. I don't shoot enough to justify it.
I liked the video but constantly had to turn down the sound and use Closed Caption because of that loud and distracting music in the background.
You look that dude from SNL but bald
Interesting and practical development, nice series of the shoot, just the music was a bit to immersive to listening to you ;-( , anyway great contents!
anyone told you look a bit like the Don-atello from N.Turtles?
Now that one is a first

Paging Dr. Hunt.
It's sad that you can't eat donuts or gyozas anymore!
I am sad
I can feel your anger at being gluten free. I feel you, been GF since 2018 :((
Yeah, it totally sucks. I am gluten free, dairy free. The utter worst.

need to cut the music wayyyyyy down can not hear you...
lose the music !!!!!
Interesting video ruined by overly loud music which made half of what you were saying unintelligible.
