  • The video gives you a step by step tutorial how to tighten the oil-water radiator of a Porsche 944. There are different versions of the radiator, the video shows the work for an early model II. The work itself isn't quite difficult, but the access is rather limited. The video shows that the job is possible without further disassembling.

While I hope I never have to do the job, if I have to I can approach it with confidence now! Danke!

For anyone wondering, this is a lot harder with the power steering assembly in place

Hi, right. I would even say impossible. It's necessary to remove the pump and hoses from their mounts. The hoses remain connected to the pump. Greetings, Jürgen

My favorite line, "The torque is for sure several hundred Nm...", on a 7mm nut. LOL. Who said Germans don't have a sense of humor. :)

Hello there Mr Irina, not sure if you know but you have already help me with this video, I have a 944 84 early car NA, and I had a maio type of oil on the water container and after reading a lot and seeing two videos decided to do this job, well it was a long and I had to take lots of parts of (I have power steering), so this is my drama now, I m on a country where I have not one single part of theses cars they are collectibles and I m getting pure oil (not just maio lookin but pure oil and my oil level is going down fast) on my water, after about 1 year of the job and about 10k km, I read all over that you need it to go to a 6r housing and the new type oprv retro fit, but after seeing some of your videos I felt confident in using my old 5r and my old oprv, so I just got the new gaskets and o-rings kit, I did but now I don't know what went wrong? was thinking maybe my oil radiator is liking because the oil os going dow to fast, but I never saw no one talking about the radiator going bad like that?

Hi, are you sure, that the cylinder head gasket is still fine? Greetings, Jürgen

@@irina25661 Well no I am not sure, but my oil is crystal clear and I was thinking that if the head gasket was bad I will get water in oil also, is this right?

@@arthureus Hi, not necessarily, the pressure of the oil is higher than the pressure of the water. Greetings, Jürgen

Can you use any other sealant than Curil T for this particular job ?

    • @irina25661

Hi, Porsche states Curil T, Hylomar Blue may have a similar characteristic. Greetings, Jürgen

      Thanks.
Another idiot question. How many attemps did it take you to get it in the right position. My tool is fine and loose until the final tightening..
The last screw screws up the alignment on the last 1/4 round.
Is there a trick to tighten the bolts?

I'm surprised you used a sealant on the gasket. Have you experienced leaks on these if installed without sealant?

    • @irina25661
      @irina25661  5 лет назад +2

Hi, the use of the sealant is a request from Porsche. Greetings, Jürgen

How did you remove the heat shield without removing the exhaust headers?

    • @irina25661

Hi, you loosen the heat shield only, removing is not possible in the later models.
