We were set to cross Ballina bar on 28/1 after anchoring overnight at Byron Bay. But the weather down to coast was changing and we ended up going into Iluka. We did motor closer to the bar and conditions looked ok and I’d checked MetEye and previously spoke to VMR. When we passed by the tide had just turned and even then, despite good conditions we saw a few larger waves standing up across the entrance.
heard you this morning on australia all over norm, i'm not a sailor but always dream of exploring the australian coast and river systems this sounds such a good idea well done, fair weather ✌️🫡

Good to have a Plan B when they are misbehaving Pam. The Clarence is usually a bit of an easier bar to cross.
Thanks Norm

Those lead lights are a recent addition.good stuff. Have you crossed Brunswick heads bar yet?
Nope... Very narrow and not much to go in for.
Gotta love the Ansett flag.
Only old dudes can remember them.
I still have an Ansett Golden Wing Club baggage tag, which many (older) people find amusing
