There is noi lost generation.... other drivers make mistakes, look what Lando did in the sprint race. He lost a lot of positions in lap 1. Max does not make mistakes. That is the difference. In 2026 it start all over with the new rules. Let`s see what happens then.

I would tend to agree with the great Peter Windsor that returning to the top six only score points would actually lessen the distortions in F1 history and either cancel Sprint races point distribution, but replace that with distributing the same point ratings with each and every race quali. The fastest lap point would remain.

  • @Ogole-oye

This idea of giving everyone points feels like an Oprah Winfrey show. F1 is meritocracy and the spoils go to the best.
As for the points system, there is an already existing system used to figure out the order when it comes to pay out to teams at the end of the season.
The other argument people raised that it would give meaning or incentive to drivers, they are already motivated to beat their opponents. No driver says ah since I'm out of top ten, therefore it doesn'tatter where I finish.
There is an inherent system to awarding performance already.

Question for the team, Thoughts on the success Team Haas has had so far this year? Is it because Guenther is gone? Is it credit to new principal? Would they have experienced it regardless? Will we see them start to slowly go down? I just think they have shocked with what they have done, just as much as Alpine have shocked with what they have not done. Just interested to hear your insider thoughts. Thanks!

Max is the Messi of F1. Messi played in an incredible team (with players like Xavi and Iniesta and trainers like Rijkaard and Guardiola). Then he can shine. The same accounts for Max in RB. But Messi stays Messi, also when he went to PSG and Inter Miami. He is the best, as is Max. Just like CR7 fans downplay Messi, Lewis fans will do that with Max. But the vast majority recognizes Max talent and uniqueness. If Max has the right team, he will be the undisputed GOAT in 10 years time.

Apart from statistics showing that Russell is destroying any chance of the Mercedes teams chances of becoming competitive in F1, the biggest difference between Russell & Hamilton is that Russell is clearly racing for himself (eg Melbourne) while Hamilton is working overtime to resolve the cars setup problems.

Max has overshadowed everyone since he started karting at 4. He won all karting WC’s but 1. He won 10 races in his 1 season in F3 and came 2nd overall. Max went to F1 as YOUNGEST DRIVER EVER at 17, won at 18 his first race as YOUNGEST EVER in F1…in his debut race in Red Bull Racing…. he had his record breaking year last year. He was only 23 when he won his 1st F1 WC.

Why is Russell still driving for the Mercedes team???? ......... especially after he has proved that he is not a team player (eg Melbourne 2024) and has also generated a much bigger car repair bill than young Mick Schumacher (or any other driver), while driving a competitive car?

@@Redlingstein Thank you!!! You have just explained why Russell is useless as an F1 driver.
As you have identified, Russell does not accept that an F1 driver is a part of a team who strive to be the ' best of the best', on track'........... and that the team should always benefit from a drivers input and results.
Almost every time Russell beat Hamilton, Hamilton was trying the improve the car's performance.
Through the years, Russell has resoundingly proved his ability to throw valuable team points away, (eg 2024 Melbourne) pure for selfish reasons, coupled to a serious driver incompetency.
Russell having the F1 record for having the most contact with other F1 drivers, in any one season, just adds credence to his disappointing F1 history. hmm
