Looks a lot like the one we had when I was a kid. I think ours had a Phillps screw through the tonearm shell to hold the cartridge. And the case was hot pink & white. Love your vids.
Tele-tone ( the hyphen is significant here) began at the start of WWII producing devices for the war effort. It is possible that Tele-Tone was the first manufacturer to have a moderately-priced radio in stores at War's end in 1945. They offered many radios under their own name as well as various retail brands retail brands including Silvertone and Truetone. When TV entered the scene Tele-Tone boasted the lowest-priced TV on the market. One Bakelite-cased set they built for Sears-Silvertone sold many units. Tele-Tone did well until the TV meltdown around 1955 when they were forced into bankruptcy. They resumed operation after emerging from bankruptcy but made cheap phonos almost exclusively with a few cheap guitar amps from time to time. Tele-tone specialized in kiddie phonos until the brand disappeared around 1980 . There products appeared to be USA made until the very end
It sounds as good as I remember the one I had as a kid. If you get it on Ebay you can relive those days again in your mom's basement rec room or your own!!!! Wore out" Woolly Bully" on a 1966 Sears Silvertone from back then! Stuff made today however is really just crap from Asia!
great video as always I saw one of these in a stereo portable cabinet and it had a varco stereo cartridge it was a tube amp and it had 4 tubes and sounded great I got it for a friends kid that had lots of disney records from their parents and relatives i hope that you get a good price for it your work is worth more then you ask for the stuff you fix .you do such a great job and really enjoy all your videos all the best
You ain't kidding. I used to build, repair, and sell PCs, and it was remarkable how much of my time was wasted on people who wanted me to low-ball all my repairs or sell them a high-end computer for flea market prices - and getting mad when I didn't want to play their game.
@@tarstarkusz I get that, and that people really want a deal, but the ones that go to such extraordinary lengths to actively screw a guy over really piss me off.
@@xaenon Like the guy who told me he paid $85 for a broken record player; but, expected me to let him have something good for $5 (or, maybe even free). I saw it as a slap in the face and when I got a belly full, I had no problem with showing him the door.

I hope you get a serious buyer for the Tele-Tone - someone who is willing to pay the listing price without argument, question or complaint. There is no such thing as a free lunch in the business world. Some people fail to understand this.
I’ve got a slightly newer version I believe from the 70’s but I can’t figure out how to get the platter off. It doesn’t seem connected to anything. Any tips?
Hey I need some help with my player the power gets to the motor but it doesn’t seem to want to spin I have looked darn near everywhere but cannot seem to find one it’s a four speed and I would love to get it running again
Doing repair work for others; I did a video on that, and why I refuse to do it. People think that 5 minutes of my time is all it takes, and $20 should cover it---nope, it doesn't work that way
That was why I got out of repairing and selling TVs in 1990.I'd done it for years but everybody wanted a full featured set when more and more colour sets came on the scene but only wanted to pay no more than $10-$20 for one.One even wanted a four year parts and labour warranty for a 1969 vintage GE made Packard Bell TV.That was when I got out of it.Nothing has changed in that regard.
@@danvanlandingham3854 I went through the same thing. Today, you can pretty much forget selling anything with a CRT. One of the guys at the pawn shop told me that even with flat screens - people will only buy them if they are no older than a year old, have a large screen, and are a smart TV. The bottom started falling out of the used TV market in the late '80's, when new color TV's started selling for under $200 and it only got worse as the years went by.
@@radiotvphononut It is the HDMI ports, USB, smart features are must have in today's flat screen TV's, I don't care for any widescreen TV, my friend Simon likes his smart phones and SM TV, he casts YT vids to the TV from the phone, I don't have home internet, I download YT vids to laptop, copy the content to ext 3" sata drive then play it through a DTV box to the 4:3 WEGA

I had one when I was very young. I remember the tele- tone logo on it. I got it for Christmas. I was around 4 years old.

In this day and age it seems far too many Gimme Pigs all want something for nothing and then get really bent out of shape when they don't get it.
