      I'm not sure what you mean. Are you asking about the bo sliding into my fingers when I'm blocking? If so the angle of the sai deflects the bo away from my fingers. Vs when holding it blade out, the bo can slide towards my fingers.

    Lyrics:
    Wash away the anger
    Here I stand beneath the warm and soothing rain
    The droplets falling gently down on the terrain
    Wash away the sorrow, all the stains of time
    But there's no memory, it's only dry inside
    In the mud and sinking deeper into a peaceful life
    And it will come like a flood of pain pouring down on me
    And it will not let up until the end is here
    And it will come through the darkest day, in my final hour
    And it will never rest until the clouds are clear
    Until it finds my dreams have disappeared
    My dreams disappear

    In chamber position, I think that your wrist is bent too much. I good punch may break your wrist at the bend. Is this the way your arm is made or a mistake. I tried holding my sai that way (mot the way I was taught) and it hurt when I struck somethiong.

    • @TheKarateShrimp
      @TheKarateShrimp  7 месяцев назад

      Do you mean in chamber position or in punching position? I'm not sure which one you're referring to. My wrist is very bony and my elbow does hyperextend, so perhaps this is what you're seeing. Thanks for watching.

    Way late to this good tutorial; thank you for sharing. Question: having trained in my Tao Sifu's lineage of Northern Shaolin would you not recommend sai? I've always admired it as a tool but never known anyone to teach it.
    Now that my Tao Sifu has retired I've begun to branch out my training even non-martial arts based regimens as I rehab. Peace.

    • @TheKarateShrimp
      @TheKarateShrimp  11 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it. 😊 For me personally, it's important to follow my own path in martial arts, and incorporate anything useful and/or intriguing to me even if it doesn't align with what I was taught. I love the challenge of branching out and seeing what I'm capable of. So I definitely recommend sai. Beautiful weapon, and really fun to learn. 🙏

    I just bought a new pair of sai. The first ones I've owned in about 40 years.
    So far, the upper body muscle memory is still good, but the footwork not so much.
    Ah well, I guess I'll just have to stand my ground and fight. 🫤

    • @TheKarateShrimp
      @TheKarateShrimp  9 месяцев назад

      Upper body muscle memory is the hard part. That's awesome. Keep training 💪

    • @guarddog318
      @guarddog318 9 месяцев назад

      @@TheKarateShrimp - In my case, lower body and footwork is going to be the hard part, due to "idiopathic peripheral neuropathy".
      Been dealing with that for quite a while now, and usually walk with a cane.

    • @TheKarateShrimp
      @TheKarateShrimp  9 месяцев назад

      That totally makes sense. My apologies. I moreso was thinking of the technical difficulties related to using sai.

    • @guarddog318
      @guarddog318 9 месяцев назад

      @@TheKarateShrimp - no need to apologize. My condition isn't your fault and you had no way of knowing.
      The aggravating thing for me is I used to teach sai and other weapons. However, being an old fart now, health problems interfere with me doing a lot of the things I remember how to do.
      Basically the mind is willing, but the body ain't having any of it anymore. 🥴
      ( I can always work out cane and sai techniques for the stick and one sai. )
