Great vids Chris, just watched your pitching video.I try to do all those tips but keep shanking pitch shots and chipping around the green.please Could you do a video to help me out.I don’t know what I’m doing wrong it’s driving me crazy. Wish I was playing behind you when your knocking all those balls in the water haha
My favourite youtube coach. I wish i could hire you as my own coach. I've had two experiences with swing coaches. Both were happy to give one or two lessons, and that was it. Even letting them know of my goal of getting to single figure handicap. It's strange that coaches dont seem to want to coach.
These types of videos are the ones I search the most. The short game. Thanks for identifying the errors and helping guide to watch out for. Your tips truly help. Keep up the great work!!!
I just mentioned on one of your 3 wood videos that I discovered your channel today (liked and subscribed right away) and said I thought you were a very good teacher. Now I have to repeat that, but with caps, you are a VERY GOOD teacher! So many reasons in this video, but one overall reason is you connect the "what / how" with the "why" better than any other golf instruction I've seen. Also, you are very good at remembering that many of your viewers have much less knowledge than you do and therefore are careful not to assume we / they know what you mean by certain phrases. An example is at the 9:30 mark of this video you say you are "extended", but then immediately follow-up with a easy to understand example of what exactly that means. I would guess that a decent percentage of you viewers really benefited from that type of rare, unassuming follow-up. This is the third video of yours I've now watched today and I've picked up very valuable information on every one of them, but just as important you've presented the information in a way that makes it easier to remember (because of the what / how and why connections). I'm so happy I discovered your channel!
We don't rely on our skill - we rely on our technique. Truer words were never spoken for weekend duffers such as myself. Also felt the sting of truth on four of these five. Ouch. Still delivered kindly and solid advice without too much technical stuff my wife wouldn't understand yet as a new player.
These are the obstacles that panic me🤣Thanks for the proper techniques. Chris can you do a video using short irons off the tee box please. I am never sure of using a tee or not. Thanks 👍
Must have got up early in the morning to shoot this video , Chris ! Lovely to see "one man and his dog in the background " A greenskeeper's best friend !!
Thanks for some much needed encouragement.. An interesting video to put together, would be your set-up and technique for a shot from 10, 20, 30, 40 50, by tens on out to say 120 yards. Thanks.
I loved your references to the need for higher skill for some shots. I always try to use the lowest skill shot available to me, e.g. use a 7 iron when 6 ft off the green rather than a wedge. One of the best bits of advice I ever got was 'Use the least lofted club you can get away with'.
Chris, with each video you produce, no matter what aspect of golf it is, your explanation and technical ability are the best, simple straight forward advice and now I’m hoping to improve my short game accordingly , big thanks
Chris I've followed many golf channels in the past but I've stumbled upon yours and your content surpasses everything out there by far. Great work and I'm looking forward to following now!!
Great video Chris. I’m definitely guilty of taking too wide a stance and while you can get away with it, it is much harder to control distance - so I’ve been narrowing stance on all shortish chips. The only thing I’d say is when the ground is rock hard there is that danger of catching the bounce too early and blading it. I did notice that even in your practice swings, your brushing the ground after the ball so it’s still ball first. There’s a bit of skill in that. Love the tempo and the finish.
Chris must have been at my last round cause he described all my chipping mistakes in this video. At least I know what I'm doing wrong now, maybe I can fix them now.
Great Video! Your instruction surely pointed out the issues and bad habits I had, from my stance, controlling my swing.. Your video instruction was definitely a big help! Keep up the great tips/instruction. Thanks!
Excellent presentation. This particular shot causes me the most grief of any during a round. I will incorporate your method next time I am at the course.
Hi Chris, thank you for this video. These scoring irons are the ones I struggle with the most (my handicap is currently 12). I’ve just subscribed to your channel purely based upon your approach with the advice and tips you have just given. Can’t wait to see more. 👍😎🇦🇺
"Controlled Swing" was the key for me, well explained. I have definitely chunked a few into the water over the years but one thing that has helped me (not every time for sure !!) but I try to focus on the flag, not the pin but the actual flag, reduces the chance of being short 🙄
Without the water hazard, I could nail this shot 8/10 times. Put the water in front and everything goes out the window. My thinking is ..what water /bunker? etc. Excellent lesson once again Chris.
My first time watching these videos and I am a beginner, loving the videos but not understanding the parts about 60 degrees as my clubs are just labelled as a 'fairway driver', p - pitcher etc so would be helpful if when you reference a club 'name' when you mention a club in the lessons please ?
Brilliant video, Chris! Unbelievable that the ground crew, at that very moment, had to mow where /near you were trying to shoot towards. Apparently for your 5th point, you had to wait a bit until they left. Really useful tips for a person (me) that struggles with pitching. Full swing, no problem. My finesse (and confidence) lag badly on the kind of shots you were demonstrating. Again thanks for the great tips!
Wondering if you have a video tutorial on chipping into the green on very uneven Lee. I tend to keep a bit of a wider stance to compensate for the uneven ground just to help me balance more and set up. I don’t know if that’s right but it seems to be working up to this point
Chris! That was an excellent display on how to hit the short pitch shot. This type of shot can lead to chunks or belly shots quite easily. I alternate between the gap wedge and pitching wedge. I also try to use a U shaped swing as opposed to a V shaped swing. Stance and rotation as you displayed.
Great video Chris!!! Unfortunaly I have been guilty of all 5! lol I will definitely take your advice and this should shave some shots of my game. Thank you and keep providing this awesome content!!!
The P (44° average loft) goes further than an S (56° average loft) wedge. You need to learn what distances you cover with each club. And with which club you feel you have more control or "love at the time of delivery" you may decide that you play an i9 because you feel better with it, even though you "know" an S is enough to cover the distance and height. Having an accurate appreciation of your distances with each club is key.
Chris: Does this shot require the shoulders, hips and knees to rotate simultaneously on the backswing so the club and arms return to the same alignment, as at address, just before impact?
I've just stumbled on to this in the last couple of days. That it's better to be long and shallow chipping/pitching. I notice your right arm still breaks. Can you explain the best way to fold and unfold the right arm while still being long and shallow
Hi Chris... just before you start your sings in this video I noted that you are turning your lead foot/toes ( left ) out a bit. What are you achieving with that move? I've been told that doing that move helps you open your body to the target... true?
your videos crack me up...in my 30 yrs of playing golf, I've never seen players doing the weird elbow swings you show as incorrect in many of your videos. I assume you are exaggerating their swings.
Thoughts for next video: FIX MY 80YRD SLICE OFF THE TEE! Ball placement, plane of the club, difference in iron swing vs driver, why is my club face open or is it???
I find I pitch best when I use rotation for distance control and keep my tempo consistent throughout the downswing. When I start rushing the downswing is when I start hitting thins and fats.
Hi Chris, this is "THE ONE ", so many golfers (especially ME), NEED TO SEE THIS VIDEO!! Just awesome, THANKS BRUH 😆
This video has been huge for me. Made my chipping so much better. You're my homeboy!
Thanks for the concise delivery. Too many you tube videos take 15 minutes to convey one tip. Your pace was as good as your advice!!!
Imagine giving this a thumbs down. Excellent video.
Brilliant. Still the best tutor on youtube.
I just love how you instruct and break down the tips!! Im so motivated to get to the range and practice! I send all your videos to my husband...lol
Wow, I literally have been making ALL of these mistakes with my pitch shots. Thanks so much for the tips!
The best pitching lesson that I have seen in a very long time
Finally someone that makes sense with pitching the ball, thanks, now I go practice, practice, cheers !!
Thanks 🙏🏻

Very clearly explained - thanks Chris.
Another great video. I have all the points I need for a constructive practice. Thanks again.
Yet another trick, and easily understood, lesson.
Crystal clear. Well spoken. Beautifully done Chris. Thanks for sharing.

Very good. Thanks Chris, I’ll try to remember at next week’s golf😁
Meant to type: Yet another terrific, and easily understood, lesson.

Great video Chris this will help a lot of people who struggle with pitch shots 👍
I have watched almost all your video’s, but this is by far the most helpful, since I have trouble getting to the green in regulation.
Thanks Bill and really hope it helps, such an important part of the game
short, clear, great great video! thank you a lot

Let’s take a moment to remember those Pro V1s sacrificed in the making of this video 🤣
Probably refurbs 🤣

Hired stunt doubles obviously!!

Really enjoyed this video. Thanks Chris.

Nice one Chris, many thanks.
Great easy video for pitching…..thank you 👍🏼
Great video, body pivot through the ball the most important one for me and easy to get into bad habits of not doing it!
Thanks Chris, all makes perfect sense as usual. Now to practise!
Chris must have been at my last round cause he described all my chipping mistakes in this video. At least I know what I'm doing wrong now, maybe I can fix them now.
Great video Chris, had a bit of trouble with my pitch shots lately so this will defo help 👍
Hope it helps Colin, tough shots to perfect but always needed on the course
Awesome video !!! Most destructive part of my game
Thanks Hashan, not my greatest strength either if i'm honest
Great Video! Your instruction surely pointed out the issues and bad habits I had, from my stance, controlling my swing.. Your video instruction was definitely a big help! Keep up the great tips/instruction. Thanks!
This is a GREAT video! I'll watch it several times before the season begins. I sure hope those aren't ProV1s you're hitting into the pond though! 😂
Really good advices Chris. Clever to teach at fixing mistakes
Thanks and hope the video has helped
Excellent presentation. This particular shot causes me the most grief of any during a round. I will incorporate your method next time I am at the course.
Hope they get better after this vid Joe
Another great video! The short game is king on the course.
Clear, concise and precise as usual !
Thanks 🙏🏻

Yeah definitely east to focus on the trouble, especially when it’s a huge hazard like here
@@ChrisRyanGolf WHAT?!
Great tips, helps me improve my short game.👍
Great pitching advice! Like the 1-2 rhythm mantra.
Thanks Ronald

Great lesson
Good explanation Chris. I am sure it will help me. Thanks
Thanks Jamie
Nice tips. Thank you
Enjoyed it Chris. It might have helped if you could have listed the 5 points on your last slide. Always like your short game videos. They've helped.
very nice instruction
Great video and well explained!

Ya unbelievable the greenkeeper got in the way of a youtube video 🤦♂️🤦♂️
Thank you so much! Great vid. My friends always say I look like I want to put my hand in my pocket when chipping😁
Awesome video. Been really struggling with maintaining a smooth tempo through a round. Got some work to do!
Thanks and hope it helps
Great video Chris as always. Were those all brand new TP5x balls you hit into the water or did you put junk balls in the bag? 🤣🤣
They were Titleists.
@@craigvn1 please tell me they were recovered :)
Well done.
I love your exploitations! Thancks
On pitch shots my trail elbow separates and moves up on the takeaway. Is this due to not hinging properly.
Wondering if you have a video tutorial on chipping into the green on very uneven Lee. I tend to keep a bit of a wider stance to compensate for the uneven ground just to help me balance more and set up. I don’t know if that’s right but it seems to be working up to this point
Very well behaved greenkeepers dog in the background. Great video
Fantastic Video Chris
good video, thanks for the tips

A U shape swing is a great option and is often the easiest way to play these
Great!!! … thank you.
ah... The 12th at The Forest of Arden... Love this hole..
Hey Chris, great instruction as always. Besides the dog distraction, what was the man with the stick/wand doing on the green please?
Great video Chris!!! Unfortunaly I have been guilty of all 5! lol I will definitely take your advice and this should shave some shots of my game. Thank you and keep providing this awesome content!!!
Thanks Greg and there will be lots out there guilty of all 5
Really good video this one!!!
Great tips
great video - if i carry a 54 and 58, would you suggest the 54?
Thanks for the video Chris, spot on as usual! - Would this be a good way to start teaching a youngster how to hit a golf ball who is new to the game?
Why are you pitching with a sand wedge and not the pitching wedge? How do you determine which club to use?
The P (44° average loft) goes further than an S (56° average loft) wedge. You need to learn what distances you cover with each club. And with which club you feel you have more control or "love at the time of delivery" you may decide that you play an i9 because you feel better with it, even though you "know" an S is enough to cover the distance and height. Hi Chris... just before you start your sings in this video I noted that you are turning your lead foot/toes ( left ) out a bit. What are you achieving with that move? I've been told that doing that move helps you open your body to the target... true?
What hand controls the downswing, percentage of force applied between left vs right arm.
your videos crack me up...in my 30 yrs of playing golf, I've never seen players doing the weird elbow swings you show as incorrect in many of your videos. I assume you are exaggerating their swings.

Easily the internets best golf coach for 30 handicappers like me.
I find I pitch best when I use rotation for distance control and keep my tempo consistent throughout the downswing. When I start rushing the downswing is when I start hitting thins and fats.
Great video 👍
I love this channel
I struggle with uphill par 3s do I need to shorten my stance to get more height ?
Great video, Chris! Could be even greater with the use of a GoPro/camera on the green to see where the balls end up....😀
Or a go pro in the water to see where the ball ends up 🤣
One to save and review after a poor round.
what about a senior who needs a full swing?
I bet you are glad, you don't need to purchase your own golf balls!! Yet again a great video Chris
Thanks Kev, I definitely wouldn’t be pitching real balls into that lake 🤣. These were just old range balls that o took out
@@ChrisRyanGolf i am sure Taylormade would not be to impressed if the balls were proper balls 🤣
Excellent :)
I always end up shanking it … any suggestions?
I'm very susceptible to a shank from this shot 😪🤬... Why would that be? I think it's shifting too much towards the target or some tempo issue...
