Beautiful well kept church. Loved the accommodation gives you the real feel of the old days farming esp with the lanterns. Amazing sunset and so romantic ❤
Oh my gosh.. Do I want to visit this place after your episode. You two have so much fun. Very very interesting... If I ever get there I will play that red piano. 😂😂
I enjoy our drives out in the country, I like sitting on the back seat hearing and snoozing as you chat to each other lol . Have never been to South Africa, it looks so big and wide🤠 in comparison to here in the UK .🤠
This is so much like Arizona and Nevada, but not like the South were I live. Hot, humid the year round with lots of snakes and alligators. I live in the swamps of Louisiana, deep in the forest. Thanks for another great video, Greg Adams, Springfield, Louisiana, USA
So cool that it resembles the landscapes in those states. We happened upon one farm name which you'll recognise in Episode 150, not sure if you've watched it yet. 🤩🇺🇸
You don't say where you're from, but thank you for watching from afar, we so appreciate that. We completely understand your love for the Karoo and we share that love. It is indeed a special place. I hope you get to visit the vast open expanse of the Karoo very soon again. 🤩🚗
@@DustBugsTravel originally from Cape Town ……thirty odd years ago…… Canada is home …… the Karoo has a very serene presence to it….. very quiet…… we were off the beaten track in March / April this year….. drove through the farmlands via a skeleton place called Letjiesbos across the Gamka river….. Beaufort West area….. the fauna / vegetation after recent rain…. lots of water in the river…. was in bloom…. that semi desert aka… Karoo is spectacular…. Safe travels…..👍👍👍
Such wonderful fun. What a treat to go inside that church and the lady play the organ and to ring the bell and see the clock. Beautiful church for the people to enjoy. Thank you both for your sunshine.
Thank you so much! 😊 It was an experience I'll never forget. Zena was so gracious and kind with her time and knowledge. 🎼 That church is something else! 💒
@@DustBugsTravel I wanted to drive there from Sutherland once but then they told me there are about 20 farmgates to open and as I drive alone I did not do it then. But there is still a next time.
Thank you so much! 😊 We're so happy that you're travelling to all these wonderful places with us and we hope you'll stay on the backseat for a long time to come! There are many more places to go and explore! 😁🚗
Wow what an episode, what a priceless experience for you to be able to have a full view of the inner workings of that church. It was bittersweet to see you staying at Cindy's Oasis as thats where we stayed, she had invited us to spend a few days with her. We stayed in the smaller cottage with the blue framed windows, the red piano (with an interesting story) was in that cottage. I can still picture her making food for us in the kitchen. Samson and her dog "Buster" were there too.
How amazing that you got to meet the matriarch herself. 😍 Her picture and story were displayed in Oasis and we found it absolutely fascinating. Little did we know we will happen upon this incredible gem of a place in Merweville. I'm still in awe when I think back to my experience at the church, it was incredible to see the inner workings of the clock and to climb up to the church tower, certainly two very memorable firsts for me. ⛪
Thank you! The grey stonework was quite exceptional and again we could see the spire from a distance already. Zena was incredibly generous with her time and played the organ so beautifully. What a welcome that was to Merweville, a town you should definitely add to your list! 😁🚗
Thank you so much, glad you enjoyed the video. We absolutely love the Kwid and, if possible, even more so since the fuel prices have become so crazy. And it takes us (almost) everywhere we want to go! 🚗
We weren't going to let anything stop us from seeing that gorgeous sunset! 🌄 We loved our accommodation, it was so cozy although we had loadshedding. We had such a good night's rest that we completely oversnoozed the next morning. 😵😵
We just had to experience the sunset from atop Letterkop, it was a memorable experience, albeit a little later than we had planned. The colours were truly spectacular. 🌄🍾🥂
Last year we were in Merweville and stayed at Springbok Lodge for one night... but eventually stayed two nights...we took photos of the beautiful church... thanks again for the video 😍👍
I understand completely why you extended your stay and decided to stay another night, we might've done the same if we weren't booked someplace else for the next evening. The church is truly spectacular and so incredibly well-maintained. It sounds like you had a fantastic time in Merweville too! 🤩
Love to see the springbuck pronking. Never been to Merweville. Its so beautiful. Love the church and the bell and the orrel. Nothing more special than a glass of bubbly at sunset.
The church is really spectacular and the organ music was super special! 💒 If you're ever in South Africa again, try and visit this area. You will love it! Cheers! 🍾🥂
Hopefully Anna Lapwood wil see this video! #annalapwood Imagine Anna & Zena playing a duet! Julle twee is lekker laf! ...but I like your channel! PS: Thanks to Zena for showing us die binnegoed van die kerk se klok!!!
Thank you to Zena, she knows so much about that church and its inner workings and was happy to share all her knowledge with us. Not to mention her talent on the organ. I looked up Anna Lapwood and have to agree with you, her and Zena should hook up for sure! Thank you for watching and for calling us 'laf', that is a huge compliment in this life that we all take way too seriously. 😁🚗
Yes it is a lovely town, I grew up there... I love the Karoo....and this little town has such lovely old houses... but even if you can drive out to where the Kalkdam is, where the water for the town comes from....it such a beautiful drive through the hills...
We loved the town! 😍 It must've been a treat growing up there. We'll certainly remember Kalkdam for next time we visit Merweville, we didn't make it there this time around.
Zena was incredibly gracious with her time, talent and knowledge and we echo your sentiment. 😊 It was an unbelievable experience being able to explore the inner workings of the church and one I won't soon forget. I hope by now the part for the clock has arrived and shows the correct time once more. 🕍
Thank you for the suggestion. Churches are just one of the things we enjoy in a town or place we visit, so our records aren't complete at all. We live them for their incredible architecture! 🚙💒
Those Springbuks could win any high jump competition!!! Wow
Beautiful well kept church. Loved the accommodation gives you the real feel of the old days farming esp with the lanterns. Amazing sunset and so romantic ❤
Loved this episode so much. This leg of your trip is so awesome. I'm driving with you guys every meter of the way. ❤️
You're very welcome, we'll reserve a seat for you! 😁 There are a good few thousand metres ahead, we hope you'll enjoy every one of them just as much.

Another town not yet visited by me. Magnificent church, and thanks for the interior view, the organ, clock & more. Superb!

We do too! 😊 Birdsong is one of the most beautiful sounds on the planet. 🦜😍

Church ✅👌
A big thank you to Zeena for the tour of the Church.
I would really like to see that clock mechanism function, it is mesmerizing to watch.

Maybe you can publish a book with photographs of all the churches you visited? It will serves as a record of the churches in South Africa.

I GREW UP THERE
Why did you leave😂
Bring ook tog bietjie besoek by De Doorns.Ook ‘n baie mooi plek.
Merweville is also the location for the TV series - Die Boekklub
Indeed! And upon our arrival in town, we still thought it was based on partially true events. But we quickly learnt that it was all fiction. 😁📚
thank you nice clip. The boek klub series is totaly fictional and not based on any true story surrounding merweville .
Thank you for clarifying, we really weren't sure about that at all. 📚
Spelling of towns ????!!!
It looks like the question mark on your keyboard got stuck. Surely one is enough. 😁
