What an incredible seaside village, I was so looking forward to this episode and was not disappointed. I have seen great reviews online for Kommetjie restaurant and can see why, I was impressed with your waitress' Sharon's service. Your guesthouse looked great too, neat, well appointed and the secluded braai area a gem of note. Your channel is really giving great exposure to these lesser known places and their accommodation on offer.
We just love the less-travelled roads more and more with each trip. It's fantastic that you enjoy these places too. 👌🏻 We found the people of Strandfontein very friendly, helpful and welcoming, they live in a special place and we were happy to have discovered a small piece of it. Your comment about our guesthouse is spot on, it was super neat and we immediately felt relaxed and at home. The food and drink were, as very often with us, the cherry on top! 🍔😁
Strandfontein seaside Village has certainly developed into a beautiful village, since I last went on a visit to Cape Town. Thank you for a fantastic documentary. Kia ora from Aotearoa.
I am really speechless Strandfontein really lives up to its name. Its is so amazing, the beach all along the coast is so beautiful. South Africa really has some incredible holiday places. Thank you for sharing.
We agree, we'd like to go and camp there when the weather is warmer, we think that could be a lot of fun with so much to see and experience in the area. Oh, and don't forget the good food! 😁
What an adventure guys. Wow what a lovely little town. Loved the rugged coastline , and the labyrinths. So special. Boy the food looked mouth watering ... reminded me I haven't eaten yet.
I hope your lunch was as good as ours! 😁🍔 Happy to hear that you also enjoyed the labyrinths, we were chuffed that we saw two in one day. Strandfontein is a stunning place, we'd love to go and camp there when the weather is warmer. ⛺
End of every year we would go on holiday to Strandfontein from Victoria West and Graaff Reinet. First as students and eventually with our own kids. Would walk for miles along the beach. Water ice cold. Kommetjie was just a little cafe. Lovely family holidays
Yes, the ice-cold water of the Atlantic Ocean! 🥶 Your family holidays sound like great fun and I'm sure you treasure those memories. It's a great coastal town and we were so pleasantly surprised by what all there was to do and discover.
After watching your Cape Town videos, I'm going back to watch older videos now. I must say, I also get rather nervous on dirt roads that look rather uneven. So Sonja, you're not alone! 😀 Loved this video, can't wait to go through all the others now.
I loved this episode very much. You really love all the roads that look a bit bumpy (love Sonia's comments about them 😮). This is an interesting place. Congratulations on your discovery!
What a charming seaside place! Dis lekker by die see! Dunes are not just seasand, you get dunes in the desert too. Thanks for a beautiful video. Your camera work is excellent
breathtaking view of the ocean! thank you for the video! that burger and ribs seemed pretty nice too. if the security isn't an issue, I'd like to buy a house in SA.... lovely country it is.
That's interesting! It's actually surprising how many labyrinths are around and how much effort has been made to create them and to keep them in good shape for all of us to enjoy. 😎👍
hi i moved from jhb desember 2019 i saw most butiful places in cape but with u fisit wellington i started and follow every video ,many times i work as mobile auto elec and we dont know cape town ,when i work on saterdays some time far as 300km we saw diffrent cape town wife some time get more relaxed wen work some week ends drive with me to see difrent arias ,but this strand fontein i must visit u show many places to see google maps nicer then old maps but youre movies make us want to see and travel west cape.thanks for showing us but u going mo give me travel ideas thanks
We so appreciate you joining us on every trip, thank you. 🚗 It's amazing what you can see within 300km from Cape Town, places one has never heard of before and we just love exploring those! It's great that you can take your wife with you when you get away, it makes all the experiences so much more special. I find Google Maps just easier than normal foldout maps nowadays and I can keep an electronic record of where we've travelled. Enjoy your travels too! 😁
Agreed! Strandfontein is a fantastic seaside town which we didn't even know existed until I started planning this trip. It sounds like you had some pretty special times there too! 🚗🌊
WOW, I enjoyed this journey with you guys. This is most definitely a sea-side spot that my family and I will be ticking off our bucket list. We absolutely love the West Coast😎❤💯❤🔥
I'm glad you enjoyed our visit to Strandfontein, a seaside town that surprised us around every corner. You and your family will love every moment you spend there, I know it! 🤩🌊
It was our first time in this part of the West Coast and it's awesome! I think the town you're referring to, might be the neighbouring village of Doringbaai. Check it out in Episode 142. 😎🚗
Guys, I love this channel - especially as a South African who has worked in England for twenty years and can now come home. I want to buy on the West Coast so your videos have been a great resource. Elands Bay is my current choice (we thinking either there or Sedgefield - very different, I know!🙂) . I just wish you had shown a little bit more of Elands Bay when you went along the front there. Great stuff man. Enjoy!❤️
Thank you. 😊 You must be super excited to be able to return home after such a long time! 🇿🇦 The West Coast and Sedgefield are two great options and you have a difficult job ahead of you to decide! You'll no doubt spend some time in both these areas before you make a final decision. How I wish we did show a little (or a lot!) more of Elands Bay. Very quiet and peaceful if that's what you're after! Good luck with all the arrangements and plans! 👍🏻
@@DustBugsTravel Dankie Meneer. I’ll be over in May for my niece’s wedding in Hibberdene and am going to do a week before looking at both places so I can spend some time at both to get a feel. My gram loved in Knysna so I know that area pretty well but I have only been up the west coast once to Saldanha. 🙏🏻❤️
Well camping at the caravan park on the beach the police drove through and a guy asked how safe is this place so he answered have a look behind you and if you see one house with burglar bars i will take you personally to that house.
I guess from November to April during summer would be the best time. I'd go in March or April to avoid intense heat, but I don't know the area or its climate intimately at all. 🌊🤷🏼♂️
I would imagine so, but I honestly don't know for sure. The few locals we spoke to, said it's very safe, but I don't have any formal statistics as such. 🤷🏼♂️
@@DustBugsTravel Interesant. My sus in Gordonsbaai en nig in Somersetwes.
Baie dankie vir so volledige video. Dit is amazing! Kan jy dalk asb vir my die naam en kontak nr gee vir die Airbnb waar julle tuis gegaan het en die eenheid nr. Dit is defnetief in my smaak.
I'm glad to hear you enjoyed our video of Strandfontein! You must really enjoy your times there too if you've been back a few times already. It was our first visit and we were very pleasantly surprised by what this seaside town all has to offer. We had a fantastic time. Our accommodation was super comfy and neat. I'll be happy to provide you with the info for the guesthouse, but prefer doing so by email. You can send us an email at dustbugs1@gmail.com and we'll respond with the info. Thank you for watching! 🤩🚗
and.. I love the couples banter... 'We hardly even felt it' [typical male]..wife ... [wiping sweat and clinging to wallet] 'I wouldn't say that"... Also you do so well with composition...not so easy especially with a phone.. I mean compositon of your pictures. Do you think it would be crazy to try to buy property in Strandfontein? [Retired I mean]
Sonia is quite feisty and we've always had a fun relationship since we met and I'm so grateful for that. 😍 I'm quite happy with the end product achieved with my cellphone footage, I just don't want to burden myself with additional equipment which would really be overkill for our use. I really don't know Strandfontein well at all, other than what you saw during our brief overnight stay in town. It certainly seemed like an amazing place with a lot to offer and incredible natural beauty, but you may have to visit yourself in person, immerse yourself in local life for a while and chat to the locals to get their take on it. Your ultimate decision will probably be based on whether you like the vibe you feel when in town. 😁🌊
Love the enthusiasm and people being proud of their country. I’m there in January and can’t wait again to visit this beautiful country . Great film !

Such a joy to share with you both. Truly wonderful and uplifting. Your bumper meal goodness how fantastic. THANK YOU BOTH.
It was most certainly a bumper meal and we enjoyed every bite! 😁😋 So glad you enjoyed this one, thank you! 👌🏻
Love the ambiance in Strandfontein……earned a place on my to do list!👌👌👌
Uitstkende Program was nog nie daar nie lyk pragtig! Groete uit LIma Peru!
Beautiful scenery and such great narration....keep it up guys!
There's also a labyrinth type thing at the boer war musuem in Bloemfontein, it was basically exhibit telling what kids went through during the war
That's interesting! It's actually surprising how many labyrinths are around and how much effort has been made to create them and to keep them in good shape for all of us to enjoy. 😎👍
Very nice. Lots of things to see…
That food looked tasty yummy !!!!
They should have tried their mussel pot.
Doringbaai just as nice…a few kilometres away.
Yup, we know. 😁 Check out Episode 142!

There is another Strandfontein in CT, this one is near Vredendal in Namaqualand
Me and my family we used to book a guest house for about 2 weeks near the sea! It's fantastic 😍
Agreed! Strandfontein is a fantastic seaside town which we didn't even know existed until I started planning this trip. It sounds like you had some pretty special times there too! 🚗🌊
Such a prestine view and I cant believe its also so clean!!! Nice to see its not discovered by the rock athletes yet!!!

I remember going there recently. Didn't look around. I think there is another town close by where we had lunch. Lovely places along the coast there.
It was our first time in this part of the West Coast and it's awesome! I think the town you're referring to, might be the neighbouring village of Doringbaai. Check it out in Episode 142. 😎🚗

Lovely #
Thank you! 😎🚗
You found my fav place, the little bay
Glad to hear. And you thought we missed it! 😁
Im glad you found it
Did you see there is another campsite, right above the beach
We did. We can't include footage of every single place of interest in every town though. Simply impossible. 🤷🏼♂️
You are very brave on some roads.
We're not called the DustBugs for nothing! 🚗
Thanks for being a views guy [and driving your patient wife half crazy] ... I also love ..." I just want to..."
Yup, although I must admit she loves views just as much. It's just that the roads to the views, she may not always be so keen on. 😁🚗
THE PEOPLE THERE REALLY KNOW HOW TO PARTY. GOOD FOOD , WINE , AND WOMEN
🤨😲

Cool story, thank you for sharing! 🚙👮🏻♂️
In Taiwan i miss the old South African culture..pouring the drink for his wife. Way to go bud.
I love doing it. I too sometimes forget though. 🍹
Those dunes are Sandveld.
We should've known! We even had Sandveld chips at the restaurant! 🍟 Thanks for the info! 👍🏻
Would love to retire in Strandfontein.
Agreed! It's a fantastic place with so much on offer. 👌🏻🌊
Kommetjie restaurant has a chef, a Scotsman
Well, perhaps he prepared some or all of the delicious food we had there that day! 🍔
His assistant is also very good
u know jhb u get i 1/4 of chips and burger we got in jhb for more rand
Wow, I never knew that! 🍔 Prices are so crazy nowadays, burgers aren't even cheap anymore. But we love them!
Any idea of the best time of year to visit Strandfontein?
I guess from November to April during summer would be the best time. I'd go in March or April to avoid intense heat, but I don't know the area or its climate intimately at all. 🌊🤷🏼♂️
If you have the time... Strandfontein should be pretty much crime free ..would you agree?
I would imagine so, but I honestly don't know for sure. The few locals we spoke to, said it's very safe, but I don't have any formal statistics as such. 🤷🏼♂️
That is a burger from burger headquarters..🍔
