It had been ages since I last tasted what is perhaps Bengaluru’s most iconic chocolate dessert, the ‘Death By Chocolate’ popularly referred to as the DBC, at Corner House, where it was first crafted, supposedly in response to a customer’s request, over a couple of decades ago. A seemingly simple assemblage of vanilla ice cream, rich chocolate cake, cream, thick streams of molten hot chocolate and a liberal garnish of peanuts and cherries, this seems to be the dessert Bengaluru turns to, to quell a major chocolate craving. Like I attempted to in this impromptu ice cream outing!

DBC from corner house is the go to place for any chocolate lover , another new favorite of mine when I want to eat something relatively "healthier" is the Royal butterscotch sunde which comes with the butterscotch sauce and the dry fruit sunde with the kesar sauce both of which have a beautiful load of almonds and dryfruits ....
The only disappointing aspect of the DBC is the peanut topping they are giving now. Many ages ago, they used to give cashew and pista topping. The other best sundaes are the Trilogy and Almond Fudge.

It's like Badam milk where instead of Badam they put peanuts inside 😅.. Never knew they started putting peanut in ice cream too.
Pro tip: ask them to replace the vanilla icecream with their RockyRoad icecream.

This used to be my son's favourite hangout those years
Also the HCF (hot chocolate fudge) is very popular. It used to my favorite one during my engineering days with another close friend who loves a DBC. One point I would like to mention is - the corner house location is an emotion, like the one on residency road, used to be one in Jayanagar shopping complex area. Thanks for bringing back so many memories at Corner House. Did you check out the picture frames of old blore monuments and historical era.

There was a time when I used to have very light lunch and skip dinner knowing fully well that DBC at night is going to make up for it till next day morning. It's addictive to say the least!!!

I was in Bangalore from 2006 till 2013. Corner House Koramangla opposite to Forum Mall Road introduced me to Sundaes and Hot Chocolate fudge which were not in a Delhiites vocabulary then but now you do find it. 👍👍👍
The best dessert ever, we skip dinner and enjoy the DBC and even the almond fudge, which is rated as equally as DBC, and it is a monthly twice affair. All four of us in my family would die for, yummy😋😆
I used to hangout during post graduation days in HRBR layout where corner house is located around 5 minutes near cmr college. I really miss those days with my college mates.

I remember it was in the year 2005 when one of my friends took me out for a late evening walk around Residency Road and introduced me to this amazing DBC. I was like, Wow, this place seems quite famous for ice cream, with people queuing up so late at night. It was a different setup then.
One thing I miss the most from Bangalore.
That overdose of Chocolate syrup, yummm. We made sure two people will share that one bucket of choco syrup..

Hi im your subscriber So you should have must try Lake view milk bar ice cream.To enjoy the Lake view milk bar since 1930 You must arrive Saturday night 10 pm. In croner house you had dbc but if you come in lake view so you must try Black Forest special/sizzling Brownie.

I remember having my first DBC way back in 1998.. they used to have a outlet at the end of brigade rd.. they later on shifted to residency rd next to nagarjuna.. thanks a ton for doing this episode

I have had 2 off those at one time. One of my favourite desert.... No doubt, its a chocolate grave.. if you want to make it more chocolate, you can ask them to use chocolate ice cream in it, instead of vanilla.. this is my choice....

Also instead of vanilla try replacing to chocolate malt icecream for cake fudge or DBC for a better chocolaty experience

Definately the cake has egg as even swiggy says it is not vegetarian. All plain icecream are veg.
