  • City designers, urban councils and citizens alike can learn something from this insightful talk about curating public spaces to activate engagement and delight in every person.
Mara Holt Skov is a San Francisco-based art and design historian and curator specializing in twentieth-century European and American art and design. She is interested in the cultural and historical context of design as it changes and is changed by broader forces. She is particularly passionate about identifying rising macrotrends in design and visual culture, considering how we design for human needs (especially health, wellness and death) and watching the continued convergence of fine arts, craft, design and popular culture.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx

I started opening up to this concept a lot through skateboarding. Citys like bordeaux really seem to grasp that too at the moment

all of those ideas are interesting from an artistic engaging point of view! But i wish i saw anything related to architecture. How we give spatial quality through form texture and light.

Unfortunately, it seems the new world has not seen the old world (or old photos) to really appreciate how those public spaces were "activated".

Is it considered an activation if all the space does is get people to come to it?
