    A few weeks ago I had Mike Fave on the podcast. Mike is an independent researcher with a wealth of knowledge on diet and metabolic health. I first met him on a podcast with Danny Roddy and Jay Feldman and just thought he was a great guy 👏
    In this podcast we dive deep into a topic that's often misunderstood: sugar, juice and fruit. Many women in our program come from restrictive dieting backgrounds, cutting out sugar completely, fearing it like it's the devil. They even equate a glass of orange juice to a can of soft drinks.
    Mike helps us break down these misconceptions.
    He shares his journey through various diets, from bodybuilding to keto, and how he now focuses on reading research directly. His experience as a nurse, especially during COVID, and his work in health consulting gives him a unique perspective.
    We discuss how sugar, particularly fructose, has been unfairly demonised. Mike explains that sugar is a vital fuel source, and the real issue lies in what sugar is often packaged with in processed foods. We also touch on how many women develop a fear-based mentality around food, leading to unhealthy cycles of restriction and bingeing.
    Mike provides practical advice for those transitioning from low-carb diets. He suggests slowly lowering fat intake while increasing carbs from whole food sources, like fruits and some starches, before introducing more rapidly digesting carbs like juice.
    This episode is packed with insights on how to nourish your body properly, find food freedom, and enjoy delicious, balanced meals without fear. If you're ready to transform your relationship with food and embrace a healthier, happier lifestyle, this episode is for you.

    I personally think that a person cannot have carbs without potassium. Because any time I eat pure sugar or pasta, or white rice, I start craving potassium rich foods, like tomato sauce, vegetables, fruit etc.

      It’s not an exact number so don’t over think it. You can bounce around between .7 and 1 gram per pound of optimal body weight. If you are carrying too much body fat just estimate what you would weigh if your were at an optimal body fat percentage.

    Definitely false when he says the body of the overweight female adapted to 900 calories lol tell that to the people on the Minnesota starvation experiment. When people “can’t lose” In a calorie deficit they are not in a deficit. They are willingly or unwillingly lying to themselves. Bringing up her calories to 1400 made her lose weight because she likely started tracking accurately and likely stopped binging. The magic of “increasing” calories is that more foods can impact people psychologically and they lose that need to binge.

    • @poppyseed6487
      @poppyseed6487 3 месяца назад +10

      Only that the men in the Minnesota starvation experiment where selected for their health. They were metabolically healthy and their starvation only lasted 24 weeks.
      The overweight woman adapted to 900 calories has had many years and cycles of diets under her belt, and her metabolism messed up, her thyroid function low, her hormones messed up.
      We can't compare that to the metabolism of metabolically pristine healthy men in their prime.
      I've been tracking calories and was adapted to a 1,200 calories diet with a BMI of 24 as a young woman (with a history of fasting, dieting on and off for over 10 years, including low carb) with an underactive thyroid and insulin resistance. I wasn't fat, but I wasn't slim either with a BMI of 24.
      Now I have upped my carbs and calories to 1,800 - 2,000 and my BMI is 21.

      I agree with you I'd like like to see REAL evidence that substantiates this idea that chronic dieting somehow makes it so a true deficit doesn't make you lose weight. I agree 💯 humans are deceiving themselves. The mind is a powerful thing.

      @@poppyseed6487exactly right. No comparison. I’m doing Jays program. After 19 years low carb and hurting my metabolism for even longer than that, this is not a quick thing to do. I’m sure I ate under 900 calories a day. I’m 8 months into this and it’s not easy. Benefits are slow, but coming. I am only now experiencing real hunger and not the hangry or deprived hunger of all those years. It’s different but noticeable.

      @@junkgirltoo5005 If you ate 900 cals on low carb, it's not adding sugar that will benefit, just more food/cals. You were clearly in a gigantic caloric restrictive state. Sugar has always hurt people, anywhere. Read Nutrition & Physical Regeneration by Weston A. Price. You'll see examples from all over the world of what hurt people. Everytime, it was white flour, sugar, syrup, sweetened fruit etc anywhere in the world.
